This was our 3rd visit to Cavtat and our first stay at The Supetar. We had walked past the Supetar on previous visits’ and read TA reviews but didn’t really know what to expect from the hotel. However, as soon as we walked through the door we were charmed by the place and immediately felt at home in the comfortable, relaxed surroundings .
The staff were welcoming, very friendly and helpful. Our room was small yet perfectly adequate for our needs and was spotlessly clean. As mentioned in other reviews it could maybe do with a little updating, for example the carpet could do with either replacing or a thorough steam clean (not dirty so much as tired) and the addition of a hairdryer would be welcome. The beds however (2 singles pushed together, typical of the area) were firm but comfy and the air conditioning worked a treat. The bathroom again was compact, but surprisingly modern in its finish, with a powerful shower and clean towels every day.
As we had stayed in the area previously we knew there were plenty of places to eat so we only stayed B&B. Breakfast had slightly limited choices but there was coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, fruit, cereal, yummy bread and rolls. Pancakes, bacon and scrambled, boiled or fried eggs were also on offer. We really enjoyed our breakfast every morning and the cheery waiters worked incredibly hard. It was lovely to sit outside on the terrace watching Cavtat wake up while eating.
We should also mention the lovely garden – a sun trap in the afternoon and a lovely quiet hide away to sit in the evening with a glass of wine.
Conveniently Cavtat is about 15 minutes away from the airport – so you do hear aircraft noise during the day and can spot people with cameras trying to get the perfect “airplane flying over” shot. However, the Supetar is the quietest hotel you could hope for. We didn’t hear any noise at all, either from inside or outside during the night.
So, summing up, this is a small and friendly hotel, in an ideal location with brilliant staff offering a great base for your time in Cavtat. We will return, hopefully very soon.

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms are in full sun all day, Shutters and A/C work well but the sun is HOT in Cavtat

We were traveling in Croatia and received an email three days prior to our scheduled check-in. They informed us that there was a problem with the room reserved and were rebooking us in an adjoining apartment. They gave us a huge apartment with another property owner and dropped our rate 50%. The communication was excellent and issue resolved nicely. Thanks.

Let's start at the beginning - the location is superb and the building older and interesting. It's a small friendly hotel where the staff are welcoming, friendly, helpful and informative. The rooms have no balconies and are slightly dated and small but hey, I didn't travel to Cavtat to stay in the room and everything was enough for our needs. Easier access to some washing and drying facilities for the beach stuff or occasional shirt might help.
If you are expecting 5 star then you should have paid 5 star and you will be disappointed .. you can use the more luxurious facilities of the sister hotel up the hill across the bay if you are feeling undervalued but it isn't necessary and a lot depends on the type of person you are .. we spent a couple of lovely evenings on the terrace bar listening to excellent live music and we were never made to feel like inferior guests. The Supetar itself has been improved by the addition of a beautiful little garden with lime trees, a few sunbeds, tables, TORTOISES and the occasional humming bird .. the garden can be a real peaceful haven for reading or chilling with a beer or coffee from the hotel bar which stays open until 10.00pm. My impression from the hotel and speaking to other guests is that the manager has kept to his promise of listening to guests and implementing a gradual list of minor improvements over the last few years and I for one think it is paying dividends.
Eating breakfast and/or dinner on the open terrace is a delight and the waiters are friendly and helpful. The view from the terrace is also impressive. Up above this terrace on the second floor is a sun terrace for the suntanners with sunbeds and cushions and staff will check on your needs quite regularly ( Thank you Rea!)
Now the tricky part ... I had read previous reviews of the food and was expecting a disaster but to honest was pleasantly surprised .. the breakfast was all that could be expected and the amount available would really set you up for the day.
At Dinner the salads and puddings were impressive for the money paid and the main courses were varied and plentiful if sometimes just a little disappointing. Having said that I never went hungry and out of 14 nights only once felt that the maincourse choice was a let down. It isn't Michelin star food but then you aren't paying Michelin star prices so approach the food with an open mind. Perhaps the best choice is to go for Bed and Breakfast due to the impressive range of restaurants available in Cavtat. I still applaud the cook/chef and if like us you want the hassle of food taken care of so you can concentrate on trips and other things then the Supetar is just fine. Breakfast is from 7 - 10 am but there was even some food available when we had to rise very early to travel up to Bosnia .. so if they are that helpful we should perhaps compromise a little?
My suggestions for improvements would be 1) better towels and 2) perhaps some anti mosquito candles and tealights for the garden tables when guests are having an after dinner coffee or beer?
In summary I could find numerous tiny faults but for the price the Supetar was fine and we enjoyed our stay very much and we have happy memories.

This is a great little hotel.

We had a superior seaview room (204) with a wonderful view across the harbour and the bonus of a side window. The room was on the small side but once you had got your suitcases out of the way it was more than sufficient for the two of us. We stayed three nights on a bed and beakfast basis but could easily have managed more. On arrival we found that the toilet seat was broken. We reported this to reception and within no time the problem was rectified. This was an example of the efficient manner in which all of the staff go about their jobs.

The hotel is part of a chain that includes The Hotel Croatia. We actually left our hire car there for collection and was brought down by car (free of charge) to the Supetar. It was a smooth and efficient process with no hassle at all. The Hotel Croatia is enormous and the lobby area has a feeling of a half empty airport terminal. Whilst it may suit some people, it is not our cup of tea and prefer the comfort of the one across the bay. We did avail ourselves of the benefit of using their facilites on two occasions when we used their sunbeds for a couple of hours. Nice to know that you can do this from time to time.

