“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

An excellent hotel in a very quiet location. Well worth its 4 star rating, room was spotless (although the carpet was looking a little worn), bed linen and towels changed regularly.
The room safe, fridge and air con are all free of charge.
There are plenty of sun loungers around the great pool.
Daytime adult activities are well organised and good fun.
For an experience you won't forget, go to Dubrovnik on the local bus and on the return trip sit against the window on the left hand side (nearest the kerb) – the ride home will take your breath away ~ literally.
Food was good but not outstanding and did become a little repetitive after two weeks.
The nearest supermarket is a 15 minute walk around the bay in the town (Cavtat) centre.
Not a lot to do at night but the restaurant overlooking the bay next to the hotel do a sea bass to die for if you want a special night.
A taxi from the airport is about 100Kuna (£12ish) for those of you building your own holiday.
Dubrovnik is a half hour bus ride (Buses leave from the centre of Cavtat ~ No. 10 every half hour and 25Kuna (£3ish each way)).
If you want to visit Dubrovnik via boat then the boat leaves from the hotel bay every half hour or so and is about 180Kuna (£20+) each way.
Must close with a special mention to Jet2 who I flew with for the first time, plane was spotless, legroom great and the on board meal was the best I've ever had from a holiday supplier.

Room Tip: No bad ones I could see and never heard anyone complain

We have just returned from a brilliant holiday 2/7/14 for 14days . We returned having had a lovely holiday last year with our family ( our daughter aged 19 and son 15 insisted we go back- so glad we did. The hotel has changed management fromIberostar to Reminsens and subtle changes are been made - The young manager is very visable at all times . It was brilliant to meet up with Animation team again- (Tin - Ivan - Tamara- Anna- Victoria and Valentina ) who work so hard to involve the guests in a range of activities ( no pressure though) and they are very well led by Milorad- it was also good to see Dubravko and Ozren who now work at the sister hotel but acitively make the live evening shows so slick at both hotels. Mama Mia is performed very well.
We went AI and the food is very varied and of good quality - rooms and hotel very clean - the pool area is maintained to a high level.Great views over the bay
Cavtat is a beautiful place and an easy stroll to sit and have drink and view the super yachts. Overall a fantastic place to have a holiday - we hope to return next year

We had a 10 night all inclusive stay on 15th June and had booked with Jet2holidays. I emailed the hotel prior to arrival as i required diet coke on the all inclusive as i am diabetic. This was written on my room card. The hotel is quite basic for a 4 star. Food ok but very much the same everyday. Always spag bol, pasta with something and risotto. The service from the staff in the restaurant was very poor if you were on the all inclusve. They seemed to attend to the paying for drink guests first. The queue at the bar in an evening was quite long and having to explain i needed diet coke everytime was annoying. One evening they ran out of diet coke and i had to go to the bar in the al acarte restaurant downstairs, where the lady behind the bar gave me a bottle to keep. Diet coke was available but it was kept out of sight under the bar as if it was gold dust. The drinks on the all inclusive was laughable! Whiskey, gin, brandy, vodka, marschino (a cherry liquer which tasted like lighter fuel ugh!) no white rum, no cocktails. There was a snack bar near the pool, but all inclusive guests had to pay for the food in there and could only have drinks. Why have an all inclusive package where lots of things are not included. The entertainment team at the hotel are excellent and other staff could take note of their excellent people skills. Cavtat is a lovely place and a 20 min stroll around the bay. The twice we ate out there, the food was excellent. The ice cream shop on the right as you walk into Cavtat is also excellent. It is well worth a visit into Dubroknik old town. You can catch the number 10 bus in Cavtat, but it is better to get the boat back as you need to get a 1a or 1b bus into the new town of Dubroknik and get the number 10 bus back from the bus station. We would return to Cavtat but not to this hotel.

I travelled alone and got basic 2 pers room with double bed and semi seaside view. The room was at 4 th floor. Room was quite basic and small. Some places needs renovation (rooms, outside places). The food taste nothing. Many variations and selection at program for childrens and adults. Hotel swimming pool was quite sandy. Russian people keeped noise and took first places overall. Hotel situation near airport was good, fast start to vacation. 100 kunas (14 euros) was taxi price to hotel.
Near the hotel starts two different boat-line to Dubrovnik and nearside. To Dubrovnik price was 50-60 kunas and main terminal is near old town (Pile). Boat trip took 25 mins. The bus number 10 goes to Dubrovnik, near the hotel (cavtat central).

