“Little slice of heaven!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

This place made us feel right at home, from their Maggie Pizza to their sweet little pup named Pacha. The rooms are spaceous, clean and have great water pressure and temperature (as we toured around Ecuador, this lacked in a lot of the places we stayed). The grounds are beautifully groomed and inviting. Even the lounge felt like home with a big fire place, comfy couches and a walk-up bar. The prices are very reasonable for this little slice of heaven, you must check it out. We even extended our stay, becuase it was just perfect for us and conveniently located near the textile market. The staff will definatly take care of you here, so plan to get spoiled! The art work is also wonderful and for sale, so don't be afriad to ask how much, VERY reasonable price as well (as 100% of the profit goes back to the artist) and most of it was created by local artist. This place has so much character, you would be missing out if you came to Otavalo and didn't stay here.

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor right off the lounge/restaurant and it was perfect for early/late walk...

This is quite a belated review but one that I have been meaning to write sine my Mum and I visited in March. The hotel itself is lovely with pretty gardens, nice simple rooms and a good atmosphere. We stayed two nights and I will just highlight the three things that stood out to us as the best bits of this hotel.

Firstly, it is close to the market for shopping. However, it is also close to the livestock market which is a great cultural experience and should not be missed. We got up early, took in the sights of the livestock market and then returned to the hotel for breakfast.

Secondly, the menu at the hotel was great with lots of variety and even vegan options. Breakfast was nice but best of all was the pudding 'deep dish cookie'- we ate one on the big sofa in front of the fire two nights in a row! It was so good- not yet managed to recreate it despite many attempts since returning home to the UK.

Thirdly, the owner was very friendly and seemed to appreciate any feedback about the hotel that we could offer. We also got a sense that she was involved locally and trying to support the nearby communities. There are variety of things on offer like cooking courses which would have interested us if we had more time. We also arranged a car to and from the hotel and were provided with a very nice, safe driver and vehicle.

Wonderful place to stay and explore Otavalo- We would have stayed longer if we could!

La Posada del Quinde is a stunning hotel - not too big, not too small - with a very warm and truly welcoming ambience...right down to the ever-present fire in the lounge area (which we were truly grateful for after a particularly wet hike!). Incredibly authentic (the décor is all from local artisans, and is all for sale!), from the moment you step through the large wooden doors you simply breath a sigh of relief. YOU have arrived. There is nothing more to do than put your bags away and relax - whether on the terrace, with it's beautiful outdoor furniture (teak, I believe), or in the warm and inviting lounge area (where if you aren't careful, you just might fall asleep - basking in the sun as it comes through the lovely large windows...and you know what, that'd be o.k., because that's the kind of place Maggie has created!). Or you can stroll through the gardens, trying to identify all the spectacular plants they have or spot the elusive parrot that has recently taken up residence in the garden.

While there is no pool or weight facility present, you don't need one, because Maggie has those bases covered, too. Upon check-in, guests are provided a terrific map of the area, complete with local places of interest (like some awesome hikes - who needs a gym?!). And perhaps the best part is the fact that you can order a picnic lunch - so you don't have to worry about cutting your hike short to make it back for a meal!

The rooms at La Posada del Quinde were very spacious and beautifully decorated. There was plenty of space to not only pull everything out of our backpacks, but to store it on shelves, too! The bed was comfortable, and we slept very soundly. The showers were INCREDIBLE! Not only were they the hottest we experienced in ALL of Ecuador, but they had amazing water pressure, too!

We had such an exceptional time at La Posada del Quinde that we canceled another stop on our journey - just to stay another night. Hands down, this was absolutely the best money we spent in all of the traveling we did on mainland Ecuador. We booked based on some reviews we read on Trip Advisor, and we could not agree more - La Posada del Quinde is by far the BEST place to stay - not only in Otavalo, but in Ecuador!

Room Tip: Suzy, the hotel manager, is very kind and proficient. When booking/making a reservation online, just...

We recently stayed 2 nights at this very nice hotel a short walk from the centre of Otovalo. We loved the cosy atmosphere of the public space (a log fire was lit every night) and the staff were warm and welcoming. Maggie, the owner, was on hand with good advice on places to go and efficiently organised transport to/from Quito.

The room was a good size, with a nice shower with great water pressure. The room also had a space heater if it got chilly at night (and hot water bottles were also available). We did not miss the lack of a TV! We slept well and heard no noise from the road.

Breakfast was included, with a decent choice of included and optional items. We ate dinner in the restaurant on the first night and it was a nice meal. The garden is a very lovely place to enjoy a sunny morning! We left regretting our stay was not longer. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel in Otavalo. The rooms surround a lovely garden, so all have a garden view. Rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated with indigenous rugs (for sale if you are interested). The staff was very nice and helpful. The restaurant was good (one of the better in town), and one night featured live Andean music. Very nice breakfasts are included- fresh juice, fruit, coffee, eggs. Plaza des Ponchos is 3-4 blocks away.

Room Tip: All equally good.

We recently stayed at the hotel and were very pleased with the warm ambience and homey feel of the whole place. The lobby, which is a combination dining and lounging area, is warm and inviting, with what seems to be a continuous fire in the fireplace, lots of local artisan items on the walls and friendly and helpful staff, not the least of whom is Maggie, the priopietor, who is most helpful and a real cheerleader for the area and surrounding environs. The garden is lovely and filled with birds and flowers. Our only regret was that our stay there was so short.

We stayed here as part of a "package" and were extremely pleased with the accommodations. Upon checking in, we changed our room due to desiring a different bedding choice and they were more than willing to make things correct for our needs. The first night we ate there as we were just too tired to go out and find another place to eat. The food was very good and we decided to eat there the second night as well. Every one seemed very accommodating to our needs and wants. Maggie was extremely welcoming and helpful. My husband is gluten intolerant and Maggie made certain that each morning there were gluten free (Quinoa) pancakes for him to eat. The regular menu also had that option. During our stay, there was a baptism party across the street from the Posada. The party was extremely LOUD--louder than ear plugs could stop. The staff was willing to have us sleep in a different room for the night. The following night, all was quiet. The grounds are very nice and offer a sense of calm. It almost seems like an oasis and hard to believe you are in the midst of the town. The location is @ 2-3 blocks from the market and this makes getting there on foot easy as well as bringing back wonderful purchases and then going back for more. It is also far enough from the market to not pick up the noise. As I mentioned as well as others, every one there was trying as hard and they could to make certain that all things were taken care of and that everything was right with your stay. There are also art work on the walls from local artists which are for sale.We had an issue with wanting to change a time a guide would show up and the front desk made numerous (!) calls to try to remedy this for us. This was something they did not have to do however, they willing did it to help out. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Perhaps a room not on the street.
