Laguna Istra Hotel
Ranked #24 of 33 Hotels in Porec
Reviewed 19 August 2014

we stayed here in august 2014 arriving late in the evening at around 10 pm , there is a motion sensor escalator on the right hand side of the steps to help you up from the front of the hotel to reception and also one on the right hand side of the steps in the reception area up to the bar area to avoid most of the stairs.
we had two rooms one was a suite and the other was an ordinary room ,d26, advertised as sea view but only had a tree view maybe 3rd floor would have given sea view, the suite was large enough apart from the by now well known small toilet/shower room, there was plenty of room to hang all our clothes with wardrobe space in bedroom and living area, we found the bed was large and comfortable and the balcony gave a view over the countryside, we were not bothered about a sea view as we were not spending much time in the room. the rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels and the beds made up.
we were half board and we found the food at breakfast and the evening meal to be quite varied and plentiful and there were always enough free tables and the free drinks at meal times were a good touch as at other hotels we have paid for drinks with our dinner, also the sandwich and cake at lunchtime was nice.
the hotel pool while not the biggest was never really too full and no matter what time you arrived there were always spare sunbeds and plenty of parasols which sometimes would blow away if the was a gust of wind but this did not happen to often.
the hotel was only a few minutes walk away from the main tourist area with plenty of bars and restaurants but could be tiring to walk back up to for someone elderly or infirm.
the hotel staff we found to be pleasant and helpful though the older ones did not speak as much English as the younger ones, though I don't think there are that many English speaking tourists in this area, I certainly didn't hear too many.
in conclusion I have to say our family enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to other people, to those that are looking at poor reviews remember that this is a 3 star hotel so you are not going to get everything that 4 and 5 star hotels offer, we found it to be good value and had a relaxing time and we noticed the staff here worked very long hours with hardly any days off but were still courteous, and a thank you to Debora on reception who was very helpful.

Room Tip: be careful of d wing I think most of the 20 numbers look onto trees not sea

We stayed in this hotel in august 2012. When we first arrived we were pleasently supriesed of this hotel appearance. And evethough we arrieved late at night the receptionist were really nice. He helped us where to go and we got our lunch also in little room :) Eventhough we get lost little bit because there is 2 sides, therefore we went down and started once again to search our room. Nearby was car rental, tourist information, bank and little market. There was also national fish fair at the hotel and food and all that was very fancy. Overall we booked room with seaside view and when went to balcony we slightly saw the see, but it was ok for us. Because the Park seemed nice.

As stated in other reviews this hotel is dated and the bathroom is tiny, but kept immaculately clean. The staff are friendly and very helpful, the food buffet plentiful but very continental. Be aware that the excalator up from the car park is motion sensor activated, had we known it would have saved us lugging cases up the long flight of steps.

Room Tip: request high floor

A fürdőszoba szellőzése gyenge. A személyzet rendkívül kedves, a szobákat naponta takarítják, ágyneműt, törölközőt sűrűn cserélik.

We booked this hotel for the start of a touring holiday in Croatia. The hotel was reasonably easy to find. Although the parking area is at a lower level it is lucky there is a moving staircase to get you and your luggage to the reception as it is a steep climb. it is also not possible to get to most of the rooms from reception without going up stairs and so it would not really be suitable for anyone unable to climb stairs.

The rooms were quite small, especially the bathroom, but they were clean.

Meals were fine, we were half board and were pleasantly surprised to find local drinks included within the price

My girlfriend and I spent one week at the Laguna Istra hotel at the beginning of august 2010. The hotel is situated in a very nice location, almost in front of the sea, and is connected with a two way escalator to the parking lot nearby.
It is quite nice and modern from the outside, stylish and well furnished inside. Our room was large, cozy and very clean - we booked a seaview room but got only a partial seaview, anyway still nice. The bathroom was a little tiny as noted by other reviewers, but comfortable anyway.
Hotel staff was incredibly helpful and friendly (my girlfried even found a small present on its birthday!). The buffet was great both at breakfast and dinner with a large selection of international foods (free beverages, beer and wine too).
The pool was a little small and usually crowded (but it was august, so quite normal) but anyway who cares about pools - the sea is wonderful with clear water (no sand beaches) and lots of quiet pinewoods and trails along the coast.
As for the extra activities, there is no lack of options with guided tours and cruises, sport resorts, some (quiet) nightlife and shopping opportunities in the surrounding villages.
All in all we had a really great time here in Croatia and a very pleasant stay at Laguna Istra - would definitely recommend to both families and couples looking for a great and relaxing holyday!
