“Nice holiday but food a huge let down!!”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Arrived on 30th june for 2 week stay.first room on ground floor which i requested a higher floor.got moved straight away toa higher floor.room only had 2 single beds.asked for 2 more beds which never arrived.had to push the 2 singles together as our 2 children were exhausted.next morning went to reception to ask for 2 extra beds which they semt 2 camp beds which were like rock.explained to joanne guest relations that not suitable as my daughter has bad back and needed a proper bed.in all fairness she got us a room with double bed but once again the camp beds were no good to us and room was on ground floor which i didnt want.so they bought us a proper bed for my daughter.so we ended up with 3 singles pushed together.we asked for a upgrade to family 1 room before arriving at hotel via email and was told the we had been upgraded so had to pay an extra €168.which at the time we didnt mind as joanne took us to see a standard room and it wouldnt have struggled with 2 adults in.so we happily payed it,but after chatting to numerous people we were told they had also booked standard rooms and they were in exactly the same block as us and payed no extra.we went and querried this with the hotel supervisor who told us we had upgraded.and to phone our tour operater when we get home.which is what iv done.dond mind paying for upgrade on room but why are other people paying for standard room when we had to pay?????
HOTEL
Hotel was absolutly huge and is very understaffed.pools are clean and very big.and animation team were lovely especially rebecca, elsiea and niaomi.they work such long hours and are lovely girls.our room was cleaned every day but found the more we tipped the less we got in towel art.our room had an amazing view of the noisy pool but needs updating as its looking shabby.clean but shabby.the hotel is in the middle of now where and we payed over £120 on taxis as there was nothing to do after dinner at night as entertainment was rubbish in the evening.plus pool closes at 5pm and so do bars so only place for the huge hotel to grt a drink from after 5 was the lobby bar.so you can imagine the ques.the lobby also smells of stale milk and sick.really awful.
FOOD
Where do i start........ it was ok at breakfast and lunch as you eat in the italian with the english.food wasnt the best but the staff were amazing especially marjory lovely lady.quality wasnt the best and was luke warm instead of hot.and flys everywhere.not great.but at dinner at 7pm you have to eat downstairs with the russions.....oh my god..its like a cattle market!!!!!! The food is disgusting.all for tbe russians.they push past you.they are sooooooo rude.they pile there plates so high then leave it.they spoilt it for me.food is inedible.just terrible.rest of our stay we had a la carte as i couldnt eat the slop downstairs.italian and chinese were lovely....indian was very hot...lebanese was disgusting and english ok.we also had to pay for food and eat out as my children stuggled to eat.

All in all we had a great holiday meet some lovely people but would never return to this hotel.top issue was the food..you shouldnt have to go all inclusive and pay to eat out!!!! Second issue the location just too out of the way for us.hasnt put me off egypt though.

TO THE MANAGMENT.
This hotel has the potential to be amazing!!! The food needs to be looked at big time!! Also if you want bristish guests to return year after year treat them the same as the russians.we pay the same money......so should be treated equally.they are left to get away with pushing in and shouting at english guests.you need a queing system or us hard working brits as we wont return to be abused by rude russian guests

My Partner, 3 kids & I stayed here from the 1st July - 8th July.
I can't fault the place for value, other than the food I felt was average at best.
Book in to A la Carte restaurants on arrival, as they get booked fast. we had to wait 3 days before being able to get in.
The Kids had a wonderful time with the slides etc and the place was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, in particular Siad & Haitham at the main pool Bar were great and went out of their way to be helpful, thanks guys.
All in all we had a great time and obviously the weather was great.
Would recommend for a 4 star experience and good value.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter area of the complex get a room in the 3000's or ask to be near the Spa

Stayed here for 14 nights over Christmas in 2010. It was a fantastic hotel, and the slides make it a fantastic place for kids. Fortunately, the hotel workers weren't creepy as they are sometimes known to be in Egypt. They were all very friendly and easy to approach. We also met a friend there, Micheal, and his pet tortoise, Alex who made sand designs and was THE nicest person I've ever met.
The food is great, as our the rooms, all luxury and well furnished. We experienced one of our most memorable Christmas' here. In the morning we got up opened our presents, and went and got breakfast. Santa came and every person in the hotel got a present which was cute (even if it was just a plastic macarena). For the rest of the day, it was firmly normal and I had a hot dog and fries for dinner, not your normal meal on Christmas day. However, at night (at an extra cost) they had this MASSIVE marquee set out. To enter, you went through a red carpet and watched a nativity set. Inside, there were thousands of fairy lights dangling from the ceiling and the food and entertainment was great.
The only thing i can complain about (and laugh about) is the fact that it rained none stop for around 3 days. Obviously, the hotel wasn't built for rain so it started to collapse in a lot of places and there was no electricity however we were entertained by the hotel workers dancing as they swiped up the rain as they'd never seen it before haha. The downside was we couldn't go in any of the pools for the rest of our holiday because they were green and manky.

