We stayed two nights in this hotel, and while the staff were incredibly friendly I did feel that it was a little overpriced for what we got.....The room was clean but small, the bathroom was tiny and the toilet made quite a loud noise after you flushed it! I would expect more for a €105/night "superior" room.
Also they really could do with getting some decent coffee too!

This hotel was everything that 2 people wanting to get away from it all could have asked for. Far enough from the busy town centre for quiet sunsets on the balcony, but near enough for a slow stroll after breakfast to catch a bus or a boat to get further afield....or to watch the local fishing boats and chartered yachts coming and going from the harbourside.
All the staff at the hotel are very hospitable and nothing is too much trouble for them to ensure you have the sort of holiday you are looking for.
The de-luxe double room on the second floor has a view from its lengthy balcony to have you returning time and again just to take in the changing light on the mountains, trees and sea, and to admire the evening lights of Dubrovnik across the bay.
The furniture and decor is simple and cooling when you've been out in the heat all day. This room in particular is very spacious with a lounge and tv area and large entrance hallway leading to a well equipped bathroom.
This is certainly a hotel we would happily return to as a base for another Croatian holiday.

Had a very enjoyable stay here - staff were very friendly and helpful. Challenging hill climb twice a day presented no major problems - just a couple of small rest breaks on the way up were required for this 56 year old unfit body. Rooms small but bearable and breakfast pretty reasonable. I don't remember reading about the planes circling overhead before I booked, but they didn't really start up until 7.30 am and seemed to finish around 11.00 pm so earplugs weren't necessary. Only major problem we encountered was we had to park the car really close to the wall outside and as we backed out a very sharp broken tile slashed a great gash in the tyre and tyre had to be replaced before we could get on the road again. The receptionist did the same thing to her car the following day so maybe the hotel will think about getting this minor problem rectified.

hotel staff is very friendly. Free internet access. Located 20 minutes walk from downtown , high on the hill ( steep walk). No phone, chairs or table in the room. It is near the airport and airplane noise is very laud. however, it is quite at night.

We stayed in the hotel for a week and thought the staff and the hotel were lovely. My partner was ill when we were away and the manager was extreemely helpful as soon as he was aware we had an issue.

Its a small hotel with only 15 rooms meaning the staff and the other guests get to know you, with some interesting chats about croatia and life in country giving an insight I dont think you would get in a larger, more impersonal hotel.

Negatives ? The hotel is a steep walk from the beach, but this is croatia and its hilly so what can you expect?. Cavtat is a 10 minute transfer from the airport so maximising the time in the resort but you are under the flight path... though to be honest we barely noticed.

All in all highly recommended.

After reading all the excellent reviews of Villa Castelletto my partner and myself stayed there for seven nights in July having booked direct with the owners in September 2006. The property changed ownership earlier this year and now has Irish owners, the Villa is managed on their behalf by a lovely Croatian couple - Dayahn and his wife Christina - assisted by the staff who were employed by the previous owners, together they make a very professional team, all understand and speak excellent English.
We were met at the airport by Dayahn in the immaculate and brand new mini-bus and driven back to the Villa via a short guided tour around Cavtat. We had booked room 32 which is one of the most requested ones because of its views out to Dubrovnik and we were not disappointed, the furnishings and decoration were first class and the room - as they all do - had the benefit of air conditioning.
It has been noted in many previous reviews that the villa is up a hill, it takes maybe five minutes to get down to the harbour and 10 minutes stroll to get back, there is a very welcome wall in the shade of a house for a break, I suffer from an arthritic hip and made the journey down and back twice a day for the full week without resorting to the bus which stops 150yds from the villa and runs frequently until around 2330hrs, it costs 5kn (50p). The villa is situated amongst the local neighbourhood and is quite peaceful, there is some noise from aircraft but they are over that quickly that they did not trouble us, the airport alternate approaches and takeoffs so they do not use the same track all the time.
Breakfast was self-service with cereals, fruit, cold meats and a warm selection - always eggs maybe scrambled or boiled and various sausages - fruit juice and tea and coffee are also served, you may sit outside in the garden or by the small pool or if preferred inside.
We loved Cavtat - the first time we have stayed there - having visited previously on day trips from Dubrovnik, it is nice and quiet and also very clean and there is the chance to see the daily changing millionaires yachts which moor right up to the harbour wall - how the other half live!!! We spend a couple of days on sunbeds over at the Hotel Croatia as you were able to get shade from the overhanging pines should you wish, the beds were also equipped with a mattress which made for more comfort - 50kn (£5) a day for two beds and a parasol.
We found some nice restaurants for the evening meals - we went to the 'Ivan' three times nice food and good value - this is in the 'quieter' bay, find the bus station and stand with your back to the bus and it is directly in front of you right on the harbour wall, the popular 'Dalmajia' restaurant immediately on your left as you get to the bottom of the steps after walking down is always busy but we thought a little disappointing, we went to 'Taverna Gallija' at the far end of the promenade next to the old church (St Nikolas) on two occasions and found this to be excellent it looks very pricey with the pianist and fancy candles - but was not and the food is cooked in the open air on a giant barbecue, it was always very busy so best to book.
All in all a very pleasant holiday - the temperature was around 90deg for most of the week - we will return to Cavtat and to Villa Castelletto.
