When we checked in, I thought things were going to be good. The front desk was operated by Jeffery Rhinehart who was super helpful. He was very nice and saw to it we were brought a blanket and a blow dryer (the room didn't have either.) We had a few ants on our pillows and in the sheets but they were dead and we were exhausted. The bed was great, slept well. Got up next morning and Starbucks was closed, no complimentary coffee or tea in the lobby (standard everywhere and we've been to many as we are platinum marriott members) and were told by Mary to use the coffee provided in our room. We could get the Starbucks drip coffee they had prepared in the back for themselves, but she had to charge us for it, and had no idea what coffee it even was (ie. Breakfast Blend, Pike's Peak, Sumatra) she said "what's the difference, it's just the regular coffee." We would even have to pay for tea bags, even though they are nowhere else! The one cup brewer in the room, with three pods, no extra sugar, no real creamer, no cups with lids, and no tea in the room. I'll sleep in a bed with ants lol, but don't mess with my caffeine. Mr. Rhinehart needs to retrain the whole lot of them on the day shift we spoke to. The evening shift was nice!

Dear WendyKayAhmad,

Thank you for sharing your experience with our staff. This is an opportunity to provide training for our staff on the products we offer. You obviously travel a lot with our Marriott hotels.
First, let me say that your experience with the ants was unacceptable. We will be reviewing our bed inspection process with our inspectors. Again, thank you so much for sharing this information with me.
As for the coffee provided in the lobby, it is now a brand standard for Courtyard by Marriott that only Starbucks Coffee is provided. We also serve Starbucks Tea. The coffee made in the back was actually Starbucks coffee which we brew 24 hours a day so that our guests may purchase from our desk during times when the Bistro is not open.
The addition of Starbucks to our hotels meets the needs of many of our travelers who prefer specialty drinks as well as the darker roast drip coffee. In an effort to meet the needs of our travelers who do not wish to purchase coffee, we still offer the Barista Roast in your room free of charge. While we do not place liquid creamer in the rooms we are always happy to provide with just a phone call to our Guest Service team.
We want all of our travelers to have a great experience with our hotel and staff. We are here to serve and meet the needs of our guests. It is my opinion that we failed to provide you acceptable options during this stay. Our leadership team will review how this could have been resolved to your satisfation. Please feel free to reach out to me for further discussion.
Sincerely, BethJ

Relaxing & attractive. Very updated. My only issue was the configuration of the room seemed very odd. Also, very little space at sink especially because fridge is under the sink & sticks out. No way 2 folks can get ready at the same time. The bathroom is very, very roomy

Dear Tutunc,

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with our hotel. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience. We love to share stories with our associates in our daily meetings.

I wanted the let you know that we are resolving the issue with our curent refrigerators which are too large for the space under the vanity. The last part of our renovation is the shipment of refrigerators that is due to arrive at our location. They were purchased based on the space available.

Best regards,

Beth J

No complaints about this hotel. Great location near many restaurants and easy to get to off the highway. The hotel lobby is really nice and can tell it was recently renovated. Room was clean and loved the small balcony. There was a decent amount of road noise with the balcony door open, but was very quiet when it was closed. No free breakfast, but it is close to several good breakfast options.

Quiet, pleasant atmosphere in a mixed-purpose location of office buildings and a shopping complex. Conveniently located at the confluence of two major highways with more shopping, dining, and office parks very close by. Room was clean and well appointed. What appeared to be a base-price room was equipped with a subcompact refrigerator; a welcome touch. Signs marked "Closed for Maintenance" were observed at one side entrance (no room key access, requiring one to walk around to the main entrance) and the pool/spa area (spa was closed for maintenance for the duration of this four night stay). On the first day, the television in the fitness room was not working (but was repaired by end of day). An unidentifiable electrical wire with some sort of electronic component attached was sticking out of the air conditioning unit. Staff were very courteous and greeted all guests who passed near them. Checkout was quick and painless. The monitor at a printing station in the lobby "wakes up" with an opening splash screen of all major airlines and a link to check in to whichever airline is selected. As with all Courtyards, breakfast is not provided gratis. At this location, a mixed grill was present with a Starbucks bar operating in the morning, a light lunch of sandwiches and related fixings at lunch, and just off the front desk were several refrigerated cases with snacks for purchase at the front desk available at all hours. Fitness room and business center are also open at all hours, but the swimming area closes at 11p. The fitness room was equipped with towels and a water dispenser of both chilled and hot water, but lacked antibacterial wipes to clean the equipment after use. Word has it that this location recently staged a well-publicized grand opening after undergoing extensive renovations.

Room Tip: The side of the hotel where the main entrance is located faces a major highway. Road noise is faint...

Dear Richriss,

We appreciate your positive feedback, as well as the opportunity to report on the status of issues that you encountered. The hotel has been newly renovated and as the last piece of this renovation we are waiting on the arrival of our new room refrigerators. We are very excited about the addition of this amenity.
Our chief engineer is running through rooms to locate the exposed wire on the AC unit that you mentioned to resolve this oversight.
We were also able to get the part in for our side entrance so, guests do not have to walk to the main entrance when it is more convenient to use the side.
For the Fitness Room a checklist is in place for each shift to ensure that we do not run out of wipes and it is well maintained.
It is only through our guests eyes that we grow and exceed expectations. Thank you for this opportunity.

Best regards,

Beth J

This is an excellent courtyard. We were upgraded to a suite which had a balcony. Very nice area close to the summit mall and Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Many other restaurants within 3-5 minutes. Staff here is first rate. The downside is you pay for breakfast at Courtyards, or eat out. Whirlpool was out of order, but heated pool was nice. Gym has two high level treadmills which we used. Plan to return to this property next trip to Birmingham.

Dear Contributor,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciate your loyalty to Marriott as a Gold Elite member. You will be happy to know that our spa is now open.

If a rate inclusive of breakfast is important to you, we do have packages inclusive of breakfast based on the number of people in your room. These packages with breakfast still allow you to stay at a rate that is comparable to those hotels offering a complimentary breakfast.

Thank you again for your time. We will share your experience with our management and staff.
If you find yourself in Birmingham we would love to be your lodging provider.

Best regards,

Beth J
