We stayed at the Tiranan for 10 days form the 1st May to the 10th May. Overall we had an absolutely fabulous time. From start to finish the hotel staff in particular made the holiday.
We arrived to a cocktail being presented to us in reception, and very polite reception staff and concierge who took our bags and got the delivered to our rooms promptly, which was great as there are no lifts in the hotel. We had room 2108, which was a ground floor pool view room, which had a terrace space and also was directly at the back of the water park, so great location. We did have a few problems with the mosquitos which bit of lots of times, but this is not the hotels fault. I am not sure if being on the bottom floor helped.. Although they do fumigate the pool and hotel every night. The room was clean and the towels replenished every day. The only gripe was that our door didn't lock very well, and was actually left open by a cleaner one day. Although one of the maintenance men, noticed and knocked on the door which was very kind, and shut it for us. The shower was large, and the air con was great too, not noisy at all.
The pools in the Tirana are really something special and there is a loud pool where the music is played, and also burgers and hotdogs are served from 1-5pm in case you didnt get up for breakfast! There is also a great swim up bar there which Mahmoud kept us with constant drinks all day!
There is also two beautiful quiet pools, which we prefered, but we only went to the on the last day. Which also has a swim up bar and a view over the loud pool. We found the drinks/cocktails to be a little less strong here so easier to drink!
The animation team are very good and take you out in trips to the nightclubs in the evening. We went out to Pacha and the Little Buddha, which were great fun. I would definitely recommend Pacha! Nicola, Luca and Heman were the best out the team, they new as we wanted to relax in the day, not to push us into doing some of the activities, when we didn't want to in the end. The waterpark is also very safe and fun, we enjoyed going there a lot. There are so many slides! Also there is a wave pool, though we didn't get to try it!
Ahmed who worked for Sokar Tours, was fantastic too, he booked us onto the quad biking and star gazing trip which was really great experience. I would recommend it to anyone! He also gave us some local information about sharm and the surrounding areas. He was also very welcoming, and we enjoyed having many conversations with him!
The food for all inclusive was excellent, and we didn't have any problems finding any thing, Lunch was better than dinner I thought, and there was a theme every day! They alway had live cooking in the middle, with another pasta station at the end. There was even some days they had a barbeque outside, which chicken and fish. Which was alway lovely. The best was pasta day, which they had many lovely pastas. They always had salads and fruit and a large selection of desserts too. The waiters in there are lovely, and very polite, always making sure your drinks are topped up! I always had a white wine, and my husband a beer or vodka and lemonade! Shawly the waiter was excellent, he was very friendly, and was very attentive. The other restaurants were excellent also, with the Italian being the best. We went there twice in the two days. I had risotto and also a steak, which were tasty. Ok meat was a little fatty, but its all inclusive! A few tips here and there kept our drinks flowing more regular, and really made a difference wen it came to service. The chinese is also a menu al carte which has sizzling beef or chicken and was fab. The indian was also great! We didnt try the English or the Lebanese.
The Lobby Bar staff were very good also, sometime even letting you had more that two drinks in the evenings! although Huni and Queen Bee in the spice shop were super lovely and told us all about Luxor, and were lovely to speak to in the evenings.
The Beach was great also, even though there is a pretty large building site in the way of the beach, the bus is regular and it is not the hotels fault that a developer chose to build in the way of the beach. Down there is a lovely bar, and a jetty which you can snorkel off. MY MY the fish down there and coral is amazing, and you need to see it! We also did the snorkelling trip, and this was a highlight of our trip. My husband did diving and I did snorkelling, and it is the most amazing sight I have ever seen! The fish are spectacular!
We also went to Luxor to see Valley of the kings and also the Luxor Temples, and there was no trouble at all, and well worth the trip out of Sharm! We did get hassled a little bit to buy souvenirs, but the people in egypt are feeling the lack of tourists, and I wasn't surprised. A firm no is sufficient. I would recommend anyone going on the trip! It was expensive, but if you go to Egypt, you need to go and see Egypt!
One one think that lets the hotel down is the location, but we quickly made friends with Rio the taxi driver who escorted us to Soho and other places when we needed him. He was very polite and gave us a few tips about Sharm and Egypt too! He was always there when we wanted to return from Soho etc, and made us feel welcome!
The surrounding areas in sharm look very derelict with most of hotel not finished, and I was quite shocked at the look of sharm in the day. Rocks and building sites seem to be present everywhere, and there is no where to walk from the hotel. But, the hotel and the staff are so good that we didn't eat out once in the ten days we were there, and didn't feel the need to go out the much either in the days, so what does it matter. That is the first time I have ever done that, and I have been on holidays all over the world.
We paid £420 for 10 days each, and you cannot fault it for the price. The weather was also great, topping at 42 degrees!
The highlight of our trip is the staff however, they really are diamonds to the hotel. The hotel is truly beautiful also, but the staff shine through! We will be returning very soon, with no doubt!! :)
