Pictures really do not do it justice. The view when you walk in the door is jaw dropping. Lobby bar may have the best view. The service here is incredible with everyone from the concierge, housekeeping and waitstaff just going above and beyond to make sure you have an incredible stay. Both of the hotel restaurants are excellent. We really enjoyed the 2nd floor rest for casual meals of whole fish but Wine Vault was a great splurge night. Wine selection is amazing. The wife and I drank nothing but Istrian wine and wish we could find more in the US. Definitely missing Rovinj

Room Tip: Get the optional breakfast. Excellent selection of local charcuterie, cheeses, olives, breads. Defi...

Dear Guests,

What else could we add to such rewarding comments? It has been a privilege to welcome you and your husband to the hotel Monte Mulini, Rovinj during your visit and we are so grateful for your eloquent recognition. Nothing is more important for us so thank you one more time. Hope you had a chance to take home with you a bottle of Istrian wine which we are really proud off.

Lovely hotel, staff and food excellent and a beautiful pool with delightful views. However..there are a lot of steps! We were in a two story suite with a flight of steps between bedroom & sitting room - in order to reach the restaurant, more steps. To walk down to the promenade connecting to the town, there were nine flights of STEPS. Not the hotel's fault, it is set into a hill side but it was an issue for me and one I was not prepared for.

Rovinj itself is about a mile to the central part where most restaurants are. Food was consistently excellent and very good value. At least I didn't put any weight on due to all the walking and steps!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your impressions about our hotel. One-floor or two-floor Executive or Junior suites are indeed two verry different concepts in terms of design and content but we will be delighted if we can pick for you one you prefer the best for the next time.

Thank you for highlighting food in our town which is one of our main focus within destination.
We hope to have soon the pleasure of welcoming you back

Kind Regards,

I so wanted to give this Hotel 5 stars but it falls short. The hotel itself is lovely and in a perfect position, with rooms and public areas kept spotless. First impressions are great, greeted well at reception, excellent food and service at breakfast (I must mention Nada who is superb) and very good service elsewhere. But after a few days you notice the negatives, your room does not have tea or coffee making, the TV has 35 channels only 2 in English BBC world news and CNBC, there is a shortage of hot water on some afternoons. In the pool area there are no changing or toilets facilities and the pool boys use the dineing area decking to dry and clean sunbeds etc. Bikes are available to use if you can find the person in charge of them! Food and drinks are expensive, twice the price found locally! Reception is by far the bad failing at this hotel when it comes to a problem, with a total lack of empathy, understanding or communication, it seems they think a problem is rectified by saying sorry many times and giving you a bottle of wine, without actually listening and correcting the problem. Issues are made worse by the fact there are no Senior Management on view to speak to and when you ask they are always out or in a sister hotel (why arn't they more visable perhaps they could walk around the pool a couple of times a week) This could and should be a great hotel, but I'm afraid it is not.

Dear Guest,

I am writing to apologize for my absence during your stay. I know you expected me to be there, and it was important that I meet with you, but I was simply unable to make it as I attended several days in a row meeting with our consultants. The purposes of these meetings were new products for the next year like our new beach in the front of the hotel and other great plans for improvements for our distinguished guests. Thank you for sharing all your your impressions; we are sorry that you encountered some inconsistency in the room attendance and that the usual warmth and dedication of our Reception staff was somehow lacking. Please allow us to assure you that water problem was isolated case this year as the local conduit was broken for a while. We are already working with the reception stuff to make sure that your experience remains an isolated case and that our staff always represents the Monte Mulini values at the maximum level. We regret that you could not easily rent a bike during your visit and had to witness some cleanings in front of the Pool Bar. You’re absolutely right about no having possibility to make tea or coffee within the room, we’re having this possibility in Suites in our Anex bulding where is the kitchenette on disposal as well.

We trust however that you could enjoy the many attractions of Rovinj and our Istrian peninsula and that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future to show you the result of our constant improvements.

Kind Regards,
Assistant GM

The hotel is great: location, rooms, pool, view, food, etc. Possible improvements: such a spacious bathroom and they did not put a bidet? They could also improve their wifi Internet connection quality ( for comparison the Internet speed is excellent in the Lone hotel nearby). No facilities in the room to make tea or coffee. Apart from this everything seems great.

