“Fantastic View”

I didn't realize central Alabama had such a high mountain. Fantastic view of Birmingham, also a nice little picnic area if you'd like to lunch al fresco.

“Amazing view of Birmingham”

The observation deck was a little frightening, but I do have a fear of heights. It is still an amazing statue and park. it was a great stop and the staff was very kind and informative.

“a must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

Sculpted by Italian artisans more than 90 years ago, this landmark symbolizing Birmingham's minerals and metals industry, provides not only a lovely setting, but also panoramic views of the city below. There is also an excellent museum and visitor center. And...no matter how hot and humid it is elsewhere, there is always a cool breeze at the summit here.

“You can see it from the highway!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

Well, my wife spotted it - I was busy watching where we were going in the traffic - so, we went back the next day. Drove up Red Mountain and into Vulcan Park. To visit the mini-museum and ride the elevator to Vulcan's observation deck is $5 or $6 depending on your age :-) It's a good view of downtown Birmingham and the lady running the elevator suggested coming back at night to enjoy the lights of the city below.
