“What a wonderful world”

We don't put reviews on tripadvisor often, but for this nice and cozy hotel we felt that we needed to share our nice experiences here with others..
The one thing we would like to put focus on, is the staff and owners. They are without a doubt the most friendly we've witnessed in Ecuador. Lieva and Freddy (the owners) gave us good advice about Otavalo (where to go, nice secret walks that aren't in tourist guides, events that are going on in neighboring villages, ...), and on top of that, they helped us plan the next 12 days around Ecuador (it turns out he worked years as a guide in Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru, and she travelled almost the entire world).
What they meant for us is truly exceptional.

So apart from that, it's also well situated (1 min walking to Otavalo's main square), has a very nice breakfast (I went every day for the fresh fruit yoghurt mix with self-made muesli, phenomenal..), hammocks to chill and a nice little garden full of flowers.
Our room was cozy, clean and had its own bathroom and toilet. The way it's painted is according to how it originally was, so many years ago. It gives you a special feeling.

Next time we're in Ecuador, we're definitely going back.

Enjoy everybody!

For one of the more affordable places we have stayed this place was fantastic. We had a private room and shared bath. Our room was spacious with lots of natural light and spaces for our things. The numerous common areas were all great. A spacious kitchen. A tv room. A courtyard with hanging hammock chairs. And then the garden area in the middle of the rooms was filled with gorgeous flowers I kept trying to capture in photograph.

Though our room wasn't cleaned during our 2 night stay (not a big deal) the common areas, including bathrooms, were spotless. The shared bathrooms had two separate areas for men and women each with two toilets and two showers. The only awkward part was that there wasn't much of a place to change after showering as the door to the bathroom area was tiny and didn't offer any visual barrier for those on the other side of the bathroom area (for me it was the men's side).

The breakfast was not included but though standard, great. We split the breakfast of the house and it included coffee (or tea), juice, bread, eggs, and yogurt with fruit and a bit of granola for $4.

Though our welcome wasn't more than showing us our room (leaving us to roam to find the bathrooms, kitchen area, etc) the staff was all pleasant and nice.

I wish we had more time in this charming hostel as it was one of our favorites.

The place looks great both inside and out, it is located in a very central place, the staff was very friendly and the fruit juices are spectacular. I had an awesome time during New Year's and can't wait to return.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. It was very comfortable if a little noisy in the morning with traffic noise. It was clean; the linen on our bed was changed three times in the 5 nights. It was very inexpensive. The kitchen was clean and we cooked a few of our own meals as the restaurant choice in Otavalo is limited. The staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are the quietest.

I really liked this place. It is beautiful, with lots of flowers and plants, the place is simultaneously inside and outside. The rooms are cozy and clean, breakfast is awesome, and all the people who work there are incredibly friendly. If stopping through Otavalo, I would definitely stay here for a great experience

I stayed at this hotel for a total of about 8 days. It was absolutely fantastic! I got to know the manager, Adriana, pretty well. She's a sweetheart. The two boys that work there, Christian and Jose, are also incredibly nice. They are very hospitable and friendly. In terms of the rooms - I was amazed to see that the rooms were so big, the beds were nearly equivalent to a full-size in the US, and each room had its own bathroom. My bathroom even had a skylight! Depending on where the room was, there could be more or less street noise, but all the rooms were really nice, comfortable and peaceful. The inside of the hotel, especially the indoor and back patios were beautiful - full of flowers, hammocks and sunshine. The breakfast served at the hotel was great - some versions came with a lot of food, healthy too. I especially liked the natural fruit juices. The hotel was located in an ideal place - easily accessing the central part of the city (1 block from the central plaza), but still quiet enough to be peaceful. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the quieter rooms, in the back.

I was floored to see how incredible my room was, the bright colors and large windows were a treat for my girlfriends and I. The showers we clean and the breakfast was delicious and water safe to drink. There is free wifi too!
Absolutely wonderful.
