Bol is a beautiful town and this is my second year vacationing here in the Summer. Both times, we were traveling as a couple, and both times we stayed for about three weeks using Adria Apartments. Staying in the apartments was a great option for us as we wanted the flexibility, privacy, and space, rather than staying in a huge, busy hotel.
Adria has a HUGE selection of apartments so I advise that you do your homework. Look carefully through the photos and the map and ask about walking distances. We had chosen our apartment based on some interactions with the Adria office. The apartment that we had originally chosen was unavailable for the duration of our stay, so we were referred to a new apartment on the same complex (Anna 3), which we were told wasn't on the website yet, but looked "exactly like the other apartment". We loved the look of the first place, so it was an easy decision. However, we were very disappointed when we checked into the apartment to find that it was not forwards facing (no natural light or direct access to the pool on the property), was a converted part of the property (doors leading to other apartments that were not ours, unfinished rooms that weren't locked, washing machine that wasn't plugged in in one of these rooms), and that there was a leak in the bathroom. We alerted the management, who did come and try to fix the problem a couple of times, telling us it must have been when we showered. This was not the case, as the leaks came mostly in the morning when we woke up, probably from upstairs... It was not what we expected from our correspondence with Adria, or from the price that we were paying.
After a few days of this, we were luckily relocated to a different apartment (Rina 13) that Adria had just finished. The Adria did a great job of looking after us despite the problems in the first apartment, such as helping us with laundry and letting us stay at this new apartment at the same cost as the original place. This apartment was much nicer, with great natural light and no problems with leakages etc. As there is a lot of development in Bol, this apartment was next to some building sites, but there was no noise, just some dust on the paths.
Bol is expanding so do check the location of the apartment you choose. For us, the walking was no problem. We stayed about 10-15mins walk (uphill) from the main town, which we enjoyed, as it was away from all the busy streets and restaurants. We were within short walking distance of the local supermarket for our daily essentials, but we did most of our shopping at the local markets which are right at the bottom of the hill by the harbour of Bol. (Well worth it if you are staying at the apartments!) The staff at Adria were also incredibly accommodating as we requested a blender to make fresh juices -- they were happy to assist with this, which made a huge difference in our stay.
All in all, after the initial hiccups, we had a wonderful stay at Rina 13. The apartment had a proper kitchen and dining facilities, which made for many lovely evenings spent in the apartment -- a great option, especially if you are traveling for a long time. The wifi was decent at the apartment, and we enjoyed the outdoor space. We found, in our experience, that beds in Bol (in general) aren't super comfortable, so just bear this in mind :)
Thanks, Adria, for looking after us during our time in Bol. We will be back to visit next year! :)
