“a life savers!”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

I was sleeping there last month. At that time,pre-season, there where no ready bed in whole Bol. I needed to sleepover somewhere, and it was allready 8pm. I knocked and they said that hotel is not opened untill tomorrow. Then the manager saw my probably horrified face, and said: "ok, we can deal with emergency only". The staff, young girl, was so kind with me although it was obvious that they need to work a lot for opening. They where really all pleasent and helpfull. My room was clean, big enough for two, with brand new furnithure and absolutly amazing view.
Thank you guys :)

We stayed in the hotel Kastil in Bol one night on a self-guided bicycle tour of Croatia. Our choice was influenced by internet descriptions, by a promise of some historical ambiance, and by an apparent paucity of alternatives. It was the poorest experience of any of the dozen plus nights and properties in Croatia. We found no hint of historical ambiance. There were problems with the room. And the staff was inconsiderate on several occasions. Only the internet provided a positive experience.

Our hotel room was a standard plain hotel room in need of some maintenance and upgrades. There were scuff marks all over the walls. There was just one outlet in the entire room – taken of course by the TV. The shower had unusable hot water pressure. Furniture consisted of bed, night stands with bedside lights, and work desk. One wall was painted in a decorator color which along with a flat screen TV were the only upgrades we noticed. The bathroom was clean, but had a pedestal sink with no place to put toiletries except on the floor. Both the bathroom and the bedroom were among the smallest we experienced anywhere in Croatia. The room by itself would not have left a bad impression had it not been for repeated negative interactions with the staff.

Right at check-in we got the feeling the staff at Hotel Kastil were the least friendly of anywhere in Croatia. We asked for suggestions for best place to store our bicycles and were essentially told the hotel would not help us with a location. After returning a few hours later we noticed a large and barely used storage closet with a convenient place to affix our lock. So we put our bicycles there. Just as we finished collecting our things, a member of the hotel staff came and yelled at us. A not very friendly discussion followed; in the end, our bikes stayed in the storage closet. Later that evening, we realized that we did not know the breakfast time. So we went to the front desk and asked [a different person] when breakfast started. We were told 07:00. The next morning we arrived in the breakfast room at 07:15 to find breakfast not yet ready. Instead of offering coffee and apologizing the staff scolded us for arriving early. Seems they wanted breakfast to start at 7:30. Incidentally, the staff’s English was the poorest of any of our Croatia stays.

We stayed here last month. The location is perfect, we faced the habour above the pizza place below but were not bottered by noise as the glazing is very good. Breakfast is fairly plain but plentyful. The terrace with sea views is lovely. Rooms small but very clean and housekeeper always had our room made up by the time we returned from breakfast. Loads of places to eat and drink nearby, if you like fresh fish you will be in heaven. Possibly not enough to do for a full week as no pool etc unless you venture off Bol. i would recommend trips to Havar and Split, you can see boats to both from the hotel. There was a problem with wasps but this seemed to be island wide and not just at the hotel.

We had a simple room with window out the harbour, but good quality furnishings, comfy bed, good shower, all that you need & eurosport for our tennis!
Good double glazing as their is a lively pizzeria underneath. We weren't disturbed but did pick the top floor, having read another review.
Don't book end rooms over a cocktail bar with loud music if you are a light sleeper.
Some rooms have balconies but are very close to the music downstairs.
Nice breakfast on beautiful terrace. View can't be beaten.
Staff helpful when we had a last minute change of booking.
Will go again.
You need to walk with your luggage about 50m from car or bus. Free parking on road a little further away was no problem.

Room Tip: Pick top floor to reduce noise which isn't excessive. No lift though! Not end rooms over noisy b...

The Hotel and Kastil and Bol are two gems with a very good reason to visit both. Stayed 3 nights and the staff were kind efficient and helppful. They emailed our next stop to arrange pick up from ferry. Loved the place and the time we spent there. Buffet breakfast is very good and the view from the terrace stunning overlooking the bay.

We spent 2 nights here on our Croatian island hopping holiday and were very happy. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the location is fantastic - right on the water, only a short walk to the ferry, good room with a balcony overlooking the water. The buffett breakfast is good and view from the dining terrace is wonderful. Very easy to walk everywhere in Bol. It is a very clean town and the locals are very proud of this - a joy to visit.

There are a lot of positives to staying this hotel. Bol is a very nice family resort and this hotel is in the best location, right on the sea front in the centre. The hotel is very clean, has good staff and is well managed. we had a level 3 sea view room with a small balcony. Superb views of the boats and yachts which are continually arriving to drop day visitors off. Breakfast is nice and there are plenty of restaurants near bye. No real negatives, there is some low level noise at night till about 1am but with the windows on and the air conditioning cooling the room it did not stop us sleeping.

Room Tip: Pay a little more and pre book a sea view room with balcony.
