We ate here whilst on our holiday in Hvar having seen good reviews on Tripadvisor. We hadn't booked a table, but we were quite early so they managed to seat us quite quickly. The view and ambience on the terrace was fantastic and very romantic over looking the water. The service was good and we were quickly offered drinks and menus. We both had salads to start followed by steak for our main course, both of which were presented very nicely and were very tasty. This was definitely one of the better meals we had in Hvar.

Whilst the setting promised a lot and the food sounded good it all went pear shaped when I was struck down with a severe case of food poisoning half way through the main course. Can only blame the octopus entree which wasn't ordered but was presented as a small starter which is often the case. We were surprised to be charged for the starter we didnt order!
More disturbing was the illness that followed. Can't recommend this restaurant given the terrible outcome. Beware!

This restaurant is placed on a perfect place by the sea, has the amazing view and terrace. We kept it to be our good bye Hvar dinner, as it seamed so nice and fancy.

Unfortunately, Divino turned out to be the worst place we have eaten during our 7 day stay in Hvar. Choice of food-very poor, quality od food-even worse, service-the worst. The waiters kept forgetting our order and they were so terribly annoying.
The wine selection is good, and the prices are high for what you get.
All the other restaurants by the sea are much better choice!

No reason for coming back!

We read many positive reviews about Divino, and one of our concierges recommended it, so we were looking forward to a really special meal. First sign of trouble- when we arrived for our reservation (we'd been told seatings were at 8 or 10pm) the hostess said everyone came at the same time, so it was going to take a long time to be served. Yep, that's what happens when you don't stagger reservations. We offered to come back closer to 9, which seemed to relieve her. Now the restaurant itself is lovely, with great views right on the water- but on Hvar this isn't unusual so not a good enough reason to eat here. Since some of the reviews warned against the mystery tasting menu, we ordered a la carte. The biggest issue with this restaurant: rather than serving delicious, simply prepared Mediterranean food like Leporini or Giaxa, Divino tries- and fails- to do haute cuisine. We live in New York City where many restaurants do this well, but the chef here just isn't up to snuff. Appetizers: my husband's beef tartare was mostly gristle so he left it uneaten- no comment from the waiter. My duck breast with gnocchi was flavorless- at least it was quite a small portion so there wasn't a lot to slog through. Based on Trip Advisor reviews, I ordered the lobster pasta. The waiter came back to advise they were out of fettuccine and offered squid ink, which I declined since I worried it would overpower the lobster. Somehow they managed to find the correct pasta, and it would have been delicious except it was barely lukewarm and seems to have been sitting out for awhile before serving, so it was a bit congealed. Mike's tuna was good if a bit over salted, but the wine he ordered never arrived even after we reminded a passing waiter (ours disappeared once the first course was cleared). We were joking that we should just go grab a slice of pizza, but it's not so amusing given that this is one of the priciest restaurants on the island. We overheard another waiter tell a guest that they couldn't cook her tuna all the way through (she didn't want the rare preparation the chef recommended), and her husband amusingly said, "Sure you can, just let it cook a bit longer." Point being, it wasn't just our waiter having an off night, service seems to be an issue. We shared out concerns with another concierge at our hotel, and she mentioned this didn't surprise her. If you want a special, delicious meal, there are far better options than Divino.

Visited last week with my daughter. We each had the five course tasting menu, each course was explained in detail by our waiters and was amazing. Perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The setting overlooking the harbour was also great. I'm a nurse so I don't earn mega amounts, but think my total bill, which included a bottle of excellent wine and two glasses of Prosecco, of £120 was not overly expensive for such a perfect evening.
