I am trying to think of something positive about this hotel but it is very hard. The only one might be that other places are worst.
The place looks impressive but the experience is not.
No wifi in the room, you have to go to the lobby. They have AC but they stop it at 3am!?!?
Breakfast is strictly Chinese food. Rooms are old and dark. Carpet appears dirty. There was a small fridge with drinks in it but not plugged in. The tv was old.
On the other hand the shower was hot and a bit of english was spoken at the front desk. Only one person when checking out so it took forever.

This hotel is huge but to be honest it didn't really live up to it's five star rating. Not even close. You will need Mandarin unless your requests are very straightforward or if you are lucky enough to come across one of the few staff with more than stock phrases in English. The staff are pleasant enough but not particularly helpful.

The breakfast is Chinese style and passable although forget about the coffee unless you like instant.

We had a suite and while it was roomy it was also a bit run down. The hot water in the shower ran cold intermittently. There is no wifi although the hotel provides LAN in the rooms.

There is a bar tucked away at the back of the hotel and you will probably have it to yourself. Don't expect cocktails although they do have bottles of wine and spirits for sale. They will even order up beer from the restaurant if you ask. We couldn't spot any other bars in Turpan so we were quite pleased to have this facility. There is a karaoke lounge in the basement but I wouldn't recommend it for comfortable socialising.

This hotel is probably a cut above the rest of the hotels in Turpan but I got the sense that it is mostly used to cater for the execs of the petrol company that owns it. It's not set up for tourists, that's for sure. I would be tempted to try one of the other hotels if I ever came to Turpan again but I certainly wouldn't say that the Tuha is a bad option.

Room was on sixth floor overlooking an artificial lake across the road. Two prowls of fresh fruit on a side table, with free bottled water .bed chinesnstyle but not overly hard. Shower bath clean and polished. Breakfast was average tomogoodmand plenty of it, especially fresh fruit. Coffee dreadful.
Ate at night market just up the road which was delightful.

We had a suite so we had loads of space. The bedding was new and clean, towels was white and yes maybe some marks of the carpet but everything that you used was clean. The beds are very hard but pillows were great. The reason the beds are hard is that its what the chinese are use to and not a western style bed. Close to good restaurants and a supermarket for water etc etc.
Would stay again if I had to go to Turpan.

This is a huge hotel - the public rooms resemble a palace of mirrors. The staff were friendly and pleasant, and an attempt was made to cater for western breakfast tastes. We had a large bedroom furnished with comfortable chairs, and a fine view of the city. But there were dirty marks on the carpet, and the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. And the beds were as hard as floorboards.

I'm not sure how this hotel got a 5 star rating, its reasonable, but not 5 star. We stayed 1 night in June.
Its reasonably well appointed, modern, good sized rooms, good soundproofing, and clean bathroom. Like all Chinese hotels it has the lingering smell of the previous guests' cigarette smoke, but that’s just the way it is. We arrived on the early train from Dunhaung. They let us into our rooms at approx 8am. We very much appreciated the opportunity for a shower after a very grotty train trip. (Our soft sleeper cabin in the train had used linen, smelly food waste and ashtray emptied in the rubbish tin – altogether an unpleasant experience, but that’s no fault of this hotel.)
Turpan in June is very hot, and the air-conditioning struggled to keep up, and did a good enough job that we got a good night’s sleep. Breakfast had a good range of choices.

Technically, this hotel is a rated 5 star. That's a joke when you compare it to Beijing or a larger city. But, when in Turpan, this is what passes for a 5 star. The breakfast was only so-so, the room okay with wired internet, the beds rock hard in traditional Chinese fashion. The hotel was fairly empty and the spa was room service only. Don't have to draw me a picture to figure that out. Don't, I repeat, don't get a room on the south side during the summer. The air con is only minimal and the south side rooms are sauna-like. The clerk checking in put us to the shady side and thank goodness she did.

Overall, a decent hotel for the money since the location is central and the petroleum name thing only indicates the ownership since there is a lot of oil drilling in the area and apparently the workers and managers stay here. There was a pool, but I never saw it. The bar is in the basement and the other restaurants were closed. Room service (food) is available.

Room Tip: Avoid south side rooms in summer.