I really recommend this hotel, especially at Christmas.

Room Tip: pool view is a good choice

Myself and my partner stayed for 7 nights in this hotel in July, its perfect for a relaxing break away in the sun as the weather is always boiling hot! although we did struggle for find a sun bed unless we got up really early. The Russians are an absolute nightmare!! rude and abrupt, this would put me off returning to the hotel. Food was ok, nothing special, we ate out most nights.
Animation team are fantastic! one of the best things about the hotel, always friendly and willing to help you out. Elsia and Rebecca got us involved in activities and are doing a great job! lovely girls :) made our time much more enjoyable. The hotel is good value for money, although it doesn't have the WOW factor.

My Husband and myself returned to the Tirana at the beginning of May for the 5th time, always grab a quick week at the beginning of the year, guaranteed sunshine and excellent service at the Tirana, over the visits we have made some great friends with the Staff, who treated us like royalty, not for tips, purely because of respect to each other, whether at the beach or by the pool they cannot do enough, other people we met were overwhelmed with the care and attention we received. Some of the views are unfair, comments on the food, well, IT IS A FOREIGN COUNTRY, that means FOREIGN FOOD, they say they couldn't eat it, well if you eat Macci D's etc you should be able to eat anything! Stomach upsets, the heat etc, change of diet, people drinking the tap water, all contribute, expect it in any foreign Country! Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but some ought to think long and hard before commenting, as for the Russians, that is not the Hotels fault - business and all that, they are a breed unto themselves, treat them the way they treat you, they soon realise who the winners are!!! We will be returning next April for our yearly jaunt, do admit, we do have a good laugh at some reviews, with the spelling etc..... class!!! Keep on with the improvements and good work Tirana, see you again soon.................

I really don't understand what people complaining about this hotel expect for their money. You try and find a hotel in England where you can stay all inclusive for £30 per couple per night. I think you will find it is not possible. We stayed for 11 nights in July.
The hotel is spotless, the staff are very friendly, nothing is to much trouble for them and they are a credit to the hotel. We stayed during Ramadan most of the hotel staff were fasting but still managed to work an 11 hour day with a smile on their face.
The food is edible, I am a fussy eater but never went hungry and did not have to send out for McDonalds! The restaurants are very good and the service and food can't be faulted.
Yes there are Russians at the hotel some of whom are rude and push in. However the same can be said for some of the English guests who did nothing but complain about everything.
The water park is excellent, you get bottled water in your room everyday. The pop is sprite, coke and fanta. The beer and spirits are ok and the ice cream was nice. You could pretty much eat all day until 22.00hrs if you wanted to and there is a varied selection.
If you want luxury, pay to stay in a luxury hotel. If you want a holiday that's great value, with friendly staff in a clean hotel. You won't go far wrong here.

hi, we just got back from here, stayed 10 nights 30 june to 11 july, on arrival we got welcome drinks then was shown quickly to our rooms which was pool view ground floor which we asked for, rooms was spotless and couldnt fault them. we was told to go down to the main restaurant for something to eat, well what can i say, choice of chips or pasta in what looked like milk, we assumed this was because it was late but tbh the food didnt improve much for our whole stay, the only restaurant i would recomend is the italian, downstairs main restaurant was like a cattle market, long queues in a morning and ignorant russians queue hopping, breakfast was good upstairs but lunch and dinner was a let down, we ate out most of the time, indian, english and lebanese restaurant was buffet style so if u wasnt first in the queue u ended up with nothing, chinese and italian was a la carte, chinese consisted off 2 choices, italian was the only one that was edible. free shuttle bus to the beach every 15 min, anywhere else i would advise u walk out the hotel and get ur own as we was charged £20 FOR 6 on a shuttle bus with other passengers to go into namma bay. Staff was friendly, very under staffed in the bars, which meant long queues , entertainment on a night ??? none ! u either sat upstairs in the main lobby or went out,all in all the hotel was great but the food and lack of staff lets it down big time, definately go to egypt again but stay closer to shops and bars as it cost a fortune to go out every night and eat
