A MUST VISIT ON BRAC!

Staying in Bol, we wondered whether this would be worth the 30min drive up... it certainly was! We were lucky enough to time it perfectly for sunset and it’s one of the BEST we’ve EVER seen.

You can drive all the way up but we parked at the entrance before the top (778m away apparently). It’s a nice walk up through the forest and, although uphill (obviously!), it isn’t strenuous at all.

Definately worth the drive through pretty forest to the top - the road is well signposted and sealed all the way and there is ample parking at the top. The views are pretty hazy but you do see Zlatni Rat and and the island laid out below.

We were part of a walking holiday group and walked from an insignificant ghost village called Gažul up to Vidova Gora. This was good because it was shady woodland on the way up, and only a 200m ascent. The walk down to Bol is a long (700m) descent and there is no shade. As we went down, we passed several people and groups who were presumably walking up from Bol, so it's clearly a popular route. Frankly, the idea of walking up it in the direct sunshine and the heat only to turn round and walk down again is not appealing to me; on the other hand, our starting point required a vehicle to get us there. The view from the top was good and there was some interesting wildlife to see on the way down.

The highest point of Brac & the views are absolutely breathtaking, an absolute must if you’re visiting the island. Accessible by road, hiking or as we did Jeep Safari
