We have just returned from a 12 night stay at the Hotel Cavtat in Cavtat (Sep 2013).The hotel was an excellent choice with a sea view room to die for, which was booked with Cosmos holidays.General cleanliness throughout the hotel and rooms was excellent, food was plentiful, well cooked with good choice. Staff were very polite, helpful and made our stay really enjoyable. The hotel overlooks a large bay and the walk to the main front of Cavtat takes a 10min leisurely walk past the bus station and taxi stops. We used the bus, taxi, boats and hire car to see quite a lot of this area of Croatia which is really beautiful. We liked Mlini a small village along the coast towards Dubrovnik, which can be reached best by a 15min boat ride from Cavtat. Dubrovnik of course is a must to see, if travelling by public bus be aware of the walk down from the stop to the old town which older people could find a problem, take the many boat trips from Cavtat (we used "Vivado" every trip) and you are landed in the old town harbour, right in the old town.Visit again at night (we used a hire car,but parking can be a problem) for a different perspective-lovely.We used our hire car to visit the southern area of Croatia with Molunat being the best place to take in the views and a coffee.Travelling past Dubrobnik north on the good road takes you to Ston with its famous 5.5Km wall which is well worh seeing and a good place to have lunch. If you want to travel further be prepared for an early start and late finish as all the trips take in the many places to visit but take in a lot of travelling. We took our hire car through the border to Montenegro (which uses the Euro as currency, so take some with you before going) which we found really beautiful. After visiting Herceg Novi for a coffee we proceeded towards Kotar, the trip is oustanding and follows the coast all around with outstanding views, stop and have lunch at any of the small villages before enterring Kotar. We then took the small car ferry trip across towards Herceg Novi which cuts the journey back to Croatia by a very long way.All together we really enjoyed our holiday and would recommend the area and the hotel to anybody and hopefully we will return

Room Tip: Sea View rooms are a must giving excellent views across the bay

The hotel cavtat was in an excellent spot overlooking the sea that's if your lucky enough! I have just returned from that hotel can't fault the staff but if your ever unlucky enough to get room 111 which happened to me my room was supposed to over look the garden but all I could see was green cupboards which I think housed the airconditioning or electrical equipment I did ask for an exchange but was told they had no other single room available but maybe able to move to a double room and pay €21 a day extra on top of what I had already paid

Room Tip: Make sure you ask to see the room before you move into it

Dear Patricia L,

thank you for taking the time to write your feedback about your recent stay with us.
We're so sorry that you didn't like your room. I check one more time with sales department and reception, but as we can see you've booked single garden view room.

All our single garden view rooms also have some part of view to Tiha bay.
Also, during the September we are all times fully booked, and sometimes we don't have option to move guests in same type of room they've booked, so only possibility is to move in double single use room for it price ( when they are in single garden view rooms as you were).

Sometimes, we can do our best to allocate you in your requested room, but sometimes that request it doesn't mean that you paid for it.

Usually, we are trying to please all our guests, and I hope that you've seen that we tried to do our best to fulfil your expectations too.

I truly hope that we have an oportunity to welcome you again in our hotel!

Sincerely yours,

Ivo Sutalo

We spent four nights here at the start of a longer holiday in Croatia - an excellent hotel in which to unwind and enjoy the attractions of Cavtat - and very convenient for Dubrovnik airport. We paid extra for a room (205) with a balcony and a view over the bay; it was well worth it. A clean, well-serviced, room; friendly low-key staff; quiet; a few minutes walk from the main harbour and the ice creams. Watch the sunset from the roof-top terrace. Breakfast was OK if somewhat predictable. We didn't eat other meals in the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea view and balcony are worth the supplement. Third floor probably better than the sec...

I can only agree with previous glowing reviews re location / views / staff / cleanliness & rooftop pool at the Hotel Cavtat and the charming town of Cavtat itself.

Despite lack of pool towels / fancy toiletries / robes / in room safe / minibar etc this hotel provided far more than just 3 star accommodation. Easy to use free safe deposit boxes are available at reception and a fridge may be hired for 5 euros per night. Free wi-fi is available in all internal areas of hotel.
The shower room is small but more than adequate and has a good shower, mirrors & lighting along with clean towels each day, what more do you need?

The independently run Lavanda Spa adjacent to pool is well worth a visit. A variety of professional treatments is available at a very reasonable charge & I can personally vouch for an excellent facial & massage.

The only gripe I have is that the room descriptions are not very clear. We had booked, paid extra for and were allocated a front seaview room. However this does not mean an uninterrupted seaview.
Rooms on top floor with best views are not on general release to UK tour operators. After a first disappointing night in room 406 we next day managed to upgrade to a full seaview Room 507 at an additional charge of 20 euros per night. This was a much bigger room with fridge & larger balcony, and most inportantly a fantastic view over the bay. I had e-mailed the hotel before arriving to clarify what view we would have but an upgrade was not mentioned. Had I known this beforehand we could have arranged the better view before arrival & prevented inconvenience for ourselves & hotel.

Overall a very enjoyable, relaxing, value for money stay which I would thoroughly recommend.

Dear Aporo,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to post review about your stay with us.
It is so kind of you to recommending to all our TripAdvisor's readers our fantastic spa center and its lovely massages.

Also, thank you for your beautiful comments about every aspect of our services.

I just need to mention that in our hotel all tour operator agencies as well individual guests are same. We don't make any difference between their bookings. It depends what someone prefer.
Also, we have lots of guests who like 1st floor (front bulding) and someone who prefer 4th or 5th floor.
We are always trying to allocate guests in rooms they booked to fulfil their expectations.

We hope that we'll have an oportunity to welcome you next season!

In meantime we're sending you the warmest regards from Cavtat,

Ivo Sutalo

We recently stayed in Cavtat and had the most wonderful holiday, we did not want to leave and are seriously thinking of moving to the area! Hotel Cavtat is nice, a three star hotel in a great location for your stay in Cavtat. We payed for the sea view upgrade and that was well worth the money. The pool is splendid with the most amazing views of the surrounding area. One of the highlights of our holiday was meeting 'big Mike' and his wonderful family. Mike runs a tour company on the right hand side as you walk from hotel Cavtat into the town. What a guy, he is a flowing fountain of knowledge about Cavtat, Croatia, Australia and everything else on the planet. His wife Marija is a lovely lady and they both go out of their way to help in any way they can.
We went on a couple of tours with Mike and they were really worth the money in luxury vehicles and with knowledgeable guides. Don't go anywhere else to book your tours whilst you are in Cavtat. Mike has led an amazing life and my husband and i absolutely love the guy. He is a sincere and caring person who became a new friend. Mike, if you read this send our love to Marija, your son and not forgetting lovely little Anna. Thank you Mike from

Hotel Cavtat is a lovely hotel with some of the best views a hotel could have of the bays and surrounding areas. I don't think ive stayed in a quieter hotel with no noise whatsoever from outside or inside the hotel. Staff are superb and so helpful and no problems at all with using the safes provided. Towels changed daily and bedding every otherday whch for 3 star I find incredible. Had a lovely bedroom but only downside was a very small bathroom but perfectly clean and spotless. Lovely breakfasts and food always hot. Possible worth a 4 star rating but for the size of the bathroom. Would most certainly stay again.
