Reviewed 5 June 2014

We have recently returned from the Rixos after a 10 day holiday with our 3 daughters (25,22,13).
We booked on recommendation of friends and were not disappointed. We enjoyed every aspect of our break. As has been said many times in other reviews the staff were brilliant and really did make our stay feel special. Staff to highlight for us were Shawky ("Shouty") and Amr at the Lagoon Pool Bar, Fred and Redar in the Tiran Island Beach Bar and Mohammad who served us breakfast most mornings at Nefertiti and popped up a few times at the World of Cuisine ! A final thanks for the Arabic lessons, thrashing at chess and general dance moves of Kamba (entertainment team top man).

We also went on a boat trip booked via Ahmed of the Pyramids company. We struck up a good daily conversation with him and he certainly had to work hard to get us signed up... The trip was great and we shared the boat with a couple of lovely families as promised by him (hi Helen H !)

We preferred the peace and quiet of the Lagoon Pool and the great service from the guys previously mentioned.

Lunchtimes were split between "Tides Beach Snack" and food from the pool bar.

In the evenings we enjoyed the various entertainment, beach discos and a family game of cards at the beach bar. Loved the golf buggy rides home in the dark !

The food options suited us all and we felt there was plenty of variety and it was of good quality.

Rooms in block 4 were well appointed and for us having a family all over 12 great to be close to the Nefertiti Buffet. The grounds throughout the hotel were kept immaculate with a team of people working on them every day.

Overall a fantastic holiday, great weather and one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in on our journeys. Thoroughly recommended by us all.

We came back to the Rixos between 9th and 16th May 2014 having been last year when it had just been taken over. Our view of the Rixos this time is that it just wasn't quite as good as we remembered. We were very kindly upgraded by the hotel when we arrived to a deluxe room in block 3, around the main pool. These rooms are lovely and spacious and we found the beds really comfortable but unfortunately, we had to be asked to be moved after the first night because of the noise from families around us. We were also next to a staircase and heard people climbing them at all hours and I don't think we ever got over an hour of uninterupted sleep. The reception staff were very accommodating with moving us and our new room was in block 4. The view was not very good, overlooking some waste ground but that did not matter if we had a good night's sleep. However, it was not to be. I would stress that this is not the hotel's fault but the fault of inconsiderate guests but our view of the holiday was clearly marred by this experience. During our last visit, we were in block 16 where we had no problems so we were obviously just unlucky this time. There is nothing really to fault about this hotel but I think we have decided it's just not for us. I think for us, as a couple with no children, it was just a bit too much full of families and loud music. We have been visiting Egypt at least twice a year for the past 12 years and we now have a good idea of what we like and we don’t. The food in this hotel is excellent and we particularly appreciated the adults only buffet. I did suffer with a ridiculously bad stomach from day 2 until I returned home and despite getting all sorts of tablets and antibiotics almost immediately from the chemist across the road, this continued throughout the holiday. Again, this is not something that we experienced during our last visit but I accept you take your chances in Egypt.

The food in all the al a carte restaurants was excellent but our experience in the fish restaurant and sitting at the beach bar was marred by the loud dance music coming from the beach party which takes place twice a week. I appreciate that some people enjoy this, but it's just not for us. We found a quiet spot during the day by the Romantic pool and this was wonderful. The service at the lagoon pool bar was also great, with Samir literally working his socks off. All the staff were once again wonderful and it is refreshing to be served cold beer and imported spirits. The guys at the beach bar were fabulous and a special mention to Ronaldo lookalike Mahmood at the Italian and Zodiac restaurant who remembered us from our last visit and could not do enough for us. This hotel, as the responses from management have said, is a massive hotel and they have to try and cater for all tastes and nationalities. This, they do well and I can‘t fault them. The buffet food is good, there are many a la cartes, there are several pools where you can escape the families and loud music and the customer service is great. However, you couldn't entirely escape it all the time (even at 3am...) and it's for this reason that we maybe wouldn't go back. From an objective view, there is no criticism of the hotel except maybe to put couples away from families and the fact that a lot of the sunbeds are quite uncomfortable in that they don’t lay flat but I rely heavily on Trip Advisor reviews when I choose my hotel and I would want to read my review if I were a similar kind of person thinking of going to this hotel for the first time.

Room Tip: I think the deluxe rooms are also classed as "family rooms". Bear in mind you may be surr...

This hotel is a real credit to sharm. The staff are the best that I have come across. From Megan with her quick response to emails, shawky at the lagoon bar always serving with a smile, remembering what we wanted to drink - (12 of us) and farouk on the entertainment team always saying hello and making our children feel very welcome. These members of your team should be recognise for having such pride in their jobs and working for your hotel.
Hotel rooms are very nice, we had a family room which was clean, very well maintain and the cleaner made great effort with the towel art.
Hotel was only 40% full which was lovely for us to have so much space, no over crowding.
If you are going to this hotel you will not be disappointed. Treat the staff with the respect that they deserved, they work very hard to make you stay enjoyable.

Just returned from the rixos on our family holiday with our six year old daughter, amazing hotel and ammenities. The staff were great and could not be more helpful.
The al a carte restaurants are serving some of the best food i've had and the buffet is ok too.
My only real gripe is with the slides pool and people swimming in it, its a slides pool and should be used for that only, some adults are coming out of those slides at great speed and one day someone WILL get injured in the pool. When I mentioned it to the lifeguard he said "no one listens to me" so I mentioned it at reception and was told "we cant really do much because we can not upset the guests" so this is my only small issue on an otherwise perfect weeks holiday

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Rixos. The holiday was booked as a treat for us to celebrate my 50th birthday and our silver wedding anniversary so we traveled as a family with our girls age 20 and 17 years.
The hotel was fabulous and easily met all of our expectations. From the welcome at reception, the size of the rooms, the hospitality from all of the staff and the quality of the food.
I often believe that it is wrong to pick out staff for a special mention as the service received is often dependent on those operating in the background but on this occasion I will make an exception. The animation team were fabulous, friendly and worked tirelessly. For the fun and antics we thank you. Also Mr Why Aymen at the pool bar deserves a special mention, at no point during your stay is there a risk of being dehydrated and he makes an excellent punch! My daughter, Sarah, would like to say a special thank you for all of her non alcoholic cocktails.
All in all a special treat full of very special memories. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort and will return in the future.

It's absolutely true, this hotel has got it all and our stay was exceptional from the moment we arrived to when we left.

We stayed in a family room at ground floor level, these rooms are superbly located close to all amenities and reception. The resort is vast so we were delighted!

Food in the A la Carte restaurants is excellent, good choice and great service, although the Egyptian and Italian do stand out.

Drinks quality is exceptional, branded and local can be offered but you simply state your preference. The lagoon swim up bar was our preferred venue and Shawky and Amr made sure we were well looked after and entertained. Thanks both!

The pools are great, safe and staffed again by caring and attentive staff who will do anything for you, even regularly cleaning your sunglasses without being prompted!

There is a rapport around all bars and all guests constantly sing the praises of the Rixos. It sounds boring but as I have titled this review..........

The only fault is the WiFi quality, but we are assured this will be resolved.

Finally thanks to Bella and Kelly two of the most helpful Customer Relations team I have met.

One other thing for certain us we will return very soon.

Thanks to ALL at Rixos.
