Owner description: Historic iron manufacturing facility

This was a roadside stop on a 2 week trip --abandoned but saved for public display --we enjoyed being able to just walk around and TOUCH -CLIMB --PHOTO the entire premises ---kids will love the fact they can go thru the facility without being "limited" to viewing from behind roped off area!! and if u have a ghost adventure fan --well --they will be looking for filming sites --for those that LOVE history --it was just plain FUN to check a bygone era --and imagine what it was like to work there --u could still smell the metals --it was FREE ---what is not to like about that !!!

You are either going to really like it, or be bored silly. I can't believe the condition of the place, it's like walking onto a movie set about the end of the world. You can go practically anywhere and the place just is something I have never seen. It is true history without it being buffed up, cleaned and railed off. Read About The Place First. We had no trouble finding it, I was worried about the area but seeing the other visitors I became more comforable. The twists of machinery, gears, and the feeling of the past workers fill the place. I fully intend on returning.

great place for concerts, barbecues, etc. Halloween they have Sloss Fright Furnace...a huge haunted house throughout the furnace! Lines are long but they play horror movies on a projector in the dark while you wait and have food and drinks available for purchase! Fun, fun, fun!
