This is a nice apartment set in beautiful gardens...but there were things lacking that were stated in the apartment description namely, no microwave or freezer. The fridge did not have a freezer section. More importantly there were no smoke alarms fitted. My wife and I are in our mid seventies and found the location difficult. There are other revues describing the hilly location. We should have read the revues more carefully. The description also mentions a washing machine, this is a dishwasher, not a washing machine. The owners were very helpful. The access was not what we expected but we had a lovely week in great place.

A big improvement on the apartment we stayed at in Kotor in Montenegro, and significantly cheaper by quite some margin. Reasonably spacious and well equipped, with a great sitting out area and garden. Clean and tidy with a high standard of fittings and fixtures. Most things in our ground floor apartment seemed quite new. The owners were very friendly and helpful and even did some laundry for us.
The apartment is situated right at the top of old Cavtat town, so it’s quite an up-hill walk with many steps every time you return. But it means it’s in a quiet location for Cavtat.
Communication throughout the booking and with our planned arrival time was excellent.
There were quite a few tortoises roaming around in the garden - they love lettuce!!!
We arrived by hire car and were met promptly by Michael as agreed at the car park. He provided us with a parking token for the duration of our stay. He also helped us with our bags, both up to the apartment when we arrived, and down to the car when we departed.
Bear in mind that the Cavtat old town is right on the landing and take-off flight path for Dubrovnik airport. But there were no night flights while we were there in late June, with the first landings flying over around 0800 and the last ones around 2230.
A few tips.
1. The water taxis from the harbour to Dubrovnik are worth using and saves trying to park once you get there. Try and check out which one goes direct, otherwise you will have up to 5 additional stops and a longer trip.
2. Check out the Dubrovnik cruise ship timetable, (see Trip Advisor Cavtata Forum) and try and pick a day for your visit when there are none due. Many restaurants in Dubrovnik dislike the cruise ship hoards, as they roam around, spend very little, and return to their floating hulks for meals.
3. There is a small fresh fruit and veg market on Cavtat harbour. There is also a fresh fish stall which will gut and prepare your fish ready for cooking. Sardines, sea bream, sea bass, mackerel and fresh peeled prawns. We bought from there and did a couple of evening fish meals in the apartment. Far better and a quarter of the price of anything we had in any restaurant.
4. The classical guitar concert in the monastery cloister is worth attending.
A wonderful spotlessly clean holiday apartment, fully equipped with everything you could want, a huge comfy bed, powerful shower, air conditioning and a spacious patio. In a lovely quiet location but less than five minutes walk to the harbour. Micheal, the owner, lives upstairs and is really helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Michael also arranged taxis to collect us and take us back to the airport. Cavtat is beautiful and we'll definitely be back! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone.
Delightful apartment in a good location with a lovely terrace & garden. Both the bed & sofa bed were very comfortable. Great shower & plenty of hot water readily available. Couldn't get the air con to work - maybe we were doing something wrong ?but it would have been nice to put this on for an hour or so in the bedroom late on. Even in May, I had a couple of uncomfortably hot nights trying to sleep, so wouldn't like to cope in high season. Michael greeted us with delicious home made Limoncello. Whilst the apartment is very well located, it would be difficult to find on your own, however Michael kindly met us at the bus station, so not a problem after that. Be aware that there are still quite a few steps from the town but nowhere near as bad as the access to some accommodations - Cavtat is very hilly ! Really nice spacious apartment with lovely hosts Michael & Mira - had a most enjoyable stay & particularly enjoyed watching a resident squirrel in one of the trees in the garden.
We had a super 6 days in Cavtat. The apartment was perfect for our needs, very close to the centre, but also secluded and quiet. It was very clean and comfortable, with an outside area where we could sunbathe and eat. The owners were friendly and helpful. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend, and to return in the future.
Our 2 weeks stay at Mija's place from start to finish was fantastic. We absolutely loved Cavtat, also in large part to the friendly and helpful hosts. Mija and her parents were extremely attentive to us and the apartment is perfect. The garden is also a very nice value for the location. Everything was perfectly convenient. Central Cavtat and areas to swim are only a few minutes walk. We would definitely stay here again and we highly recommend this place.
Thank you so much to super Hosts!