We're just back from a 10-night stay in Monte Mulini and can only add to the rave reviews.

We had a a spacious, very well-lit Executive room on floor two (room 206), with a view over the swimming-pool and bay. We were slightly towards the Hotel Lone end of MM but were never aware of any music or noise from there. In fact MM is the quietest hotel we've ever stayed in, with excellent internal soundproofing.
Air conditioning was very quiet and efficient.
The bathroom was the best we've ever had - so spacious with a big bath-tub, a wet room shower, a comfortable seat and double basins - perfect for my daughter and I!
Our twin beds were wide and extremely comfortable.
An easy chair with large low table, plenty of desk space, free wi-fi, a large wardrobe that could be accessed from the bathroom and the bedroom, and comfortable balcony chairs made everything so pleasant and convenient.
We appreciated the complimentary bottle of mineral water and chocolates every evening.
Housekeeping was impeccable.

In fact everywhere was as pristine as you would expect from a five star hotel. The pool was lovely, with its view of the bay. I usually avoid swimming-pools because I can't stand over-chlorinated water. I don't know what their water purification system is, but it was a joy to swim in. We also liked the gardens, with small pines for shade and sun-loungers, and I preferred that as my swimming "base" as it wasn't as hot as the pool-side. I swam in the late afternoon so wasn't aware of any lounger-grabbing issues!

Breakfast is very important to me and MM's breakfasts were fabulous and catered for every taste! I loved the smoked salmon and marinated bream, and the selection of cold braised vegetables, zucchini, aubergine, peppers and fresh tomatoes, olives and more... We had beautifully cooked omelettes every day. Gorgeous bread, croissants and pastries, cheeses, fruit and a selection of lovely jams. The sage honey was wonderful. There was a big range of teas, including English breakfast tea, which one reviewers said was lacking, and a choice of full-cream or semi-skimmed milk. I could go on but don't want to be more of a breakfast bore than I already am!

The waiter service was very efficient, and all the waiters friendly and helpful. Couldn't be faulted.
We ate twice in Mediterraneo Restaurant, on the terrace, and were served by Andreas who was delightful, very helpful and informative about the wine, an excellent Istrian version of prosecco, a Malvasija, and a Cabernet Sauvignon with steak. The choice of dishes was not huge, but beautifully cooked and presented and I enjoyed the first meal so much that I had the same again (not something I usually do).
Of course the menu alters depending on the season and availability, but I can recommend the carpaccio of octopus with fennel (lovely combination) and sun-dried cherry tomatoes, and the braised fish in wine with potatoes (different fish on each occasion, depending on the catch), followed by the most delicious fig tart with sorbet and citrus sauce - one of the best desserts I've ever had! My daughter had asparagus risotto twice, melt-in-mouth confit of turkey, and the next time equally melty fillet steak.

We found all the staff absolutely professional, attentive, smiling, couldn't be bettered. The way the hotel is designed means that it does not feel big and impersonal, and it has a light and spacious feel everywhere. It is far less confusing than in other hotels we've stayed in to find one's way to the garden, pool area and promenade leading to Rovinj and the forest park, which make it very convenient and easy to go for walks among the pines, along the sea-front or into Rovinj.

We simply loved this hotel and its beautiful location, and if we return to Rovinj for another relaxing holiday, will be staying here again. Many thanks to the whole team at Monte Mulini.

Extra tips: Nearby along the promenade to Rovinj there is a Konsum mini-supermarket and a shop where you can buy beach shoes in a wide range of colours and sizes for 50 kuna, essential if you want to swim off the rocks along the coast or on Red Island and Santa Katerina Island.

Room Tip: Choose an executive room on a higher floor for better views and privacy

From the moment we arrived at reception the staff were very helpful and efficient, we had a room on the second floor (208) with fantastic views of the sea and the forest.

We did not have any issues with the sun beds, in fact the pool staff removed towels from reserved beds to allow us to use them and all staff at the pool bar were great and very attentive.

The food here is great,we were on half board and from the first breakfast to our last dinner we were not disappointed as there was so much choice. A big thanks to Daniel Ana and Andreas as they went above and beyond to make our dining experience more than 5 Star.

I could go on but you really need to come here to appreciate what this hotel has to offer, we will be back.

Room Tip: Rooms on level 2 and 3 have the best views but all are very well appointed
