Hotel Monte Mulini
Ranked #1 of 23 Hotels in Rovinj
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 19 August 2014

There isn’t much to say that hasn’t already been said, but Monte Mulini is a seriously fantastic hotel featuring fairly high up on our “places to return to” list. All the staff are fantastic and take pride in anticipating your needs and wishes.

The new Mulini Beach Club offers a very trendy and comfortable environment to while a few hours and/or sleep on thick mattresses. If you do get peckish the salads are sandwiches give a delicious modern twist, with wine and soft drinks always at the right temperature and served in the appropriate glassware.

Maybe listing the non-obvious aspects of the hotel and other tips might help other travellers. In no particular order we would say:
• If sea views are important to you ask for a higher floor
• Make use of the (free) cycles the hotel has for guests - Cycling into Rovinj to watch the sunset is special
• Take advantage of the (free) on-site BMW Z4 to visit - It’s yours for a 4-hour session. We went to Motovun & Pula’s Amphitheatre. both are stunning.
• Sit on a squashy bean-bed, order a glass of pink fiz and watch a spectacular sunset without having to leave the hotel from the beach club.
• Have dinner at Tipico, Santa Croce and if your budget allows Monte and the Wine Vault.
• Grab a cushion and have at least one cocktail sitting on the rocks at Valentino’s - they are quite pricy (almost double the hotel), but the experience is well worth it
• Watch a perfect sunset up by the church (the highest point of Rovinj)
• Enjoy fantastic Croatian wine sitting in the little square at Piassa Grande
• Take a sunset boat cruise - just an hour out to the little islands and back – seeing Rovinj start to put on its lights is magical

Room Tip: The higher the room the better the sea view

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for your rewarding comment.

Isn't it true that Motovun & Pula’s Amphitheatre are stunning especially if you can combine it BMW Coast drive experience on disposal at Monte Mulini. Then watching sunsets from Mulini Beach or from sailing boat trips...and etc.

Thank you for highlighting our destination gems, we're so proud of been a part of it.

Best wishes

Visited here for a week in August with 3 daughters. We all thought this was the best hotel we'd ever stayed in. Scrupulously clean with the most beautiful views. Reception was at the top of the hotel with the rooms below. Rooms are all the same except you pay more for the higher floors and better views. For once we opted for ground floor rooms which were cheapest ( nothing is cheap in this hotel!) but in turned out to a real advantage as we were very close to pool. We came with plans to tour the area but ended up only wanting to spend our days at the pool. We used to think the idea of being by a pool was a nightmare but the way the patio is laid out meant that you often felt you were on your own always with stunning views and that breeze! Rooms were, frankly, wonderful - plenty of space with possibly the best bathrooms we have ever encountered. Massive beds and uber efficient air con. Only slight criticism was that they could do with a set of drawers as we ended up using our case as storage. Also, despite having an enormous bed you got separate quilts which was odd. The controls to the room took a little getting used to so do avail yourself of the porters explanation!

Breakfast was truly excellent even if we had to occasionally bully the staff to give us a table outside ( there were 5 of us and they did seem to want to keep us inside!) food was excellent with fresh cooked hot and great array of cold served buffet style. Refreshingly it appeared that all cereals were locally sourced which was nice.

Eating at the hotel was very expensive and quite out of kilter with the town. A poolside snack ( very small!!) lunch with drinks cost more than a sumptuous dinner with alcohol in some of the fine restaurants we visited. We only had lunch in the hotel twice - once on the day of our arrival because we were starving and although it was nice it was madly expensive ( in restaurant where we ate breakfast) and once by pool. We decided the much better option was to stroll to the numerous restaurant along the walkway and get a much greater choice and value - and a break from the sun.

All in all we thought that this was a near flawless hotel and will definitely return. You cannot be shocked at the prices it charges as it's a real 5 star hotel in every respect.

I really do think it's a hotel worth 6 stars if such a category excited.

Room Tip: We had a family so opted for ground floor rooms ( absolutely No security concerns) and got rooms 013...

My second visit to this hotel, I previously had a few criticisms, I must say the management have listened to their customers and have improved on everything that I criticised
The development of the beach area is superb, the service here and at the pool area was first class
I am looking forward to a third visit, I rarely go to the same place even twice

Room Tip: The top floors have the best views

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for visiting us again and for giving us one star more than in your last review. This means that we succeed to improve our service standards on the pool area which really makes us happy. It’s so great to here rewarding comments about our brand new Mulini Beach opened below hotel at Lone bay as well . We tried to incorporate 5* Monte Mulini standards on the MB and it’s so great to hear that we are on the right track.

We really hope to have soon the pleasure of welcoming you back for the third time

Read reviews prior to staying here and although all very good, I was even more pleased when actually visiting. All the complaints about the pool and beach area are now all wrong: Plenty of great day-bed, chairs, bean bag couches everywhere and I visited the last week of July with 100% occupancy. The check-in is smooth, the rooms and especially the bathrooms are fantastic, the restaurants, the beach and all the service is easily 5 Star! I stayed only 3 days which is not nearly enough. The spa services and the ability to use the Hotel Lone facilities make this a destination resort. Highly recommend this hotel.

- excelent location with a nice view from each room, helpful staff almost always smiling and ready to help, peacefull an quiet place but close to the historic Rovinj
- the excutive room was really spacious and elegant as well as the bathroom, the guest can use not only own hotel wellness but also the spa of Hotel Lone, connected by covered corridor You can hardly find some other beach hotel with such romantic location, but still close to resaurnts, shopping etc. It i expensive, but woth of the price

the swimmigpools are anounced as heated since may - but they did not seemed us really heated - if the weather is not so warm in spring it will be nice to have warmer water - and I am sure many guests feel the same - a lot of people on sunbeds bu only very few in the pools. Indoor poool small but warm an cosy.

Hotel Monte Mulini is maybe half a mile along the waterfront from the centre of Rovinj but that ensures that it is away from the town's bustle - my wife and I like it peaceful. The reception area, as well as the dining rooms and lounge areas have an amazing view across a beautiful little bay.

Our stay there was great - if we go to Rovinj again, we will go back to the Monte Mulini..

We spoiled ourselves to a suite which was ultra comfortable - a two storey affair. sitting room upstairs and bedroom downstairs. One drawback was that our suite was maybe 200 metres from the dining room, and another that the view from our windows towards the town was restricted by pine trees. Don't be put off by these minor faults - they did not detract from our enjoyment of the hotel and all it has to offer

We were well looked after by our chambermaid.

The one huge annoyance was that for the lack of a jack we either had a phone in the living room or a wifi connection, but not both together!
