If you would like to have a neat, historic and cultural experience in China, make sure to visit this museum close to the airport in Luoyang. It is not crowded, only a few others were visiting when we were there (on a Thursday). It is very intersting to see how various tombs from around the area have been taken apart piece by piece and reconstructed in this large underground tunneled area to give people an idea of what different styles of tombs were like. Make sure to visit the fresco museum at the back of the complex. If you go to the basement you will be able to see frescos that have been very well preserved, some from tombs excavated only a few years ago. They charge you 1 Yuen here to put on madatory plastic shoecovers. Also well worth the 5 yuen is the lady in the underground complex inviting you in through a sliding metal door. Don't worry when she shuts is tight right behind you. She will show you how to use the humming bowl, super cool! I won't give it away, you just have to do it! We also rented an audio guide for 10 Yuen (plus 100 deposit) which was kinda worth it. Each tomb has a number and you can follow along the explanation if you would like to know a little more about the architectural and historical details. Our friends went on a monday and it was closed. Take bus 83 from the left side of the bus station (facing the clocktower). It's about a 20 minute ride, get off two stops after the big roundabout near the airport.
