“Great Location”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

The location is amazing! About a 2 min stumble home from the main square where all the restaurants are.In the other direction you have a 2 min stumble from all the outdoor bars. Also Carpe Diem is another 5 min walk. The beaches are a bit further - but I'd rather be close to the nightlife- especially in Hvar.
Okay- the actual hotel. Well, no A/C- which is fine when you have an ocean breeze- but we did not. The window was too high up. They were nice enough to provide us with a fan, but, it just blew around hot air. The showers are TINY TINY. For 2 people, the room was extremely small.
Also wi-fi is only available in the lobby. The breakfast buffet is GREAT! and the view from the veranda is amazing! The pool- tiny, not glamorous at all.
Staff- super super friendly.

Room Tip: Ocean view!

The hotel is in a great location, right on the harbour and close to bars and restaurants. From the outside the hotel looks impressive and the reception area is great. Staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms are a decent size and the view from the window was good, however there was no air-con and the bathroom was pretty poor and dated. The hotel has a small pool which we didn't use as the beaches are so close. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the harbour and was a buffet with a wide selection of hot and cold food.

Our room was large and clean and the view from the open windows was beautiful. i enjoyed just standing there looking out at the harbor and the boats. The staff was great, getting our bags from the catamaran ferry to our rooms. Breakfast was extensive and the outdoor patio under the umbrellas was great. Nice to explore the island and then return to the hotel at the very center of activities.

Entering upon the hotel its aesthetic is Beautiful! It resembles a palace with its stunning architecture right in the heart of Hvar. Very close to restaurants, bars, clubs, lounges and the beach. The only downfall is when you actually get inside the hotel and walk into your room, it did not resemble the pictures from booking.com. It is very outdated; you actually need a key to enter the room and leave it at the front desk, the bathroom was extremely small, and there would be no space to leave a suitcase anywhere. My room window faced a restaurant and it did get loud at some points in the evening. There was no air conditioning, just a fan above the bed. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The staff at the front desk were very accommodating and provided a pleasant atmosphere

As most of the other reviews have said, the rooms here are really dated and tired. It's a real shame, as if the hotel was done up, it would be first class - it's location is perfect - right on the marina in hvar town (1 minute's walk from the bus stop also) and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms though, do look a little bit like a halls of residence - there's nothing overly wrong with them - they are big enough, although there is no safe and the wifi didn't work in our fourth floor room (excellent view of the harbour though) - they are just quite dull and cheap looking. The breakfast was good - a decent selection, albeit a bit of a free-for-all in seating yourself - the pool is small and only catches the sun for part of the day. All in all, as long as you aren't hoping for a spectacular room, this is a decent choice and decent value for money in quite an expensive part of the world...

Room Tip: High up rooms on the harbour side of the hotel have a good view. Didn't notice it myself but the...

The staff at this hotel are fabulous. So friendly. Friendly staff don't seem to exist in Croatia.
Quite happy with the dated room and bathroom as it was spotless. No wireless in the rooms is a pain.
Breakfast is good and what a wonderful place to sit outside and have breakfast.
Location could not be better.
No air conditioning is a problem as you have to keep the windows open and then it is noisy.
Worst problem is the constant banging doors all through the night. They need to address this issue. Not difficult to do.
Otherwise I would recommend it.

Hotel Palace Hvar is located in the heart of Hvar's old town, right next to the harbour.
Advertised as charming this oldest hotel in Hvar is in a desperate need of redecoration and a new lift (the current one looks like it's from the 50s).

The room we were given had a sea view, it was specious, bright and had a large, comfy bed. The decor was very simple and VERY dated. The bathroom was functional, had a shower with good pressure, but (again) it needed refurbishing.

The free wi-fi works only in the reception area and on the first floor (but not on the terrace where the breakfast is served).

There is no air-conditioning (noisy old fan doesn't count)

Breakfast was rather avarage, poor selection of food served on a terrace full of wasps an pigeons (that tuck into your food the moment you get up from the table).
One morning I decided to take two plums from the fruit platter and both were crawling with maggots. Fishing for a clean plate every day was rather off-putting too.

On the 3rd day of our stay our bedroom came under the attack of ants and right after that the bathroom got flooded by water from a broken pipe. This was dealt with quickly and efficiently and we were promptly given a new room.

Overall the hotel is not the greatest value for money. It's OK; nothing less, nothing more.
