“Great beach hotel”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

Spent three wonderful days in this hotel. The location is unbeatable if you want to have a quick swim from a beautiful beach in the morning and/or in the evening without schlepping to the beach for miles first. And all this with a free on-site parking (admittedly, not that easy to find, especially if driving at night).
I would have described the room ("Garden view") as large were it not so cluttered with redundant no-frills furniture. Had to move furniture around to make room for our suitcase. Rooms and common areas do somewhat lack character but the bottom line is that everything is there and functional. There's a fridge in the room (unstocked). Free WIFI was very reliable and fast enough for Skype calls. The breakfast was more than decent - can't really understand what some people complain about. There's even an ATM in the lobby.
Someone complained below that they found nobody at the reception when arriving late at night - apparently all you need to do is ask! We also were arriving around 23:00, asked if that were ok and were assured that they would wait for us as long as it takes us, even if we would miss the 21:00 ferrry from Split and arrive well after midnight.
Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Room A9 (and I'm pretty sure at least A10 too) overlooks a service alley where a noisy garbage t...

I contacted the hotel to request a free courtesy pick up from the harbour. You can walk along the promenade, which is about 20 mins. But we had rucksacks and much easier to get a lift. We got the ferry from split and arrived at 1730. Our lift was there and within minutes we arrived at the hotel. Check In was quick and our bags already taken to the room.

We had a garden view double room, and it was was perfect for what we needed. Clean, big and airy rooms. You have a little table, chairs and a clothes airer outside your room. The outside area is like a little holiday camp, there are other rooms around a big square.

The breakfast is very average, and as a result i ate very little. But every morning at breakfast a lady called Susanna was there and would ask how everything is, and answer any questions you have around the island, she is more knowledgable than the tourist information centre (and way more friendly). This was a really nice touch and she was very friendly.

The walk to the beach is so easy and 2 minutes. The pebbly beach is nice, although the price of beds is shocking. It's something like £7 per bed without an umbrella. There were hundreds of beds not being used, and lots of people lying on the beach with their towels. They could take most of the beds away and give more room for us towel users!! We sat and had drinks in Auro bar, really nice bar. The food on offer at the beach is from take away vans, thought this was strange and that the drinks bar could also offer food???

The walk from the hotel to the centre is a lovely walk, only 20 mins. There are great places to have dinner and gelato. Bol is a beautiful place, although very eastern bloc. Having now arrived in hvar, bol is the poorer relation!!

this hotel wasn't what I excepted for the price I paid, the location was great and rooms were clean but small, I was very disappointed in breakfast as a yoghurt I picked up was covered in mould, not much choice. I wouldn't give this hotel a 4* rating!

Great location, loved the beach. We had a two bed apartment which was spacious and comfortable - except that the air con units were in the main bed room and sitting room which meant that the second bedroom was really hot. Other problems - no view at all, and in fact almost no windows which was rather odd and we didn't like that we shared our little terrace/porch area with the next room. However we only used the room in the evenings so these irritations weren't really a major issue. Lovely sun terrace overlooking the sea if we did want to sit was just a few steps away - although this was for all the hotel we didn't see anyone else use it. Loved the restaurant, breakfast was food and dinner lovely. Friendly staff. Would go again.

This hotel is ok - it's clean, the staff are very friendly and it's in a good location if you want Zlatni Rat beach (not sure why you would?) but it does lack a little charm, character, etc. Ordinarily I would have given it an average rating but we did have the king of sleeps whilst we were there hence the bonus point

HotelBol, General Manager at Zlatni Rat Beach Hotel, responded to this review, 13 September 2013
Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review and thank you for giving us an extra star solely for the quality of your sleep at the hotel. This hotel is especially quiet due to its location away from the busy town centre and as for Zlatni Rat beach, it's a bit like Marmite - you either love it or hate it! Some guests would go to no other beach and others, like yourself, prefer the charm of the smaller, quieter, less-crowded beaches that can also be found nearby.

Thank you once again for leaving this review - your comments and feedback will be taken into consideration and will certainly inform our future plans for the hotel.

Best regards from sunny Bol,

Ivana

This hotel consists of apartment style rooms and a cafe right on the Bol promenade overlooking Zlatni Rat beach.

Positive:
- The suite rooms was recently renovated, beautiful and stylish. We had an apartment (aka suite) with two bedrooms and a living room - the suite living rooms are large with comfortable sofas and a modern tv.
- The location is perfect - the beach is below the cliff at which the hotel is situated. Also, it is sufficiently far away from the rest of Bol that there is no noise from the nightlife.
- The hotel cafe - breakfast location and then open all day is really a find. You overlook the beach and beautiful ocean and at the same time can people watch as is is right on the Bol promenade so every beach goer passes is.
- The wireless internet is fast enough, stable and reaches all of the hotel as far as I can tell (including the cafe).
- For some reason the hotel cafe keeps playing tasteful music at a sensible volume at night - Leonard Cohen, Tracy Chapman and Sade at the nights we were there.

Negative:
- However, some times they have some dude with a bad accent playing old songs with his organ. It's not too loud though.
- The beds are a bit too hard and not of high quality.
- The aircon in the rooms is of the noisy type.

Not sure why it is four star if our stay was the norm. Hotel lacked character and atmosphere and was very quiet after 10:30. Lights didn't work, couldn't connect to wifi rooms clean but a bit bland. Zlatni beach nice to look at but found better beaches at opposite end of Bol
