“second visit, fab time, will go back soon”
Reviewed 22 January 2013

Love this hotel, second visit, looking to return in september. Extra special as a returning guest, we requested a pool side room and got the best placed one and a fruit platter in our room. Perfect room, great staff all over the hotel, so friendly, will do anything for you! Some of them even remembered us from our first visit and welcomed us back. Great restaurants, the main buffet has a great selection to suit all, the a la cartes are lovely, asian and american, u get one visit to each per week. Water park was great fun, even though we left our kids at home this time. Could not get my husband off flo rider. Can highly recommend the Hard Rock Cafe which just opened across the street, food fab and great atmosphere. Beach only 5 minute walk across the road.

Room Tip: ask for a ground floor pool side room.

simple went on the 14th jan 13 for a week with my wife tricia & daughter danielle.
1st impression of coral sea splash resort was OMG this is a really nice hotel and we were not disappointed, could not fault anything.
the food was nice but if anything we thought there was not enough choice, although went to the asian restaurant and again OMG best curry i have ever tasted.
rooms are lovely and the towel art was great very very clean rooms and had everything you would need.
being january the hotel was not full but was still busy and there were staff everywhere to help from the pool guys to god knows how many waiters.
special mention to Mohammed & nabil the guys who worked in the pool bar by day and sports bar by night.
5 star entertaiment team great and kimo was very funny.
all in all will return asap.
ps it was roasting hot

Room Tip: there are flys and mosqitos but remember you are in africa /asia

We stayed at the CSSR 14-21 Jan 2013, and having read all the fantastic reviews on here we weren't disappointed. The rooms are very spacious, king size bed and two smaller beds for the children, plenty of wardrobe space and good size bathroom. Rooms were cleaned daily, and as everyone has mentioned fab towel art left by the cleaner - he even made my hustand a 3 tier birthday cake out of towels. The animation team are brilliant, so much fun and work so hard from early in the morning till late at night, Rachel, Cheryl, Bob, Kemo, Luke, Zoe and Larrisa you are brilliant fun and lovely people - will never forget our karaoke night!!. 'Skinny' and his team in the restaruants are also very friendly, and set up a special table in the main restaraunt for my husbands birthday, and came out singing with a birthday cake.

The weather was brilliant and very warm in the evenings. The pools are lovely and the slides and splash park are excellent for the kids. We did tip the pool boys on our first day, and they kept our beds for us daily. Bar staff around the pool are good fun and are constantly coming
around with drinks. Others have mentioned being hassled by the spa guys, they do come around trying to sell you all sorts of beauty treatments, massages, haircuts etc. but we told them no thanks on the first day and they were great, after that they would stop by everday, but only to chat.

Like others have mentioned, the downside is stepping outside of the hotel to try and do some shopping, you are constantly hassled by shop owners wanting you to go into their shop to have a look. We did buy some Converse trainers £6 and Nike trainers £14, but we got really fed up and went back to the hotel and into the shops there to finish our shopping.

All in all we had a brilliant time at the CSSR and made some lovely friends, the staff all work hard and the animation team are just fab.

Mention also goes to Natalie, Guest Relations who was extremely helpful to not just us, but everyone - she also has a fantastic singing voice!!

All in all we had a wonderful family holiday and would have loved to have returned, but sadly due to not being able to have a pleasant evening walk or a wander 'hassle' free around the shops would deter me from returning. People have said that a firm no would suffice, but this isn't the case :-(

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1205 which was in the sun all day overlooking the children's splash park.

Got there on evening of 31 Jan ready to party - Great hotel, good service, amazing choice of food especially at the NYE banquet which was stunning and well hosted with goody bags for everyone. There must have been over 1000 different types of food and we were so spoiled for choice. Clean, large family size rooms that sleep 4/5, amazing water park facilities (although water was a bit cold in Dec), loved the slides especially space bowl and boomerango, even tried the water surf, not too crowded. A very good getaway from the winter blues. Wines that they serve are really good. No one was sick. Great spa on site and amazing massages by Tariq. Great for family, friends, solos.

