“Wonderful 2 BR suite”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

The suite was very spacious with 2 full separate bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms and extra vanities. There is a large living area, large dining or meeting table. The living area also has a pull out sofa. This suite is a great value even without the complimentary breakfast and afternooon reception.

Clean hotel, friendly staff. Omelet cook was very friendly and omelets were the best (give her a raise, please) she works hard. only desk clerks need to be more approachable. Room was nice and huge. The restaurant was pricey but good. Need another option for food in the hotel.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the Breakfast service and delivery. We have many affordable restaurants located in SOHO which is 2 miles from the hotel. During your next visit we would be happy to provide you with a list of restaurants in that area as well as downtown Birmingham. Our complimentary shuttle is available to take you within 5 miles of the hotel which would include SOHO as well as downtown restaurants. I apologize for the service experience at the Front Desk and I will review with the Front Office Manager and the team this afternoon.

We look forward to serving you again in the future!

Sincerely,
Heather Strauss

The staff at this particular hotel are TOP NOTCH! Always willing to go out of their way to assist and make your stay as comfortable as possible; however, the hotel itself really needs a facelift. I have stayed at this particular hotel every year, at this time, for the last 4 years. This year I did notice the new carpet in common areas (it's nice, but makes it almost impossible to push a luggage cart on it). The room furnishings look and FEEL outdated, the couch in the living room is like sitting on center blocks. We only had 1 remote control for 2 tv's, the power outlet next to the desk didn't work, and the telephone was across the room from the desk (very odd when trying to conduct business.)

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the staff. We have completed some recent updates and have several more areas we will be enhancing over the next few months. We will complete the painting of the exterior within two week, update the Lobby furniture next month, and rennovate all of our balcony sliding glass doors over the next 90 days. I appreciate your business and look forward to meeting you in person during your next visit to discuss the changes!

Cheers,
Heather Strauss

We checked in late on Friday and stayed through Sunday while in town visiting friends. The front desk staff were very welcoming. We found our room to be clean and quite, which is nice during a weekend stay. Had dinner one night at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, very good. Breakfast was above average than most Embassy Suites we've stayed at. Area and tables were clean, food was fresh.

Stayed here with my family and it was a mixed bag. The good: Helpful and friendly front desk staff, free upgrade to oversized suite with conference table. The not so good: Poor lighting and no seating in the bedroom, lots of deferred maintenance -door lock didn't work right, missing drain cover in bathroom sink, damaged vanity in bathroom. This property was fine for a one night stay but I wouldn't want to stay here for much longer.

the balconies are a really nice amenity but overall management is mediocre. get up early if you want any breakfast. lobby is confusing due to the steak house and constant non-guest traffic. hotel is hard to find even with gps. room service is very good. desk clerks act like they just got off work.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding Room Service. I apologize you had difficulty finding the hotel as well as the Lobby traffic. We have added a Lobby host in the evenings this week to assist guests and address many of your concerns. I also want to apologize for the Front Desk staff attitude as this is not the service you deserve and we normally deliver. I will share your comments with the Front Office staff and hope you will stay with us in the future when you are in the Birmingham area.

Sincerely,

Issues at Embassy Suites
On arrival:
· No washcloths
· No body lotion
· No suite case rack
· Room door does not close automatically
· Room clock setting incorrect
First Breakfast:
· No take-out coffee cups
· No muffins
2nd Day:
· No washcloth
· No body lotion (told by front desk, that they were out)
3rd Day: no significant problems

Just a general lackadaisical attitude of staff, tables in dining area have multiple scratches on edges, elevator entrances have multiple scratches. Wake up call system 10 min off (asked for call at 0515, received call at 0525); told front desk staff and they said they would contact engineering; on 2nd day no change still 10 min off; on the 3rd day it was 15 min off.
