“Fabulous place to stay”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

My family of 4 stayed at Casa Mojanda for three nights in late March 2013 and loved every minute. The rooms and grounds are beautiful and furnished with a great eye for detail. The food - much of it grown in the organic garden right outside the kitchen - is truly exceptional. And the staff couldn't have been nicer. I came home with several recipes for the amazing soups they served at each dinner. (Make sure you have an afternoon snack of popcorn, served with fried garlic and onions.) The hot tub is a great experience - no chemicals! The market town of Otavalo is a quick, $4 taxi ride away. There are llamas on the property, and Mojanda offers horseback riding and hiking trips. There are great hikes to dormant volcanoes/crater lakes nearby.
One note: You'll need to bring your own shampoo.

Private cabins, excellent food (mostly vegetarian and organically grown), warm, caring service--and a large, well-organized library, miles above the usual handful of books left behind by previous guests--make this quiet spot a great getaway. There's an outdoor hot tub and a viewing room full of DVDs. If you like horseback riding, they can provide mounts and a guide. Hiking is another option, and a separate space is dedicated to yoga and various New Age practices. You'll need a car or cab to get into Otavalo.

Room Tip: Since each cabin is private, they're all good choices.

Everything about Casa Mojanda was great. The food was simply delicious, the staff was lovely and so helpful and the location in the Andes was spectacular, incredible views in every direction. The close proximity to Otovalo and other towns was great for sightseeing and getting a sense of the local culture.
Hope to return one day soon!

Casa Mojanda is beautiful. quiet and peaceful The staff is so nice, providing for every comfort, including laying a fire in our fireplace! The kitchen staff provides varied and excellent meals, we even requested and got cuy (yummy!), and some of the best locally grown coffee we have ever had! They helped arrange for a wonderful traditional band, and we danced, plus a naturalist guide for our group, and he was great!

Room Tip: We had #10, with a kitchen and fireplace! But I think each had their charms.

We had a delightful 4 nights at Casa Mojanda. Katherine, the manager, got us settled in and made sure all our needs were met. We rode their wonderful Peruvian Pasos into the surrounding farmlands and we also hiked up at the Mojanda Lakes. Betty & Diego, the owners, are gracious hosts and were so helpful with our trip planning. They set up transfers from Quito to Casa Mojanda and had guides for all our activities. The hot tub was a relaxing way to end the day overlooking Cotacachi Volcano.

Room Tip: We were in room #10 and it had all the space one would need to really stretch out. Views were excep...

It was a very nice and friendly place to stay with the family. The food was good (its an all included place), the attention personalized and they even have a little library where guest have free access. We look forward to visit the place again.

We stayed here for 5 nights in October of 2011. The manager is very friendly and a helpful resource for activities in the local area. The rooms were like small cottages and were very clean. We returned from dinner each night to a roaring fire in the fireplace. We did a tour of the local artesian villages and took some walks around the area. The only drawback is the location....it is a long hike from town up a steep road....best to take a taxi. The remoteness can be a benefit but also a drawback if you want to be closer to town. Overall, would highly recommend it.
