“Get in for FREE if you go early!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is a wonderful location for great photos and for the scenery. It is a very peaceful place and is great in the morning. If you are willing to get there earlier than the gatekeeper, you can enter with no charge and I highly advise it!

“Too much Walking”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

We were in Wangfu Hotel near the South Gate, after a long long walk, we reached BDPP, only to be told we needed to pay Rmb 80 per person. Anyways after getting inside, we were too tired to really enjoy the place. It seemed tranquil, and the reflection of the Snow Jade Mt is nice. Getting a taxi in Lijiang is always scary because of the aggressive behaviour of the drivers, so in case one can get to it fresh enough, you may not enjoy it.

HInt : Since you'll be paying the Tourist Tax at your hotel Rmb 80 per person, you might get the receipt before hand, and this should enable you to avoid paying the entrance. Also in the late evening, when the weather is any case cooler, you could even avoid paying the admission.

“Nice But Expensive”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

It is a nice park but the entrance fee is expensive. Beware of some local who will approach you with the lure of "smuggling in" without paying the entrance fees. They will charge you half of the entrance fees. When I checked with some of the tourists there, some of them told me that they entered free through a different gate!

Overall, Lijiang is a very expensive place. It is ridiculous for tourist having to pay RMB80 as "Protection Fee" for going to any attractions.

“Beautifully manicured gardens in an extensive setting.”
Reviewed 29 April 2014 via mobile

This is an iconic place for the photo opportunity. However, even on a cloudy day without the trace of the snow capped mountains, it is well worth the effort! A range of architectural styles, a path around the lake and a few refreshment areas make this a restful and attractive location. The 80 yuan entrance fee is a bit steep for this attraction alone, but remember that it is going towards the upkeep of this extraordinary old town, which is a treasure.

“Very beautiful”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

A good photo spot, very clean and beautiful. The entrance fee is 80 yuan which is quite expensive, if you are short on budget you can keep walking north from the main entrance crossing through the cultural college of Lijiang and enter for free from the north gate, the catch is the entrance is quite hidden! Also beware of the locals who offer you an entrance for half the price at the south gate, as they would actually smuggle you inside through the river :D not too bad if you're up for some stealth adventure!
