“Pretty Perfect Little Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2013

We spent 3 days at the Villa Nora while island-hopping down the Dalmatian coast and couldn't recommend it highly enough. We got a very comfortable and spacious suite on the third floor which had a couple of bedrooms with a couple of bathrooms and a small lounge in between; fantastic value for a very reasonable price. The staff are exceptionally friendly and the breakfast (served in an airy outdoor courtyard) was genuinely one of the best that we've ever had anywhere, consisting of several different dishes, lots of choice and each morning there was some additional special treat from the kitchen which is a lovely touch. The hotel is in a perfect location, just a few minutes walk into the harbor-side center of town, meaning that it's close by to all the local shops and restaurants, plus there are a couple of small shingle beaches nearby where you can take a dip. A couple of posters have noted that it's a bit hard to find in the maze of old-town backstreets and we did ourselves get a bit lost on the first day but once you know where you're going then it's actually pretty easy; just take the first left as you enter the square walking away from the waterside, then the first right and it's about 20m along that street on your left, beside and above the restaurant Lucullus (which is also very highly recommended). We noticed that a lot of the visitors to Hvar town tend to stay further out around the bay in one of a few terribly character-less resort hotels which seems an awful shame - the Villa Nora should be your first choice!

Room Tip: some rooms have more space than others and some have better light so ask for whatever you want most...

The room was very nice, and the location is excellent (see more below), but I have to start this review with the service. I have rarely been in a hotel, especially one in a tourist-y, resort-y place like Hvar, that has had such good service. Everyone was so very friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. They gave us restaurant recommendations, suggested the best places to lay by the water based on our preferences, and overall helped us with everything we needed. Even when we were just killing some time in the lobby, using the WiFi while waiting for a ferry, the woman at the reception seemed very interested in just talking with us about our travels, learning about our background, etc. They even gave us small gifts when we left (lavendar sachets, etc). Would definitely return!

Now, basics about the room/hotel. The room was quite large, with a big double patio that looked out over the street/breakfast area. We did have WiFi in the room, but it was a bit unreliable (we stepped into the hallway to make calls via Skype). The bathroom had good amenities, and the location is awesome (only ~5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal). Great option if you're looking for a mid-range hotel in Hvar!

Iva greeted us with a friendly, exuberant smile and attitude. Natalie fed us gourmet natural jams, fruits and breads. Every aspect was great. The room big and relaxing with a nice balcony. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.

Location is very nice - in the middle of the old town. Our junior suite was spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom and a small balkony. Breakfast was wonderful and served by the extremely helpful and friendly staff. Would love to visit Hvar again, stay at Villa Nora and visit the attached restaurant Lucullus.

Situated in the middle of the Old Town, this was a very nice place to stay! Our room was clean and a good size. We were worried that it might be noisy but we were pleased to say that it was quiet and we slept well each night we were there! Breakfast was in Restaurant Lucullus which is attached to the hotel. Breakfast was served at table and was really lovely every day we were there! The staff at the hotel were so helpful. The reception staff were so friendly and helped us to organise an off road trip around island!

Loved being right in the heart in town. Junior suite was large and comfortable with very large bathroom. Breakfast was wonderful with different small plate each day eaten in a nice courtyard. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. My only complaint is that there is no view of the water. Still, would stay there again.

Villa Nora is an old14th century palace, however accomodation is fabulous for the modern day traveller. Rooms are spacious & comfortable. Staff are very friendly and happily cater for guests. A great place to stay in the old town of Hvar
