Malecon 2000 is a boaardwalk along the Guayas River. Safety is a priority with security at entrances to the Malecon 2000 where there are monuments, shops, restaurants, museums, IMAX theater, and garden. Recommend taking stairs to the garden where there are many varieties of plants, including cactus, ducks, stream, and Victorian restaurant.

They have definitely cleaned up the Malecon on Guayaquil. They now include a lovely garden area, movie theatre and sculptures as you walk along the waterfront.

There is a bit of shopping along the way and nice benches to sit and enjoy the view as the brown lumpy water moves past you.

The area around the Malecon can be a bit dodgy so beware of your surroundings and try to avoid traveling alone.

Nice place in the city cener by the water. Lot of entertainment and places to visit. Safe place. You will meet not only tourists. More local people visit this place. Had a little snack at the Resaca-Restaurant.

Had to do a quick walk down to the Malecon 2000 before we were off to the Galapagos Islands.
Everything was very clean and all the plants looked well cared for. I will include some photos of local buildings that we saw along the quick walk from the hotel to the water.
If time had been available, we would have spent more time walking along the broad walk and around the city.

This braodwalk along the river is a nice palce to take a stroll.
Several restaurants, and a small shoppingcenter.
Don't forget to visit the miniture museum of historical Guayquil, located at the end of the Malecon 2000
