Had really lovely holiday, in the beautiful resort of rovinj. Hotel amenities were good, staff helpful, food pretty good. Beautiful location with pool amongst trees on edge of national park, so if you wanted shelter from sun, it was easy to find. Although a large hotel and peak season, it never felt full, and like you were falling over each other as the grounds were so big, and the times for breakfast and dinner were long, so no one was rushing in all at same time.

Old fashioned 80s communist hotel been made over. Has some newer rooms in wing added on later which we eventually had after been given bath mum would not fit in. According to thompsons guide we shouldn't have been allocated those rooms in main building but it was big room and for anyone agile enough bath would not have been an issue. Building work in next door hotel would have been. Once moved to new wing was fine.
Large grounds and large pool but if want to walk into town nice walk along coast but takes 20 minutes which when very hot is quite draining.

Got back from Croatia this week. Really was an excellent holiday with the family. We stayed at the Hotel Eden in Rovinj. The weather obviously made a difference,,,blue skies the whole week except the last day but did not mind by then. The Hotel is in a pine forest/National Park that is truly breathtaking. One of the best I have seen (compares well with the Italian Lakes, Austrian Lakes and Mountains where we have also stayed in the past) Half Board.....good choice of food, buffet style is always our preferred option, and caters for most tastes. Lots of Europeans which I liked and embarrasingly they all spoke near perfect English. (Even the woman in the local chemist serving at the till told me I had picked up the wrong bottle in excellent English) Kids Club everyday even though our 7 yr old was not interested as he preferred to be in the huge pool and swim in the sea. Also good value for money.....most things cheaper than the UK although like most Hotels you get stung for your drinks at dinner time. Rovinj was very nice, an artists district in the cobbled streets overlooked by a church on a Hill. There was construction work going on about 50 yards away which thankfully did not really disturb us whilst we were there with three huge cranes spoiling the skyline. Rovinj is great though and would definitely recommend it. If the Hotel and.or tourist board were asking "how to improve things ?" (1) make people clean up after there dogs (2) serve at least a jug of iced water at dinner on the table (3) Get rid of the cranes asap . I suspect we will go back again

Great two week break - initial disappointment with hotel quality and building work (it was not fully suspended despite the bull hotel trip advisor posts; four tower cranes were erected during our stay and these loomed very large over the pool and gardens)overcome by a truly wonderful resort and lovely friendly staff.

Pool - salt water made this unpopular along with the dated and slightly crumbling surroundings. Not helped by a pool bar which consisted of a shed in the gardens equipped with a fridge with canned beer and soft drinks only at full bar prices)

Gardens - extremely quiet, great for sleeping, most occupants appeared to be in advanced stage of life / early stage of death.

Food - terrible, but we have no experience of Croatian hotel food and it was easy enough to get something to eat every night. Definitely not worthy of the Thomson 4* rating. I would advise budget to eat out a few nights to break the monotony. I have never seen pasta, sprouts and brocoli on the breakfast buffet before, however this caused amusement after a few days rather than annoyance.

Coast is lovely - not as quiet as lead to believe due to numerous locals at weekends, however some lovely quiet spots on weekdays and crystal clear sea.

Town is breathtaking, very busy at night with a cosmopolitan crowd and a wonderful friendly atmosphere. Everyone we met was unfailingly friendly and nothing seems to be expensive.

Strongly recommend all the local boat trips and the restaurants in the old town - worth waiting for a table.

Boat trip to Venice - be sure it is a good weather forecast and take the trip in the knowledge it is four hours each way and everything at Venice, including transport into St Matks Square, is an additional charge.

The party atmosphere on Sunday 29/08 and brilliantly extravagant firework display capped a great family holiday.

All in all, a thoroughly recommended holiday. There is not much choice of good hotel accommodation which no doubt props up the Eden prices and, once again, respect to the bar (upstairs and down) and serving staff who were so friendly.

Short flight and transfer make this destination appealing. Hotel was ok, rooms big enough but poor storage and cleanliness, free room safe but Pringles taking up room in mini bar! Decent bars and cafes for lunches on site but not cheap. Food ok in restaurant but v repetitive over 14 nights, however good excuse to visit Rovinj where excellent choice of restaurants. Grounds huge, lovely setting in pine trees, big pool but cold ( but aqua- aerobics session with animations team good fun for all!) lots of free sun beds and free towels for pool use. library of left over books useful.
Rovinj is a wow town! lots of things to do there and worth the walk. I hope it does not get spoilt by development too soon. ( no building work in August but site looks very close to Eden hotel)
We were really pleased with our first trip to Croatia, we will certainly return but maybe a different hotel choice.

The Hotel Eden is nice place, staff are great, and the food is a little samey but nice all the same. The staff work hard to make your stay pleasurable and the wireless internet is available all over the hotel and in the rooms. The pool is great and the large lawned area a nice place to relax. However, you can hear the "but" from a mile off and here comes the issues:

Firstly, the Movini Centre. At 10 mins walk from the hotel is Croatia's largest club, bar and cabaret venue. Great for the young ones but not so good when you are getting "bump bump bump" until 5am in the morning. The problem being that with everywhere else being so quiet the sound travels and despite the distance from the hotel it was most definatley in ear shot.

Secondly, the old towel on the sunbed thing, unless you went down early and put a towel on a bed (or two) it was near impossible to get one later on in the afternoon (1pm plus) with beds unoccupied but toweled. Most of these towels provided by the hotel. Sadly we had to take a "can't beat them join them" stance just to ensure we had beds.

Thirdly, the walk to Rovinj. In the book it says leisurely 15 minute walk. Rubbish. 20 - 25 minutes and on a couple of occasions we just couldn't be bothered because it was that little bit too far. Shame really as Rovinj is truely a beautiful city and well worth a visit (or two) and we did go 4 out of the 7 days.

FInally, the new apartments. They will most definatly be sharing the complex and with the towel situation this would lead to a busier place all round.

Maybe I'm an old grump but I like things a little quieter and I found the Eden a little "touristy" and busy. Which is a shame as I liked the Hotel, the area and Croatia in general. Chances are we'll be going somewhere in Croatia again, next year!