Just got back from a 7 night stay at the Albatros and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. As a couple in our mid 30s it was just what we were looking for. The room was spotless and quite modern, we were in block A and our balcony was sea to one side and mountains to the other we were never bothered by any noise either. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels replaced everyday too. There is a free safe in each room (although we did need ours resetting twice as we got locked in and out a couple of times) free wifi in the rooms too. We stayed half board and the meals are buffet style, always plenty of choice, at breakfast there was always someone cooking eggs to order and in the evenings there were always chefs cooking a fresh fish dish, a fresh meat dish and a pasta dish, there is also a pizza chef each night too. food was always hot and tasty.
The pool area was always spotless, beach/pool towels are provided, you need to get a ticket from reception and then exchange it for a towel from the wellness center, take the towel back when finished everyday, get your ticket back and get a fresh one the next day!
The entertainment team seemed to be doing a great job with the kids and there was plenty for adults to join in with too, aerobics, water polo etc but no one hassles you if you don't want to join in.
All the staff are helpful and friendly and speak more languages than i could mention :)

Cavtat is a 15 min stroll away and is great for a wander around, plenty of places to eat and drink, nice place to be on an evening too but very relaxed if you are looking for something more lively i'd recommend Dubrovnik.

Room Tip: we stayed in A226 quiet with no probs.

We returned to the hotel Albatros for the second year in a row after enjoying a great holiday last year when it was an Iberostar hotel.
The transition appears to have been seamless with the same lovely friendly staff and great food.
This year we had a side sea view which was excellent. We were on the 4th floor in block A and the room overlooked the tennis courts and was very quiet...just what we like.
I read in one of the reviews that you can leave your air conditioning on all day but I don't understand how as you have to take your key card out with you when you go out of the room and that controls the lighting and all of the electrics.
Anyway , the air conditioning isn't brilliant and never gets the temperature down to a comfortable cool level. Luckily the side of the hotel we were in does not get a lot of sun.
The resort of Cavtat is a very pleasant 15 minute stroll away round a beautiful bay. There are lots of lovely restaurants to eat in on the way and in the resort centre itself where the lovely marina awaits you. Super yachts to admire , people to watch , good food and drink at reasonable prices....absolute heaven.
The rat peninsular has a wonderful path to walk around and returns back to the centre with great views out to sea and up to the city of Dubrovnik which can easily be seen.
The Croation people are lovely and friendly , much better than other nationalities.
We were lucky to be there at Carnival time ( 2 days ) which was great fun to watch.
The resort is fabulous and I would recommend a holiday there.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at the hotel Albatros and would highly recommend it to couples looking for a place that is quiet, calm, with great food, great scenery and class. Oh and excellent value for money!!
The rooms are modern, spacious and clean. Free fridge, air con that you can leave on all day and free safety deposit box. Beach towells available and three different types of pillow!
Free wifi (rooms and around hotel).
The staff are excellent.
We enjoyed massages for £20 and the sauna (free) in the on-site spa. The massage was quite basic but still very relaxing.
Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas to go round, always. The pool is large and a good temperature for swimming.
Food and drink - excellent quality and plenty of it. The salad bar and smoothies were our favourite.
30 second walk to the beach (sun beds £3 per day each). Beach not overcrowded, always pleasant.
Lovely ten minute stroll to Cavtat each night. Plenty or restaurants and bars in the harbour to spend time in or just take a stroll by.
A very tranquil, relaxing place. Stunning setting and scenery.
Bus to Dubrovnik 30 minutes (£2) or 15 mins by taxi (£20). Would recommend at least one trip there to see the city wall and castle.
If you are a young couple looking for something lively i would recommend Dubrovnik. Cavtat has quiet bars and restaurants only.
If you do a boat trip to the Elifiti islands beware it's a lot of travelling by boat. Much more than expected in comparison to time spent on each of the islands. The boat was also very busy with not enough seating to go round.
We would most definitely return. Thank you for a great holiday hotel Albatros!
Our only negative/ recommendation: improve the evening entertainment, it was 2/10 and not on par with what was on offer during the day at all.

Room Tip: Block A and ask for a sea view.
