We spent three nights in the hotel - the place had many positives not least its location right in the heart of town and a good sized room). We phoned at the prearranged rendezvous point and one of the staff came and picked us up in the electric cart which others have mentioned leading us first to free parking (which is a long way from the hotel) and then driving us and our luggage to the hotel. Check in was a breeze. The owner, a lawyer from Zagreb, was a really interesting character and he has created a really neat little place right in the centre of things and clearly had plans for expansion. We did have a fee niggles though: the owner relied on some quite young staff to run the hotel the Cook (who was clearly talented from the tapas we tried) never got up early enough for us at least to cook breakfast (sorry - if the breakfast starts at a certain time the cook should be there not strolling in at 9). The cold breakfast was ok but it would have been nice to have eggs etc on one of our three mornings there! I felt the place would have benefitted from a manager to keep the youngsters on their toes and under control more. The spa was out of use but we used the gym which was great. Check out was a little challenging as the female receptionist spoke very poor English. However, these are all niggles and we take the memory of our final night listening to guitar on the street outside and the owner sharing some of his plans with us as something very special. Would recommend the hotel to anyone.

This is a delightful hotel in a perfect location in the old town of Rovinj. Everything about it was good, a fabulous room, good breakfast, friendly hospitable staff, a charming owner. So why only very good? The booking and check out took ages and both had errors. Don't let this put you off though as it really is a great place to stay.

The villa is in the old center of the town. They bring your luggage for free with a electrical golfcar to the hotel. Because cars are not allowed,in the old center. The rooms are beautiful, studio was super. The bed was excellent. Very modern hotel of high standards.

Room Tip: Studios are a bit bigger than a room

I can't say enough good things about this charming hotel! It is centrally located, and the service was excellent. I loved the sauna and the rooms are really lovely. The breakfast is also delicious. Rovinj is an adorable town, and this hotel added to the experience.

The villa is a charming place tucked away in the old town section of Rovinj. The unassuming exterior belies the elegant interior. Service, from the golf cart transport from the offsite parking to the villa, to the well-informed recommendations for restaurants and local attractions provided by Sandra was outstanding. Our room with an exposed brick ceiling and beams and spa-styled bathroom was a welcome respite from those at conventional hotels. The intimacy of the breakfast room and ground level library contribute to the home-away from home ambience of the Villa Valdibora.

The first thing to remember is that Rovinj is a very historic town with narrow alleys instead of streets so you don't get car access. Inside many of the hotels there will be no life (elevator) access and the rooms will be of different sizes and generally small. You can't expect a US/Canadian style hotel so taking 8 suit cases is not an option.

The things I loved about the Villa Valdibora:
a) The building - very historic with an interesting mix of old and new furniture, decoration and lighting
b) Our room (#11) was furnished in a "rustic romantic" style (pink and lilac) - not everyone is going to like this but it worked for me
c) Breakfast was light and "local" which meant I was satisfied but not bloated - which is good because there are so many local restaurants for lunch
d) The spa was amazing - tucked into "caves" under the buildings - very high end (but you have to pay)
e) The team - very helpful and interesting to talk with. They recommended several local restaurants and were able to explain about the history of the town and Croatia

The less good (things to be aware of):
a) Parking is a distance from the hotel and the staff can give you a lift in their electric golf cart (park in a pay car-park, check in then the staff take the cart to your car, pick up your luggage and show you the free parking)
b) Our room was on the top floor so we had to carry our luggage up lots and lots of stairs - something older people might find a struggle

I would definitely recommend the Valdibora to family and friends.

Room Tip: We had room #11 in the "attic" - excellent furniture and design but a lot of stairs to wal...

A truly romantic place in the heart of the old town of Rovinj! Friendly service and beautifully decorated rooms. We stayed under the roof in a perfect little home away from home with nice views over the old town.
