The port area of Rovinj is a great place to spend a few hours on an evening. The area is full of bars and restaurants where you can eat and drink in lovely surroundings without breaking the bank. The port is full of all types of boat from private yachts to ferries and pleasure trip boats. You can find live music and at times,as we found during our stay, free concerts. All in all a great place.

On our boat trip we made short stop in Rovinj (in my and many other opinions is the most beautifull town on Istrian coast). So, the view on the old town from Port is the best (it is quite close, but far enough to see it properly). On a hot day it was too much to make a walk to old center (with a toddler + pregnant), so we took a taxi to find best pizzeria and walk a bit on tiny streets in center.but otherwise, the restaurant is also on the entrance of the port (hotel).

There is every size of boat in the Rovinj harbor. Every day you will see the local batana boats and other smaller type boats and you will also see yachts on a regular basis. We frequently would stop at a bar and just watch the activity in the harbor.

We took the glass bottom boat that goes around many of the islands close to Rovinj on a "sunset cruise". We had the entire top of the boat to ourselves for most of the cruise which was wonderful. They gave us local white wine to enjoy but it wasn't chilled and would have been great cold.

Dolphins are in the waters around Rovinj and the boats make a point of finding them and you can take pictures of them popping out of the water.

There was a demonstration of two men refinishing a batana boat around the pier area of the harbor working at night with lights. They were removing layers of old paint with a heating element and then it would be caulked and repainted. It was a little different and interesting to watch.

They put on entertainment venues along the waterfront too so it changes regularly and who knows what will be going on when you're there. Just relax and enjoy it whatever it is.

Again, you cannot go to Rovinj without seeing the Port of Rovinj and the harbor as they are both part of the downtown area.

Lots to see. Just sit and watch the world go by or take a walk along the port and see some of the fantastic boats owned by the rich and famous.

This is one busy little port. There are fishermen, aqua taxis, yachts and ferry boats coming and going from early until late. It is a wonderful place to walk or enjoy the view from a sidewalk cafe and there are many from which to choose. The area is kept spotlessly clean and the water so clear you can spot little fish in ten to fifteen feet deep water.
