“A sight to behold!”

Upper Seasonal Sea in Jiuzhaigou Valley
Reviewed 11 January 2012

It was partly covered with snow and ice when I visited it this December. Lovely and scenic.

Visted Jiuzhaigo with my husband and another couple in early Sept 2010. It is indeed one of the most beautiful places we have visited. It is also probably one of the few places in China that has fresh clean air. We took the bus that carries tourists through and fro the Park. We followed the advice from past and recent reviews of people on tripadvisor website on tips to explore the Park and it was extremely useful.

We went up to almost the top of the mountain and saw some of the most beautiful "seas" (as the locals prefer to call them) which we would classify them as lakes. All the "lakes" have different name given to them. The water was extremely clear with turqoise/blue/green colour and together with the mountain on the background, the breathtaking sceneries were just magical. Strangely, up in the mountain we could not catch a glimpse of any wildlife. We could definitely hear the sound of the waterfall and were not disappointed that we followed the sound and walk all the way down to see it.

The hike was not bad as there are boardwalks that were nicely constructed which lead us to each lakes or sightseeing spots. We definitely cannot deny the fact that these are real natural beauty on earth.

The top of the mountain would be the forest reserve which not many people or none would want to hike up. The whole idea is to see the surrounding lakes, waterfall and mountain in the surrounding area. As we were there in early autumn, missed the change of the beautiful colour of autumn leaves. However, we are glad to sight such natural beauty.

One note of caution is that the weather up in the mountain can be unpreditable. It can change very suddenly. So be prepared to bring some extra clothings, hats and raincoats along. Buses in the park run from 7.30 am to approx 6.30 pm in the evening daily. The way to do it is to go to the top and hike your way down as were mentioned by all the reviews including from us.

All in all, a must trip for people who want to see a natural beauty UNESCO HERITAGE SITE.
