“Very bad holidays”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Shame I did not read all the reviews earlier.. we were looking forward to this vacation but at the end we were very disappointed. The floor was dirty when we came and was not cleaned properly at all during our stay and the toilet was very smelly...although it was "cleaned" each day.
There was not sandy beach near the hotel, so it was not family friendly beach..we expected sandy beach so our son could play in the sea but this was not possilbe at all. The little playground for children in front of apartments was nice though. Porec is very close and nice town.

Absolutely not worth its money, we left 2 days earlier.

I think there should be done something with cleaning because people dont want to pay for dirty and smelly apartment.

We were staying there for one week and a half. We paid 200 euros per night. We did not have Internet access in the apartment - we always had to go to the reception. In the toilet, we felt the smell of canalisation pipes. The air conditioning was not working, but the days were hot. On the beach, we had sand, but usually in Croatia there are stone beaches. Because of this, we had sand in our beds and on the floor. There are 400 rooms in the whole hotel, but there are only 45 bicycles. This is not enough. If we did not come at 9 o'clock - we could not have a bicycle. The swimming pool was smelly, as there was a lot of chloride in the water. There is no air conditioning in the Maro club, so the children were really tired after visiting it. Sometimes, it is not very easy to find the parking. Every morning, the seagulls were shouting, but you cannot solve this. Now - the positives. There are stones on the edge of the sea, so the water was clean. The employees were friendly. The rooms had an excellent view on the sea. It was not far from Poreč, so we could get there on the bikes. What we also liked - the bike store rooms. The apartments are not far from the beaches. There are shops and supermarkets nearby, so you can buy everything you need. The live music was cool. If you like cycling - it is the best place to go, because there are many places to visit.

Dear Guest,

I would like to thank you for choosing Pinia residence and for sharing your opinion about our facilities and services. We appreciate your comments as they give us the opportunity to improve our property and service. You can rest assured that we will take them into account and try to improve on all the mentioned points.
It is obvious that you had some defects in your appartment and I regret that we failed to rectify them. We are always trying hard to fix all of the malfunctions reported to our maintenance.
As for your remark about our swimming pool I must point out that the water treatment is automatic and it is set to meet the sanitary rquirements prescribed by croatian laws and keep the water in pool safe for your use.
Finally I would like to appologize for not meeting your exepectations, I hope that despite all the bad points mentioned you had a good and relaxing vacation. I also hope that your experience at our property will not deter you from booking our or any other Valamar properties in the future.
Should you choose to book our property again I would be happy to take personal care of your stay so that it runs smoothly and pleasantly.
Kind regards,

This is a great hotel with very nice friendly staff. The rooms were good and the hotel was very clean. The food was excellent with free local beer and wine on tap. Breakfast was plentiful and some of it was freshly cooked to order, with a good variety of coffee, including instant which my wife prefers, The swimming pool was very nice but rather cold. We would difinitely stay here again without hesitation.

1. ROOMS - no safe, no internet, single beds for the couple!!(had to combine the beds), TV from the last century(the remote even didnt work had to buy batteries, because the staff didnt do anything), the walls and the door were so thin that we could here everything that happened outside, air conditioning is very low (better if i hide myself in the fridge), the bathroom is small, dirty and the shower barely poors any water, wardrob is in the corner so it is impossible to get to it.

2. SERVICE - no service - the staff is highly untrained, not friendly (old ladies cleaning the floor looked like that we were in a hospital) (the "do not disturb sign" didn work at all, they just invaded in the morning to clean our room even if we were sleeping!! Even turned off the Airconditioner when we were away, I gues to save some money).

3. ATMOSPHERE - due to August there were a lot of people, therefore it was very crouded. (cant really complain about that, just high season)

4. FOOD - not large choice, we were promised with shrimps, instead got cheap oily french fries and burgers!! I can cook better...

5. ENVIRONMENT - I should say that the nature is beautiful but there garbage was always lying in many places, nobody from the staff really carried about it.

6. SEA - personaly did not like it, you have to wear these rubber boots and walk at least 20 meters, due of corral riffs, to get to a spot where you can actually swim, and this spot was usually full of people.

CONCLUSION - not worth its money (1.800,- EUR), we left like 3 days earlier, this hotel is from the last century when people didnt know what good service is. I mean, we come to this place to enjoy our stay and have a rest but instead we had to "survive". They have to do something about it unless they want to stay a low quality hotel.

We have just returned back from a wonderful holiday at the Valamar Pinia- August 20-27. The hotel is spacious, very clean and has a nice atmosphere. The pool is an adequate size with plenty of sunbeds and parasols to be found. The bedroom again is large enough and contains everything that you could need. The restaurant caters for all tastes and the food is of a good standard and always fresh. All staff are very friendly and helpful and will take the time to talk to you. The excellent location allows for a short 10/15 minute walk in to Porec or you may choose the train which operates frequently throughout the day/night. There is also a nice walk along the beach front in the opposite direction. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel for all ages and would definitely return in the future.
Thank you again for a memorable holiday (room 249).

We have just returned from the Pinia Hotel (20-27th August) having spent a week there with our teenagers aged 15 and 19. We were concerned about some of the reviews we had read just before our arrival but we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was absolutely full to bursting with young German, Italian and Austrian families so the pool and beach were always busy but we managed to find sunbeds every day and used the pool at quieter times. At the beach the sunbeds are more spaced out, the grassy area is nice and clean but the sunbeds and shades in this area have to be paid for.
The food was great and suited us all, the seafood night was excellent and there was a different main dish available every day. I had a few of the vegetarian options which were also very good, however the freshly made pizzas were the biggest hit, provided you were prepared to queue up for them because as soon as they came out of the oven they were gone. Despite being really full the dining room was very well organised by Claudio, tables were cleared quickly and there was no hanging around looking for a place to sit. Staff, though extremely busy, were courteous and helpful at all times.
The rooms were small and functional but we found the beds comfortable and the air con worked. I think the showers could do with and upgrade and the rooms also need to have safes installed as it's a bit of a nuisance having to leave any valuables on reception because quite often the staff were busy and it was necessary to hang around and wait to get your things out.
The hotel offers an excellent free bike hire service which we used. The quality of the bikes was really good and we enjoyed following the well signposted "Porec North" circuit, only the really hot weather prevented us doing more exploring by bike. Similarly we hired tennis racquets and played on the well maintained courts, though this did incur an extra charge.
We liked the location particularly being able to do the 15 minute walk into Porec on a mainly pedestrian route, and because it was so close to the town it was possible to walk in after dinner and enjoy the atmosphere there in the evening. The main attraction seemed to be looking at the big boats moored in the harbour and watching out for any celebrities!
Entertainment in the hotel in the evening varied and was geared towards those with young families however the band on Monday Deja vu were impressive. There were only two other English people in the hotel the week we stayed there but that wasn't a problem as even though there were so few of us the everything was relayed in Italian German and English.
Despite and being there in the height of the season we felt most welcome in the hotel and could not fault any of the staff who were all hardworking and polite.
