This was our second visit to this hotel and it was still excellent!! I was pleased to see that they had taken note of my last years review which informed them of the broken parasols round the pool. Every broken one was replaced by new ones - well done!! There was absolutely nothing we could fault, our room was first class, the food first class and all the staff are amazing. Dino and Tomazin from the bar looked after us extremely well - thank you. The only down side to this hotel is that it is not disabled friendly, this didn't bother us but would advise that if you cant do stairs don't go there!. I would also like to thank Andersons coaches of Ferrybridge, W.Yorks, the company we travelled with. If you travel by coach then this is the company to go with, first class service throughout the entire holiday thank you so much.

Room tip: Room 153 is a perfect room overlooking the pool and sea.

We stayed here in June as a family (2 adults and a nearly 3 year old).

The hotel was brilliant, very modern bright and airey also it was immaculately cleaned. Our room faced the pool area and was a good size with a very comfortable bed etc As mention in other reviews you have to hire the fridge, we did without.

The pool area was good with a largish pool, again as mentioned you need your own towels, we got some in Porec for 100 kuna each as did have any to bring with us.

The restaurant was good, the food was of a high standard and a good selection. It does get busy but we went a bit layer to avoid the rush. We mixed it with eating out in Porec as there are lots of great places and extremely good value for money. The hotel bar was very good and good value with very friendly staff.

The hotel is only a short walk, about 30 mins for Porec with lots of play parks and an artificial beach on the way.

All in all it was a great hotel and resort and I would definately go back.

This hotel gets good reviews for the simple reason that it's a good hotel with great staff. The public areas are large, bright airy and modern, the rooms are good, it's located close to Porec in an area of natural beauty, there is a good feel to the place and the right ingredients for a great holiday.

The rooms vary in size and I think that some are not very large but we asked for one on the pool/sea side of the hotel which may be a bit bigger. The room itself is functional really but it's fine. There is one wardrobe and there isn't loads of hanging space or shelves but we didn't have lots of clothes for one week and with a bit of thought we managed fine. It helps to tuck your cases away so that they don't take up space.
We hired a fridge and you also have to pay for the safe. We brought a little kettle with us to make a tea or coffee.
The bathroom was perfectly fine with a wet room type shower and lots of hot water at any time. The towels are on the small side.
There is a balcony with 2 chairs and a little table.

We were situated just above the area where the entertainment took place in the evenings but it finished at 11 - 11.30 and I fell asleep before it finished a couple of times.

We found all of the staff to be helpful, polite, professional and friendly.

We used the pool area a couple of times. There are sun loungers but no mats or towels provided. The hotel shop sells fold up mats and towels, or you could buy them in Porec. We bought towels as we hadn't realised that the hotel don't provide them but didn't buy the mats. However the sun lounger gets uncomfortable after a little while with just a towel. Really it is best to take the towels with you from home and probably to buy the mats and leave them behind.
The pool is salt water but it's a nice clean pool and well maintained.
There were plenty of sun loungers available when we were there in the first half of June.

The hotel has a shop selling gifts and some essentials and there is also a Thai Massage salon next to the shop though we didn't use it during our stay.

Guests while we were there were mostly of an older age group but there were some young families also. I think the age of guests would change depending on the time of year. There were many German guests with a mix of other nationalities but just a small number of British which didn't bother us to be honest. I don't think it would appeal to young couples all that much.

We were there on a half board basis and enjoyed the selection of food which had plenty of variety for us and you would certainly never go hungry. Some of the dishes were very tasty indeed.

Meal times were a bit on the manic side if you arrived early for your meal with people queueing to get in before the doors opened. There is a reasonably sized outdoors area as part of the restaurant and it was very popular with people making a bee line for it. However some of the people who sat outside stayed at the tables all evening in the main meaning that those who followed had to sit inside.
This is partly due to the free local wine and beer which meant the restaurant being treated as a free bar for the evening by some not just for the duration of the meal.

The dining room is huge but it needs to be as there must be hundreds and hundreds of people fed there during an evening. The hotel is part of a large complex which includes self catering bungalows which are separate to the hotel and there are lots of them. It would seem that many of these guests choose to eat at the hotel. As a result meal times were very busy and chaotic at times. There were a lot of families with young children. They were generally fine but with young children helping themselves to food there were spillages especially milk from cereal bowls in the mornings.

The dining experience is a bit like a large cafeteria on a very busy lunch time. There is lots of noise and people walking in all directions, some queueing some not bothering, children darting in and out, trollies with used crockery going up and down etc and to be honest most people just enjoying the food and free wine and beer but it's not a place to have a quiet meal or to relax though it worked very well for families especially those with children.

The Istrian evening was great, I really enjoyed the music and dancing which started in the bar area with a free drink and some local delicacies. Then the musicians moved to the restaurant during meal time and continued to perform there. The restaurant was beautifully decorated in white table cloths and chair covers. It did give it a special feel and atmosphere and was a lovely way to spend our last evening.

My husband had a birthday while we were in Croatia and he was surprised with a card and bottle of wine in our room, we appreciated the thought by the hotel. What was even more surprising was that I had been in the room all day as I managed to get heat stroke due to temperatures in the mid 30's during a 6 hour boat trip the previous day. I didn't leave the room until about 7pm but when we returned there was the bottle of wine and the card. I think the lady who cleaned the rooms worked very long hours as did many of the staff.

There is evening entertainment consisting of a band with a singer playing well known songs for the main part though many of the songs are a bit yesteryear. Some couples did a bit of waltzing.
There is entertainment for children during the day and a kiddies disco I think and talent show, not too sure but certainly a children's animation team.
There is aqua fit in the pool twice a day and other there may be other activities which I am not aware of.

As other people have mentioned it's a nice easy walk to lovely Porec and the little 'train' is great. You can catch it just outside the hotel front entrance if you don't want to walk or you could just catch it back. You can also catch a boat taxi which is really fast or an ECO taxi which is human pedal power.

There are some great cafes and restaurants in Porec and plenty to chose from. We enjoyed the cafe/bar in one of the old Venetian towers called Torre Rotonda. It's nice and cool up there on a hot day and great views.
The Euphrasian basilica is worth a visit and a Unesco World Heritage site with items dating from the 6th century.
Porec itself goes back to Roman times and subsequent civilisations have all left their mark.

There are bus and boat trips which can be taken to various destinations.

Overall I would say this is a good hotel with a lot going for it, the dining experience didn't suit us but I would happily stay here again B&B. It is suitable for all ages and has the right ingredients for a lovely holiday in the Porec area.

Room tip: I would recommend a sea and pool view room which has a balcony.

Hotel Laguna Mediteran is set in a beautiful part of Porec, surrounded by lovely trees and grassed areas. It is less than 5 mins walk to the rocky coastal area which has small man made bathing areas along the coast. It is approx 20 mins walk into Porec. There is a local tourist train that goes from the front of the hotel direct to Porec at regular times throughout the day. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly, with most if not all speaking very good English. The rooms can be on the small side but are very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was the only let-down, most of the hotel guests are from Germany and the menu would appear to be based on what they prefer to eat, there is free beer and local wine with all meals. we stayed as a couple and simply because of the poor food menu we would not return to this hotel. We would however return to Porec as it is such a lovely town to stay with lots of excellent eating places and bars in the area.
