The property is up 35 stone steps which were unlit until the top (this might have been fixed since we were there). It seemed as if the owners had just walked out, it was rather strange to find a wardrobe full of men's clothes, but there was plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. There was a cupboard full of food in the kitchen, we weren't sure if this was for our use. This didn't cause a problem at all. Having said that the apartment was well equipped with a large fridge and freezer, ample crockery and cutlery. The beds were very comfortable with good linen. Along with. two good bathrooms. The dining and sitting areas were fine. There is a large balcony with easy chairs and table, the views are great over the sea and to Dubrovnik. It is about a 5 minute walk to a small supermarket with a bakery. It's about a 15-20 minute walk down a steep hill to Cavtat centre. We always returned by taxi (50 Kuna-about £5)!! The boat to Dubrovnik is 100 Kuna each way and well worth it, though I did get soaked on one trip (try to sit in the centre of the boat). I can recommend Lux Tours, quite expensive, but personal and very good. There are many booths on the harbour side that offer group trips near (island trips are a must) and far (Mostar 4 hours each way). There are many good restaurants on the harbour side. The fish dishes are excellent. For something different ask Duro (the driver who collected us from the airport and often acted as our taxi driver and is connected to the letting agency) to arrange a meal in the hills with "cooking under the bell", we went to an ex railway station and it was a wonderful evening and very reasonable.. Our group of four ,two couples all retired, loved Cavtat and hope to return soon.