The Supetar is in an excellent position wth tremendous views and the added bonus of being 'on the flat' - try walking up the hills to some of the hotels in Cavtat in 35 plus degrees heat. We experienced no noise at all from inside or outside the hotel. Oh, one exception was encountering the hideous Elvis impersonator plying his trade along the harbour - grossly out of tune and certainly out of place in ths lovely Croatian beauty spot,

Despite this we will come back to Cavtat and will stay in The Supetar again - no reason not to !!

PS. Tackle the walk up to the cemetry for sunset, it is magnificent

We booked this hotel after reading the reviews and are glad that we did, it was perfect for what we wanted.
Rather than repeat what everyone else has said or run through a day by day account, I thought I'd write the good and the bad and also our top tips, as I think that is more useful for people to make a decision as whether to visit or not, as that is what I find helpful for me.

The good things:- Location & Staff!
The location couldnt have been better. At the end of the beautiful harbour just along from all the restaurants and bars, but not too noisy so that you cant sleep! You get to walk passed all the millionaire yachts too, which always makes for an interesting evening.

Likewise, if you turn right out of the hotel and follow the coastline, you can get some good swimming off the rocks and a small beach. The sunset looks lovely from here at the end of the day. Its a nice stroll all the way around the penisular and brings you back around to the other side of the town.

Staff, again Tea is a lovely lady and very bubbly as are the two waiter gentlemen, who always said hello with a smile. The cleaner kept the rooms and public areas spotless and despite a slight smell of drains in our room, it was always kept very clean everywhere.

We liked the authenticity of this hotel and the fact that it blends in to the rest of the houses. The terrace where you eat is also lovely at any time of day too.

Although we booked as Half Board, we only had breakfast in the hotel as part of our holiday experience is to sample all the local restaurants for lunch & dinner. The breakfast was fine, albeit a bit repetitive, but there is only so much difference you can do with eggs, bacon, cold meats, cereals, pancakes, etc! The choice of breads was nice and the drinking yoghurt was delicious.

The not so good things:
We didnt have anything really bad, but it would have been nice to have had a small fridge in the room, so we could have kept some water cold as it was boiling outside.

Also, if having large, soft towels is important to you, bring your own as these were quite small and rough, but there were plenty of them and they were changed regularly, especially the bath mat, which was good.

Top tips:
Bring good sandals/beach shoes for climbing on the rocks and getting into & out of the sea.
Bring a foam roll mat to use to sit on the beach/rocks, as they can be painful and bring on a numb bum!
Use the facilities of the Hotel Croatia for the pools (both sea water) and also go down to the back of the hotel and use the 'concrete' beach bits and swim in the sea from there. the view is lovely and the sea is nice and clear & deep.
Hire a small boat for the day and explore the coast.
Do a day trip to Dubrovnik but try and choose a day that there are no or only one cruise ship in (check out online before you go) and also try and get there early, as it gets busier & hotter. Takes about an hour walking the city walls and there are lots of steps, so may not be great for the less mobile. Would recomend the audio tour if you want to know more of the history although it can go on a bit after a while!

That's it! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Supetar and in Cavtat overall and would definitely recommend them both for a relaxing, friendly, "non-Brits" abroad place.

Really enjoyed our one week stay at the Supetar hotel. As other reviewers have said great location with restaurants and bars nearby. Lots of millionaire yachts to see in the harbour of Cavtat. Hotel is as advertised small and friendly. Our room was basic but spotlessly clean with efficient air conditioning. All staff very friendly and helpful. Waiters were helpful with a nice sense of humour. Unlike a couple of previous reviewers I was impressed with the public areas. Definitely not shabby as described by one review. The restaurant terrace is an excellent place for breakfast and evening meals. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. If you expect gourmet food in a three stay hotel it is your expectations that are wrong not the food. Unlike rhnb I chose to stay up and listen to the band.(Thought what is the point if I will not sleep) They were fantastic. Apparently TBF one of Crotia's top bands. Dubrovnik is within easy reach and having seen the mass tourists from cruise liners I would say staying in Cavtat and visiting Dubrovnik is ideal way to see this fantastic city. If you are reading this wondering whether to book Supetar my advice is definitely yes!

Room Tip: In my view do not worry about a sea view room.

This was our second stay in this hotel. It's in a great location right on the harbour, with more restaurants, bars close by than you can shake a stick at.
Part of its charm is that it isn't trying to be something it's not. It's a basic hotel, but being small it just seems so much more 'homely'.
Lovely views off the restaurant terrace. We only had breakfast there, which we found fine (love the antique temperamental toaster. Don't ever get rid of it ;-) The garden area is a nice quiet place to chill out with a drink.
The only downside this time was a band playing right outside the hotel one night (until about 2am!). Suppose we should have gone down and joined in, but rap isn't my thing. Can't blame the hotel for this really, I guess it's outside their control. Not sure how often this happens. Maybe we were just unlucky.

Finally, we found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

Dear guests,
Thank you for this lovely comments and we are very glad that you liked and that you enjoyed in our terace and our garden. "Homely" is one of nicest compliment that this hotel ever got and we thank you very much for that!!
We are very sorry for the concert but like you sead it is out of our control but I must say that it was for a good cause. All the money collected from the concert was donated to the local people who were seriously injured in car accidents. Only twice a year we have a concert in front of the hotel, but local authorities are making one square away from the hotel, so we should have no more concerts in front of the hotel. Once again thank you for everything and see you again soon in our "homely" hotel Supetar.
