“Super stay”
Reviewed 3 October 2011

We have just returned from a week staying at the Hotel Cavtat in Cavtat! The weather was hot and a bit humid but bearable! The hotel sits right on the sea and there are views across the bay to Mlini. Our room had a sea view and was actually more of a suite than a hotel bedroom. The resort itself is quaint, uncommercialised and very beautiful. You could spend hours watching the comings and goings of the water taxis and boats of all sizes mooring to use the harbour facilities. What can I say about the Hotel Cavtat? It is listed as a 3 star hotel but like a fellow reviewer I would agree that it is a 3 star hotel with 5 star service! All the staff we met were kind, honest and helpful - they couldn't do enough for us! The meals (we were half board) were delicious and there was plenty of choice and quantity on offer at every meal, there was certainly no reason to go hungry!! The people of Croatia are a real breath of fresh air. When you consider what they have had to deal with in the last twenty years they are positive, pleasant and very welcoming - they are all looking forward rather than dwelling on the past. We shall definitely return to Croatia. The Croatian people and the people at this hotel in particular do their country proud and put us Brits to shame. Croatia has stolen our hearts. Thanks to everyone we met!!

We had a short 4 day break at the end of season and found the hotel exactly what it promised. We were a little dissappointed when we were allocated a back room without a sea view but, we didnt go there to sit in our room looking out from the balcony, the views are everywhere while you are out and about. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly throughout.
We only had b&b, breakfast was excellent, enough choices for everybody, so ok they dont do sausages and bacon like at home but.....newsflash....you're not at home!
Food and drink throughout the resort was excellent and really good value for money (which you need as your day trip to Dubrovnik will leave you feeling ripped off!). Overall this was perfect for us, if we return to Cavtat, we would probably look at the Iberostar Albatross, purely and simply because it has a swimming pool, but this is not a reflection on this hotel.

The hotel is idyllically situated in a very picturesque resort that is in easy reach, either by bus or boat, of Dubrovnik.
The view from the balcony looks over the bay and is absolutely stunning
The staff as with most Croatians are extremely friendly and helpful, and the hotel has clean bedrooms with a daily replacement of towels and bed linen.
it's a pity, then, that the buffet food, especially the evening meal, let them down: it was invariably bland and unadventurous, and on two occasions the hot dishes selected were cold

Room Tip: Apparently some of the rooms are quite small: our room, which was of an acceptable size, was on leve...

The best two weeks holiday we have had for a long time. Cavtat Hotel is very friendly with excellent service with a good choice of food for breakfast and evening meal. The view from our balcony was breath taking looking out to sea.The rooms were kept clean and towels and bedding changed daily by friendly staff.Cavtat is a beautiful place with plenty of bars and restaurants to pick from, with a good bus service to Dubrovnick.

Room Tip: Room with a sea view

Croatia is beautiful and cavtat is a lovely area ideal situation to vist dubrovnik by bus takes 30mins cost approx £2 oneway or water taxi £6. Cavtat is also only 30 mins from Montengro.
The Iberostar is a nice hotel needing a little updating, the staff are helpful and friendly especially those on reception. The view from the our room was spectacular over the sea I would have been extremely disappionted if i had been staying in a garden view room i would advise everyone to ensure a sea view when booking. The locaton of the hotel is the best in cavtat. Breakfast was very good, but unfortuately the down side to the hotel was the buffet evening meal the main courses we felt were very poor, this is the reason i would not rate the hotel as excellent. The fact that the hotel is a little tired did'nt really matter probably due to the view, but the evening meal needs to improve.

Room Tip: sea view room would be a must otherwise feel travelers would be disappointed

Have just returned from a lovely stay at the 3 Star Hotel Cavtat. The hotel may only be 3 star but you get 5 star service and views. The rooms are very tidy ( a little bit dated but that didn’t bother us) with a flat screen TV and good balcony area. Towels and bedding were changed daily which was excellent. The bathrooms are small and the shower blocks need modernizing but that is my only criticism. The breakfasts were lovely and better than 3 star, the evening buffet was good value and I have no complaints.
The hotel does not have a swimming pool but the see is just yards from the front of the hotel and you can swim safely in lido area, the hotel provides free sun loungers in its sea area. No beach so no sand in uncomfortable places! There is a sun deck on the top floor of hotel with an air conditioned room to cool off if you need to.
The view from our room was stunning ( hopefully my picture is with this review ) and it looked like all rooms had sea views but if you want the best ask for top floor.
Cavtat itself is a very picturesque resort with a small harbour that has some some stunning yachts in. Roman Abramovich’s yacht was in there early Aug. The cafes and bars are lovely and the service was good in every one we went in. We ate out in the restaurant Leut one night and the steaks were gorgeous.
If you are scuba diver like myself then there is a good dive centre 10 mins easy walk away called Epidarium at the Epidarus Hotel. They dive daily at 10 am and have a good dive boat and some interesting dives. I dived on 2nd century wreck that has been caged to protect it.
Dubrovnik is only a short trip away by boat (£10 return , 1 hour) or bus ( £2.5 single , 30-40 mins ) . Its well worth a visit and the war museum in the fort at the top of the cable car is very interesting. Its also stunning at night time , the last bus back leaves at midnight so you have plenty of time to spend an evening in the old town.
You can go on trips to Mostar in Bosnia and trips to Montenegro also boat trips to islands in the area. Lopud was my favorite Island.
Overall a lovely resort great value hotel and would/will gladly go back to Croatia and Cavtat.

We stayed at this hotel for a weeks holiday. The location is excellent , minutes from the main port area with the bars and restaurants. The town itself is beautiful and laid back. The hotel staff were helpful, room was functional and clean. There was good selection of food for breakfast (bacon, eggs, cereal, muesli, cheese, bread , pastries, fruit) . We stayed on b&b basis and while the breakfast was convenient, it wasn't something i looked forward to after a few days. However the hotel was good value and in a great location with a shop beside it and a hotel cafe/bar for drinks and snacks which were very reasonable.
I would describe the room as functional and clean.
The hotel provides safety boxes at reception, which require both reception key and your own key to open, which we thought was a good system.
Unfortunately on our check out date we could not get a late check out as the room was booked, so we had to settle for changing clothes in a room off reception and showered at the swimming area - which has cold showers and changing areas.
The swimming area is like a concrete jetty - not a beach - but it was great and very quiet and relaxing , even when busy. The water is so clear - bring your snorkel.
I would have two small issues - 1. On some occasions not enough sun beds were put out in the morning so we had to request them from reception and
2.We noticed a smell from the swimming area by the changing rooms on our last 2 days.

I would describe it as clean and functional but not luxurious and would probably stay here again.
One other point - when I emailed the hotel about airport transfer, they said this can be booked through their website.
Having looked at this option, which was approx €40, I decided to book a local taxi which was only about €15.
