“Lunch at Las Palmeras Inn”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2013

Beautiful property and quite a surprise off the beaten path. We stopped for a prearranged lunch on a tour of Otavalo. Lunch served in Sala Cuy with a fire in the fireplace. Traditional Ecuador style potato soup, beef with veggies, fresh squeezed juice and dessert. Gardens are beautiful. Three resident greeters of the four-legged kind wearing bows and sweaters. A nice midday break

Beautiful hotel just outside Otavalo. Rooms are in separate cottages, each with a fireplace where a fire is set to spark in the evening. Rooms and dining halls are finely furnished and decorated with frescoes, paintings, and nice ornaments. The property is in a beautiful garden, in fact a park. Very pleasant, ideal for some relax, close to Otavalo as well as to the mountains.

We could not book into Hacienda Cusin and they referred us to Las Palmeras Inn. What luck ! Las Palmeras has a great location - walking distance to Otavalo, but outside the hustle of town. The grounds are beautiful, the cottages are perfect with their nightly fires in each cottage. The cottages are clean and very spacious, with sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. I even has a small terrace looking onto the grounds. Fantastic. The staff were incredibly helpful and answered all of my constant questions with charming smiles. The staff arranged for us to go horse riding at Cusin. I enjoyed Las Palmeras Inn's easy access into Otavalo, the cottages, the helpful staff and the tranquility of the setting.

I would stay here again.

Room Tip: The cottages are perfect

We stayed for 4 nights while exploring the Otavalo/Cotacachi area and found the staff very helpful and accommodating. The hacienda is away from the noise and crowds of the city center, but just a short $3.00 taxi ride to the textile market. The gardens are well planned and manicured, the rooms are very private and quiet. The breakfast was excellent, and we had dinner there on most nights and found it very good quality food with a varied menu.
i would heartily recommend this cozy hotel- they even have a cheery fire burning as you return from dinner, and a hot water bottle to take the chill off the sheets. Nice touch.

Room Tip: We were in a room in a building housing 4 rooms side by side. There were charming cottages that wer...

Lovely place to stay for a couple of nights. Hotel staff light a fire in your room and put hot water bottles in your bed when you're at dinner.

The chimneys may need clearing - on the first night we had to leave our door open as the room had filled with smoke!! Luckily the beds are in a different room from the lounge area where the fireplace is.

Nice hotel but next time we'd probably stay closer to town as the restaurant here is very expensive and there is little choice of what to eat.
This hotel is very close to the animal market which is much more interesting than the main otavalo market

Situated just out of Otavalo town, this hidden gem of a hacienda has beautifully manicured gardens and has fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. We stayed here for one night and the staff member helped set the fireplace running. The room was huge, well maintained and hot water bottles were provided to warm the people up. The sleep quality was excellent. The shower was hot enough, and the washroom was clean. They have a few novels in the room and sitting in those comfy wooden chairs while reading those books besides the fireplace. Priceless.

Wi-fi works only in the reception area and they have 1 computer for the guests to use for free and the speed was quite good.
The only downside was the reception indicated that the dinner would be served from 7-9 pm but the staff were trying to close the kitchen before 8 PM and packing to go out. We barely could squeeze vegetable sandwiches in time (very nice but little on the high side). They have almost no dishes for a vegetarian except a sandwich and a salad. The next day morning breakfast was excellent (fruit salad, bread, juice etc). I would have given this a 5 star if not for the earlier night dinner fiasco.

We loved Las Palmeras, tucked away from the maddening crowd, in an idyllic Andean setting. The staff were super friendly and attentive. In the evenings they laid a fire for us in our little "cottage" and slipped hot water bottles into the bed to take some of the chill off the sheets. We recommend it highy!
