The hotel is large with a lot of amenities and large rooms but all somewhat soul-less. It's lacking in charm for the most part though the lounge and some of the restaurants do have very nice views of the water and opposing city.
The person at the customer service desk was very pleasant and helpful with restaurant information but unfortunately the buffet at the Spinnaker restaurant was well below standard. The food was very bland, dry, land luke warm (in some cases even cold). The best selection at the buffet, believe it or not, was the baked beans but they only had a little left and when we inquired about replenishing the tray they told us they would not make anymore. It was a little on the late side, but others were seated after us, and we paid full price for what should have been a full buffet. When we advised someone who appeared to be a manager they shrugged and offered a free drink, which we declined. They should have taken something off the bill.
The worst part of the experience, was the next morning, when we were checking out very early for a flight. The front desk person would not accept a large bill as payment for the incidentals we had on the invoice and was condescending when I questioned him as to why such a large hotel could not make change for a cash payment. Then he said our driver, arranged by the hotel, had just left. When I asked why and when he was coming back he said our reservation was at the top of the hour so we were early and should wait. It was perhaps 10 minutes before so I was very concerned that the driver was not going to be back in time - and I was right. The manager disappeared and despite my calling out to him behind the desk, and using the phone over and over, he did not respond. I was getting frantic as we had no way to get to the airport, the front lobby was effectively, vacant, and we did not want to miss our flight home. Finally the driver showed up 10 to 15 minutes late but it was an unprofessional experience not to have someone at the front desk for all of that time. I suspect he was hiding as he messed up and sent the driver off by mistake.
I would not stay here again.
