An Oasis in Downtown Birmingham...Birmingham;s Railroad Park is a wonderful addition to a downtown area that really needed a park of this quality and distinction. A very pleasant surprise!!!

The new park is unique and awesome! I have lived in Birmingham most of my life and when I heard that the city of Birmingham was spending tax payers money on building a park downtown I was very skeptical. This is a beautiful park and here are the reasons you need to visit!

1. It's beautiful. There are plenty of green areas and beautiful ponds in the middle of the city
2. Security is onsite riding around in a golf cart if you need assistance
3. There's a playground for younger children and bike ramps for older kids
4. There are beautiful walking trails that wind around the whole park
5. The music venue is perfect for any type of band.
6. It's a wonderful place to take pictures (check out the pictures I posted)
7. There are clean bathrooms onsite
8. It's a great way to spend an afternoon with the family
9. It's free!
10. The new baseball park is coming soon!

I visited Railroad park for the first time recently. I had heard about it from all my friends and thought that it would be difficult to live up to my expectations, yet it did.

There was plenty of lush plant life (even in winter) and the dimensionality of the terrain was impressive. The water pools and streams were a nice touch, mingled in between the walking trails.

There is a pavilion, a children's play park, and special challenge areas for those with pets.

There are security cameras well placed about the park and the view from the trails is open and clear.

Regardless if you are going alone or in a group- on a date, a picnic, walking your dog, training for a race, doing a workout routine, or just plain taking a break, Railroad Park has something for you.

And did I mention there are trains?
