“Just returned from Cavtat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2013

We have just returned from a 9 night stay at this lovely hotel. The hotel has just completed a refurbishment and everywhere is spotless. We enjoyed having a swim (with a fantastic view) in the amazing new pool on the sun terrace. The multilingual staff were without exception very helpful and charming, it was always a pleasure to speak to them. The atmoshere is relaxed and very comfortable, you are made to feel at home here. Our air conditioned room was one of the best we have ever stayed in with a fabulous balcony view over the bay. The breakfasts and evening meals were excellent with plenty of choice for all tastes, may be the diet starts now ! We would recommend this hotel to anyone, it really is first class.

Room Tip: Choose a high room with a sea view, it may cost more but it is worth it.

We have just returned from a week spent at the Hotel Cavtat and we should like to thank all the hotel staff for a wonderful holiday.

The hotel has obviously been recently modernised and redecorated. It is now mainly white with blue touches. Very Mediterranean and very cool looking. We were very happy with our bedroom which had a side sea view and a spacious balcony. It was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was a decent size. Soap, shower gel and hairdryer were all provided but it would have been nice to also find a tissue dispenser. Full marks for the air-conditioning which cooled the room efficiently without being too noisy.

We thought that the hotel was in the best position in Cavtat. It overlooks a truly beautiful bay and the hotel's own tree-shaded terrace is a lovely place to just sit and enjoy the scenery. There are a few bars and restaurants on this bay and a much bigger selection around the main marina. This is a pleasant 5 minute stroll from the hotel. This is the place for people watching and admiring the enormous private yachts that anchor here.

We took the boat trip to Dubrovnik and think it is the best way to approach the old town. We hired a car and enjoyed exploring further with trips into Montenegro (Kotor is a must!) and Bosnia. It was odd queuing at borders to get our passports stamped and we also acquired small change in several different currencies.

We stayed B&B and would recommend this option. The hotel buffet breakfast is very good but in the evenings it was nice to be free to sample Cavtat's many excellent restaurants.

My wife and I have just returned after spending a week at this hotel. The Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel is clean, our room was brilliant with a balcony and seaview. The selection and quality of food was excellent should suit anybodys requirements. The location is ideal for travelling to Dubrovnik and other places of interest. Journeys either by bus or boat travel are readily available, as well as being able to go on nice walks around Cavtat. We would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone wanting to experience the generosity of the Croation people.

Recently arrived back from a 10 night H/B stay in the 3* Hotel Cavtat. This is nothing like a 3* you would expect in Spain, Greece or Turkey, MUCH better.
Recently refurbished to a v good standard & decorated in white and blue it gave a bright and modern feel to the hotel & this was also carried through to the rooms, white walls , with accents of blue & Purple.
Our room was spacious , good size beds pushed together. Enough room in wardrobe & enough storage space in general. Also a dressing table area with padded chair plus a further occasional table with 2 padded chairs. Good size shower and plenty of hot water & ladies there is a hairdryer attatched to the wall. Free aircon was used all the time as was baking hot ( wasn't working 1st night , phew !!!!!, but fixed nxt day, Sunday, thank goodness! }
Sliding doors onto good size balcony with table & chairs , we were in room 210 - 2 floors above the kitchen area i think , which was on the end/side of hotel overlooking edge of tiha bay, you could see the main bay through the pines from the side edge.
As we arrived the receptionist was very helpful and efficient, the manager was also there and introduced himself, had a quick chat with us , then wished us a good stay :)
I gather in previous years the food has not been good here, well things must have been turned around greatly as the choice and quality is now very good. OK there were 1 or 2 little niggles , but overall I was amazed at the food, before on 3* we have had to dine out quite often & didn't feel the need at all here.
The hotel is mostly frequented by couples and groups of friends , it isn't really geared up for children, no bad thing for those wanting peace & quiet.
The staff here are in the main helpful and friendly, the only poor service we found was in the outside bar area , this could do with looking at as we were kept waiting 15 mins for a drink & 40 mins for a Ceasar salad.
In one brochure I read that the resort / hotel was not affected at all by air traffic, well that's wrong, the aircraft fly directly overhead, not that it bothered us much, Sunday seems to be the busiest day, the stunning beauty of this resort is well worth it.
Nowhere better to take in the amazing scenery than the roof-top terrace/pool area, cameras at the ready please ;) We were so fortunate that the pool had opened the previous day, result ! Though the pool area is great we chose to spend more time around the bathing platform as there was so much sea-life to investigate & the sea temp more forgiving than pool, although the former was more inviting toward end of stay.
Everywhere you turn in the resort is picture postcard lovely & there are some beautiful walks to be done around the headlands, one not really taxing app 45 mins and can be done in flip-flops , the other add app 30 mins and wear sensible footwear as there are some steep & rocky areas. Amongst other gorgeous views you can also see Dubrovnik ( & the Cruise Ships ) from certain areas in resort.
I can honestly say that I've never been anywhere so beautiful. The main area of resort is on Cavtat bay & attracts a few big charter yachts, there's a very swish upmarket feel here, with some lovely bars, shops & eateries. The Tiha Bay area where the hotel is situated has a very authentic & slightly more laid- back feel I think and in my humble opinion Hotel Cavtat has by far the best location.
Do take advantage of the local tour operators for your trips, we did, 50% less than your reps prices. We had a brilliant trip to Montenegro through Delphin Tours, we visited Kotor & Budva.
If you like your resorts picturesque, no thumping bass music, then Tiha bay Cavtat is the place to go, you won't be dissapointed . N.B. if you want lively , family orientated/ noisy try the large Iberostar hotels further down the road.

