Luka's Lodge has a lot of things going for it. For one, it's located in paradise, a short walk from some of the most unique and fun bars/nightlife I've ever seen in my life. They have laundry service and scooter rentals (both are cheap), frequent (3x a week on average) barbecues cooked by Luka himself, as well as a guy that is essentially dedicated to taking you and the other guests out each night, along with cleaning gross fish while nursing a raging hangover (cheers Geoff!). The private rooms are well-worth the small additional price because they have a balcony that opens up to a view of the town as well as great private bathrooms. Running this large wobbly ship is the wonderfully talented linguist Maria, who was somewhat hard for us to woo initially but I think our old-fashioned American charm won her over in the end (when we weren't busy waking her up).
Luka's Lodge is more than a hostel, its a home-away-from-home, located in one of the most scenic and unique places in the world. When you stay at Luka's you don't feel like a guest, you feel like family. Big thanks to the entire staff for putting up with us and showing us a great time.
Sorry for taking awhile to write this review (and we didn't book through hostelworld so couldn't put one on there), hope everything is well, can't wait to come back! -Zach and Jonathan (AKA The Texas Tripod, the Diplomats, the Toner Technicians, Two of the Very Few Non-[--] People and/or Things From America, etc)
