yes, it's touristy but also less crowded as the rest of the city. Nice museum at the north side entrance on Dongba/Naxi Culture. A must to see also for Chinese tourists.

Although most tourists will stay within the overcrowded LiJiang old town, this park is where one can find tranquillity and beauty just a short walk away. From the main town square, follow the canal north which is a beautiful walk as well. There is an entrance fee which might explain why it has few visitors. There are several bridges and pavilions and the snow capped mountains in the background provide for some beautiful pictures. A quiet place away from the bustle of the main tourist area.

We have seen many parks in China and this one is still pretty with the water, bridges, trees and pagodas that we have come to associate with them. It is easy to get too- we walked 10 minutes from the old town to the entrance. You will need to buy (or take if you have already bought) the 50 RMB ticket that covers the Lijiang area.

We also climbed Elephant Hill which was worth it for the views. However the climb to begin with involves lots of steps- you will want plenty of water with you but there are several viewpoints along the way so you can catch your breath! You are signed in at the bottom using your passports. At the crossroads we took the left fork which seemed to take us to the higher peak. The views of the mountains and Lijiang itself were lovely.
