It is a great dinner place in Hvar, with amazing service, wine selection and great menu. We had ordered a Gregada, the fisherman platter, croatian dish made with white fish and potatoes. Ahhhh....amazing ! We can't say anything negative about this restaraunt, not sure what other reviewers might nsee or find to write. Everything was amazing ! Highly recomended in Hvar !
Also try Gariful and Divino - great quality of food !

We went to Giaxa expecting a good meal, because of a lot of positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Eating here was simply a mistake. It took them 40 minutes to make and bring us the starter, gnocchi with prosciutto and asparagus sauce. And it tasted absolute nothing! The mains we chose were chicken and lamb rack, which it took the restaurant 75 minutes to serve! That is simply too long. The lamb was absolutely OK, but the chicken - again - tasted noting (except salt). It did not come with any vegetables or anything with flavors either and is definitely the least tasty meal we have had on our trip.

This restaurant seems totally overrated and I would not recommend anyone going here. The night before we went to Park Restaurant and enjoyed a wonderful, tasty meal in beautiful surroundings. You should go there too!

Had dinner here, was seated indoors as it was full outdoors. We were attended by a very friendly waiter who was helpful with recommendations and even let us know to not over order when we ordered the local fish stew which was quite a big portion. He had a ready smile and made our dinner experience a great one.

We had a local red wine which was very nice. They have very good table servivce here, wine was presented proffesionally, food presentation was attractive, warm bread was served…

Overall, worth a visit...

Great place and one of the few places in Hvar where you can get gregada in single portions. Was one of our more expensive meals on Hvar, buy definitely the best. If you have fresh fish they'll bring all they have out on a tray of ice so you can choose the very fish you want. House white wine was local and very nice (dry). For dessert, have the chocolate sphere!

For our 3rd and last dinner in Hvar, we were lucky enough to pick Giaxa. After the big disappointment of Divino the previous night, we were really looking forward to a lovely dinner- and Giaxa didn't disappoint. Charming table in the stone alleyway with flower boxes lining the archway, good service, tasty amuse bouche of gazpacho and a vegetable tartlette, followed by beef carpaccio just the way I like it, and plump, yummy oysters. My husband chose the traditional Hvartia Gregada- a hearty fish stew with while wine broth, onions and potatoes, while I went for the Dalmatian Brodeto- a tomato-based fish stew with octopus, shellfish and polenta cakes. Soooo tasty and different from soup de poisson or other fish stews we've had elsewhere. For dessert we chose the madeleines with mascarpone and lemon coulis- light and refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. We highly recommend this place, dinner for 2 with 2 glasses of prosecco, 2 glasses of wine, grappa and coffees ran just under $200- far superior meal in every way to the pricier Divino.
