“Park Hotel, Rovinj”
Reviewed 14 May 2012

Walking into the Park Hotel, Rovinj and I thought I'd inadvertantly found myself in 1980s Miami. The only thing missing was Scarface's Tony Montana. This is because the hotel lobby has a glamourous, decadent feel to it which immediately puts one in the holiday mood. The rest of the hotel looks a bit like a stranded cruise liner ... not sure if it were designed like this on purpose but the external architecture is definitely a bit eccentric.

This doesn't matter though, as the views from the hotel are magical and the bedrooms are extremely clean. The positioning of the hotel, for me, worked too. It was far away enough from town to feel slightly exclusive/peaceful, but in reality it's a few minutes walk away from the centre.

I had several massages in the beauty salon and one in the actual massage room. Both were excellent and deserve a mention as highly recommended. There is a great indoor swimming pool and I swam a few lengths in the outdoor pool too but, in May, it was still a bit chilly.

Food at the hotel is self service, and at times I found the dining room a bit noisy and crowded. However, the food itself was great. There's a huge range of high quality grub. Although my preference is to be healthy, the delicious chocolate pancakes and waffles were too hard to resist. Only complaint was the coffee which isn't up to UK standards yet.

Rovinj itself is fairytale gorgeous. Take a sunset trip on Gordon's boat 'la Mare'. You can't miss it - it's the one blasting out jazz as you walk into town. The glass bottomed boat trip is great too. And Sante Croce restaurant does incredible steaks, in a beautiful & elegant setting. Croation ice cream is renowned and it was my experience that any random kiosk, from the many that were in the town, could be guaranteed to sell sensational ice cream.

The only other thing to mention about the Park was the rubbish wi-fi. If you are hoping to get away from your smart device, then this is definitely the place to do it. However, if you want to keep connected, then don't rely on the Park.

All in all, it was an enjoyable stay.

Small rooms, but not to small for us! really liked the breakfast bufè and the view from the table. The staff is friendly and the hotel is clean. It's close to the mini-mart and a pizzeria. You have to walk to get to the city of Rovinj but it's not to far a walk.
Love the pool area and the aerobic!

Room Tip: Choose a room with view over the ocean and city

Stayed at the Hotel Park September 2011. Loved the hotel and its facilities. Our room was very clean and spacious and was actually a family room yet there was only 2 of us. We found the food very good and breakfast on the terrace is a must. The view fron the terrace of the town is stunning. Most of the staff were pleasant and we found the younger members more so than the older ones. One grumpy waiter! Our stay was interupted one night by a wedding party which went on until the early hours of the morning, 4 ish. Despite complaints the noise never let up. We were eventually and kindly given a free back bedroom to sleep in for the rest of the night. If not for this I would have given 5 stars for the Park..

Room Tip: Room at the front was fairly quiet apart from noisy wedding one night.

we found hotel park to be very clean, rooms quite small but had all that you need. Staff friendly and helpful. Always found something nice to eat at breakfast and evening meal. if you use the terrace for breakfast dont leave your table unatended as it will get burgled by the local seagulls!
the pool area was nice and clean and there was a range of entertainments which was great for teens and younger children, our 16 yr old had a great time, water polo, shooting etc, he even joined in with water areobics ( but suspect this was due to a lot of teenage girls in tiny bikinis taking part) we were happy for teenagers to have freedom at night drinking age is 21 so they couldnt get served no clubs etc, but lots of street entertainment/buskers ect. Rovinj is beautiful lots of cobbled streets and interesting allyways would go again.