Room Tip: High room, sea view a must .

My friend and I stayed in this hotel and the beginning of June and we couldn't fault it. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful; the hotel was clean; our room was brilliant with a lovely view; and the location was perfect - a short walk to the town where you could catch a 'bus or ferry to Dubrovnik or the Islands or just take a stroll around Cavtat itself. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

My wife and I have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel with her mother and aunt. We do take a lot of time researching properties and their locations before booking and this does pay off. After taking the two ladies to Malcesine on Lake Garda last year, we wanted a similar experience in an equally superb location and we found it in Cavtat.
Unfortunately we could only get one full sea view room and one side sea view room - both however were very good. The sea view room on the third floor (307) was a little smaller than ours (319) but the view over TIha Bay was stunning.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are first class and are a credit to the hotel. It has clearly been updated recently, crisp white paintwork and furniture. The manager Ivo who appears always on call is developing this hotel (formerly Iberostar) into the best 3 star in and around Dubrovnik and his eye for detail is great. The rooftop swimming pool was opened during our stay and although small, due to weight restrictions on the roof, it is adequate for this size of hotel. It has an infinity edge with the feel that you are swimming into the bay. New decking and sun loungers/umbrellas complement the rooftop relaxation area.

Food at the hotel is very good, buffet style with excellent choice both at breakfast and dinner. Personally however if my wife and I had been on our own we would have booked B&B rather than HB so that we could have experienced the many restaurants around the Luka Bay, but HB was the correct choice considering the older ladies. One slight disappointment was the lack of tea and coffee. We know this is a regular moan of Brits abroad and although we can accept no tea/coffee facilities in the room it would have been good to be able finish your evening meal with a coffee in the restaurant.

Although there is a road between the front of the hotel and terrace and sea, this is not at all busy or noisy and doesn't detract from the excellent location. Cavtat is overall bigger than we expected. There are two bays seperated by a penninsula. Tiha the larger of the two is itself seperated into two by a small headland. To the North the bay has two BIG Iberostar hotels, to the South is the quieter part of Tiha which our hotel looked over - perfect!

Luka Bay is home to a handful of super yachts (charter for £130,000 per week if you can afford it) and the sea front promenade boasts a wide variety of places to eat or simply have a drink, plus a few shops and two lovely churches.

Dubrovnik is only a 45 minute boat rideaway, there are plenty of regular small boats that make the journey every 30 minutes from 9am to 6pm the return cost is 80 Khuna but between the hotel and the harbour is big Mike at Delfin Tours - he is great and we purchased our tickets from him for 60 Khuna, he offers great advice and lots of other excursions and is worth a look We didn't use the local bus into Dubrovnik and although these are cheaper at 20Khuna single and run every hour we wanted to experience the approach from the sea. BIG TIP- visit the many websites that advise as to the cruise ship itineries. We went on a quite day when there was only a small liner in (1500 passengers) there were days when two liners docked spilling 6000 snappers into the little walled town. Hell on earth I would have thought. You must experience the walk round the walls though, even at 90 Khuna its worth the experience and vistas.

All in all a wonderful holiday, made all the better by staying at the best hotel, with the best staff in the best location. Well done Ivo and your team and thank you for your hospitality.

Room Tip: Sea View obviously the best and if you can try to get floor 3.

Dear KeithM,

Your review is so beautiful to read! Thank you for taking the time to post such a long, detailed and very nice description about your recent stay with us in lovely Cavtat.

Your comments are very much apprecciated. We're very happy when all your expectations are fulfiled.
Our roof terrace looks really amazing now, with its decking and swimming pool overlooking the Tiha bay and Cavtat. We've just opened the bar there, and now you have an oportunity to drink coffee / tea, beer or even sopme cocktail and relax much more.

Regarding to coffee / tea in buffet restaurant during the dinner, by standards of 3 stars hotel we don't need to serve it. We are always trying to accept all suggestion of our guests which are always welcome, and we serve it on bar which is open until 24h even more.
Also, by standards of 3 star hotel, we don't need to provide room service, but we're always come on call to guest's room if they ask for it.

I want to thank you as well to promote our beautiful Cavtat, and parl of Adriatic Dubrovnik.
Your suggestion are very much helpful to everyone who is planning to visit our region.

Hopefuly, you'll stay with us in future!
In meantime me and my Team are sending you the warmest regards from Cavtat!
