“Lovely place to start tour of Croatia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2012

Good breakfast with lots of choice covering most diets - great home made bread and jams with local hams and cheeses. Sunny garden to eat in and harbour front a short stroll away. Free wifi and a fridge in the room which was large, quiet with roomy ensuite. Street parking available outside and lots of literature available in several languages to help make most of stay. Very helpful reception team and a lift. No swimming pool. Old town well worth making time to visit with a helpful photo tour laid out to help make the most of your camera talent.

We were told that we would get a 'cash discount' on arrival...but NOTHING ! They told us that the hotel was full (which was wrong...) to justify their 'no discount policy' !!! We paid more than 330 euros for two nights for two small rooms ! The rooms are very dirty...one thin blanket...that bathroom is terrible (no enough space to go in) !!! The breakfast is very bad ! People are rude !!!Please avoid this hotel !

We have just returned after a 2 week stay at the Vila Lili, The reception we got was great, and the room itself clean, with clean bedding and towels, all of which were changed regulary .Good location, with a pleasant walk to the harbour...these were the good bits. Bathroom Shower - small - watch for tap up bum, but big enough for length of time you spend there. Also watch out for the windows that hang over the bed, if you have them open over night as you may see stars when you get up to use the toilet during the night. Breakfast is the most interesting and wastefull meal of the day, with battered cauliflower, battered olives, meat on a stick, orange juice which was just squash, the breakfasts were over the top and way beyond what anyone in the world has for breakfast in their own homes - I feel sorry for the cook who has to prepare this food, much of which is not eaten. We stayed half board, i.e. evening meal provided (no choice as package holiday), this was an interesting experience, with breakfast left overs served for the evening meal. Portion control is out of balance, one night they served so much we could not walk for 24 hours, but we had to eat it, as Paulo took the plates and looked and commented to the kitchen what was left, it was an uncomfortable experience as it was only ourselves and another couple on half board. They should just do B&B and not half board. The hotel bar shuts at ten, we took advantage of this facility one night as we did not want to go out, at 10:15 beer was still been served by a grumpy Paulo, to a guest who had just walked in, I then asked for a drink and was refused although he was still serving after this (By the way I was sober and going home the next day), I wonder why the service dropped !! We sat out side with other guests wanting a drink, the grumpy Paulo locked up the hotel walked out slammed the gate and went home....The two main assets to the hotel are the cook who has to serve up the carnage in the morning then work out what to do with the huge amount of leftovers, and the young lady who cleans the rooms, serves coffee and basicaly works her backside off from early in the morning to late at night, with little appreciation it seems from the proprietor or the Manager. The hotel has a three star rating, but is trying to punch above it's weight, it has limited facilities, it is OK for a short break, but not for a two week holiday. It felt as if we were children, there was a strict regime - dinner at seven with a lot of shouting in the kitchen by the proprieter if you did not eat the salad, the guests we stayed with felt compelled to go to the salad bar even so as not to offend, even though they were faced with an over powering meal. If you want to be transported to the 1950's with classical music on quick replay then this hotel is for you. Paulo and the owner are akin to Mr and Mrs Faulty from Faulty Towers - well worth a visit if you do not take things to seriously....

Room Tip: Don't book the sttaic and ask for a view of the church

Our stay at Villa Lili was the most disappointing of our week in Croatia. We were charged €120 (and told that was the 'cash rate' down from €150 - perhaps for tax avoidance?) for a room crammed into the loft. The carpet in the reception area of the room had dark patches of dirt, the bedside lamps were just for show (not even able to be plugged in), the shower head wouldn't stay fixed, the shower cubicle only reached my shoulder height, and the air conditioning controller failed to function. After a bad night's sleep, discovering orange squash diluted with water passed off as orange juice was the final straw. My wife and I tried to pass this feedback onto the proprietor, but he didn't leave his phone call to say goodbye. In short, I would avoid this place.

Pleasant hotel in quiet location, easy walking distance into town. Upgraded room as standard room a bit small, all ensuites though were tiny. Amazing selection of all types of food and home cooking at breakfast buffet, and had a good value evening meal. Sadly only there for two nights.

This hotel was pretty nice. The room itself was very clean and they had already made up an extra double bed for our children, I found this to be nice because not all european hotels do this. The bed linens were very clean and comfortable. The room is small but nothing too awful(this is pretty normal in Europe), we did book a suite though and it was still very small by American standards, but it did not personally bother us, we actually enjoyed it. I do have 2 complaints about the hotel.......1 is the parking, if you park on the street it's free BUT it's difficult to park on the street because it's so small, if you park in the parking spaces then it costs you money each night. The 2nd problem I had was the bathroom, yes it was SUPER tiny(think small hallway closet size) but the main problem was the fact that their was mold in the shower AND the shower doors were broken....that was frustrating. Their breakfast buffet was PERFECT, great fresh selection and the reception was nice. Within walking distance of the town.

We came to Rovinj with no reservations made for a hotel. After a long search we found Villa Lilly. It was a little more expensive than we hoped but we had a place to stay! We wanted to stay two nights, this could be arranged only if we moved the second day to another room (not a problem for us).
The first room smelled like mold. This smell came from the bathroom (wich is very small). The second night the air-con didnt work properly wich resulted in a hot and sleeples night.
The breakfast in the hotel looks a little bit chaotic but is delicious.

When we wanted to check out and pay the hotel we were asked to pay a larger amount than we had discused the first day. After a little discussion we were back on the old amount of money. Afterwards we also had to pay for the parkingplace of wich the receptionist had told us the first day it was free!!
