What a surprise to find that there was no admission charge on the day we were there. I'm not sure if this is always the case. Also can't figure out why, on a Saturday afternoon the place was empty. Beautifully laid out, first you walk through gardens, and soon come across parrots which then leads you to all sorts of other South American animals. After coming off a Galapagos tour one feels that having these animals not exactly in their natural setting is very wrong, however, they were nice to look at. The jungle unwinds into a few colonial buildings and then to herb and vegetable gardens. It was a great place to spend an hour or two, while outside it feels cooler amongst the foliage. warning:we did find it very mosquito invested;take bug spray.
