“Creative Urban Space”
Reviewed 21 October 2013 via mobile

Birmingham's Railroad Park is a key piece in a downtown area that is blossoming into something very special.

The park is located near the new Regions Field baseball park and is a short walk to the Peanut Depot, UAB, and the center of the financial district.

The park is a great space for jogging, throwing a frisbee, or for children to play. It is also a great venue for outdoor concerts. Parking is usually very easy.

The only negative is the lack of development around the park. Restaurants, museums, shops, and services will come, but they are not here yet.

“Creative outdoor space, loved it.”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

I loved checking out this park in Birmingham. It was a really well done arrangement of a big open space that offered paths, green spaces, ponds, benches, plants, and a pavilion type setup where people could sit in the shade, eat, etc. If I was to visit Birmingham again I would definitely go back. You could easily go here to have a picnic or listen to music. Hopefully there are more projects like this in Birmingham!

“Nice use of a formerly uninhabited area.”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

This has-been location from decades gone by gets a nice, but underwhelming cleanup and a fresh start. The water areas are nice, the artwork tasteful but not necessarily cutting-edge, and the buildings crafted to resemble railway boxcars are a witty touch.

“Good place for some inner city exercise!”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

It is great to see some place in Birmingham's downtown that offers nature and some outside fun. Between the weekend events there, the outdoor concerts and the daily crowd of people using the track for exercise, this park is becoming a great place for family fun! Yes, there are a few times that I've been there and seen a few rough looking characters, mainly at night, but I've never had anything happen. I think they were there just to enjoy the venue as well.
