This is an old hotel in one of the quieter streets of this busy old town. It's been nicely refurbished and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Most of the them don't have great views but that's not surprising given that towns tend to have other buildings that get in the way. Rooms have efficient aircon if it gets too hot. There are pleasant public areas and there's a lovely logia at the very top of the building (sea view) where you can sit with a drink and watch the boats go by. There's also a little library/reading room on the same floor. Breakfast is a buffet served on the terrace/garden. There's lots of choice and eggs, etc are cooked to order. Staff were helpful and jolly.
Regarding previous reviews: One wonders what some people expect. You choose an old hotel in the centre of town and complain because it isn't a modern, sterilized, designer hotel with panoramic views and deathly silence after 10pm. True, there isn't a lift (elevator) - but excercise is good for you! A very little research would have told you that this wasn't for you!

Room Tip: This hotel is in a town with tall and narrow streets so it's going to be a bit noisy at night/ea...

Hotel heritage - Angelo d'oro is a really nice one. it's located in the citycenter, in an old and beautiful building. it's in the historical part of the city, so you have to leave the car in a free parking place (small con , the car will stay in front of the sea with no protection at all) and a minibus will ake you to the hotel. fantastic if you plan to visit the city and spend you time there, a bit tricky if you would like to see the other nice places nearby (Porec, Leme Canal, Pula and so on).
Maybe i was really lucky (I visited the hotel not in the peak season), but rooms where clean and comfortable, breakfast was offering a huge selection of salt and sweet dishes, and the entire building was nice and transmmitting the charme of the history.

Stayed at hotel in July ’11 for 1 night with partner. $180EU for an attic room 6 flights up (no lift). No fan/window in bathroom. Squashy room was very musty. Linen clean but blanket, carpet & mattress were highly questionable. Don't recall air conditioning. Asked to change rooms. Other room was the same quality but more expensive so we stayed in first room. We're from Australia, travel a lot, saw pretty much most of Croatia and during our time Hotel Angelo was the most overpriced hotel we found for the quality. I remember feeling very disappointed and ripped off at the time.

Despite that, the positives are: the hotel breakfast was very good and held in a pretty courtyard. Hotel is also in a great location.

The second night in Rovinj we stayed in a ‘home stay’ apartment found via travel agent in town. MUCH better value for money ie. $70Eu for 2 adults, clean and tidy, private entry and ensuite, great location as well. We found one home stay for $35Eu in another town that also had private balcony overlooking beautiful courtyard, clean room, air con, ensuite, safe etc. My point is there is no need to spend a lot of money in Croatia to have a good accommodation experience.

Hotel had old world charm and the location could not be beat. Breakfast on the terrace was really cute and novel although the breakfast itself was nothing special. Only negatives I have about the room was that the mattress was horrible and the shower in our bath tub leaked every where so you had to be a cirque de soleil acrobat in order not the get the water to make a lake all over the bathroom. I am not so I almost killed myself climbing out of the tub and down the steps in the bathroom. Yes, there are steps in the bathroom. Leave the lights on in the bathroom when you sleep. All I can say.

I'll remember for a long time my refreshing cold beer drunk looking out over the bay, standing on the balcony of the loggia of the hotel. Yes, the room is quite expensive by Croatian standards, but I thought the hotel provided an elegant and peaceful haven in a very touristy town. I didn't have breakfast, because I had to leave early for the boat, so I can't comment on that.

We enjoyed Rovinj and very much enjoyed the hotel. It is in a wonderful location, we had a beautiful view of the sea. The breakfast in the hotel garden is lovely and included in the room price. The staff were extremely helpful with dinner suggestions and making reservations for us. In addition we were in need of a driver and Branco took care of all the arrangements. Goran was also very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel. It was nice to have free internet in the lobby and a laptop that was available to use. The room was a good size and the bathroom adequate, Americans travelling in Europe often complain of small bathrooms, this was fine for us but the shower might be considered small for some people.

Its old fashioned, interesting, quirky, and uneven in what it delivers, our party of 12 were completely divided on it. We had a superior room on the second floor up the secondary staircase and it felt inferior, what superior meant was a "sea" view. The gap between the decaying chimneys did show us the sea but 50 % of the view was crumbling masonary. The bed was hard and low and the room was dark with heavy dark wood wardrobe and no drawer space. Was it charming as many of the tripadvisors found, well the main staircase was and the garden was and the breakfast, taken outside under the flowering trees, was delightful, the dining room was dark and dreary and we saw no one in it in the two days we stayed. The aggressive sign "towels must be used correctly" or 100 euro fine placed in every bathroom was really off-putting and i struggled to think as I dried myself on them if I was getting it right, or if anyone was checking. The location on one of the main little roads from the harbour guarantees that there is a noisy flow of tourists under your window if you are in the "superior" rooms. Its old its interesting and its well placed in the heart of Rovinj if that matter's more to you than a big comfy bed and a quiet night's sleep then this could be for you.

Room Tip: ask for a courtyard view