Room Tip: All rooms face the pool and activity area. Rooms in block 1& 2 get the sun all day so you can lo...

On 31st December my husband and myself returned to this hotel for a second visit. As we loved it first time round we decided to bring our 2 sons, our son's girlfriend and our 4yr old grand-daughter. Every one of us had an absolutely fantastic time. Most of the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough to help. Animation team (Cheryl (irn bru), Kemo, Luke and Rachel) never failed to keep us amused both during the day at the poolside, with their games, and with their evening performances. As for the food well I am a very fussy eater and I managed to eat every day (maybe a bit too much). In my opinion you would never go hungry as there is always something that you would like. The hotel is located near to McDonalds, KFC and Hard Rock Cafe if a change of food is desired. Rooms are cleaned daily and have great big comfy beds and loads of storage space. Hoping to return in November for my 50th Birthday.

Travelled 7-17th Jan 2013 with partner and son of 5 and friends of similar ages. 3rd visit to egypt and best so far. Didn't really leave the complex (except for a mcdonalds one day! and a trip to the pharmacy for prickly heat) And I wouldnt recommend that you do leave unless to go to soho square/narma bay, as you get hassled ALOT and it drives you a little crazy... As long as your stern your fine.

Flight
A little mix up at airport as we booked late and were told to collect tickets on arrival and when we arrived at east midlands found that the Thomson/First Choice desk had been closed a few days earlier so had a bit of a panic but soon calmed down and sorted... little disappointed at the extra charge for over 15kg luggage as never had this before with thomson.
Very boring, especially travelling with a child, as Thomson do not have any onboard entertainment on flights under 6 hours.
Food/drinks onboard overpriced but I suppose this is expected with every airline!

Sharm Airport
As this was our 3rd visit to Sharm we knew what to expect... airport workers are a little grumpy and not alot or organisation regarding where to collect luggage and where buses were located for transfers. Everyone wants a tip and very pushy with trolleys and handling luggage etc. When a private transfers booked you have to go to the other end to the coaches and there are alot of locals asking to change your money for pounds and if your not careful and stern you will be ripped off (i know from experience) Can be a little scary and antimidating especially when you have children with you but it gets easier every time!
Egyptian transfer rep was great... Gave a few tips aboout where to go etc and cracked a few jokes.

Coral Sea Splash
Arrival
Quick check in and shown to room... luggage was brought later. Were advised about meal times for the night and morning and the entertainment that night.

Food and Drink
In the 2nd week became repetetive but whatever you ate was always lovely in buffet restraunt. There was always a good range available and even though the nights were themed (eg egyptian, indian, english) there was always something to fall back on if there was nothing you fancied.. breakfast was the best for me but im a breakfast person.
Always something to eat all day which was great... breakfast, snacks at 12, dinner at 12.30, pizza, ice cream, fruit and salad after 12.30, tea and cakes at 4 and evening meal from 6.30. Pool and lobby bars were open from 10.
Most drinks were local but we were over the moon to see that they served pepsi cola! Cocktails at night were really nice although the spirit measures were huge but were not complaining! Served the kids cocktails too which they loved! Beer was the local stella which was nice too.

Rooms
10/10 mini bar and tea/coffee always well stocked and the cleaner was fantastic with our son and endeavoured to make the sculptures he requested. Always came over to chat to him when leaving the room and always checked we were ok. Bed, Wardrobe space and balcony all great.

Pools
All fantastic... Chilly on the slides and kids area as they were not heated but they cant help the january temp and we had great fun on them. A little disappointed at the height restrictions on the bigger slides as they were all for 2 people so he could always be accompanied and did not land in deep water but I suppose its better to be safe! He loved the wave pool we had a job getting him out of that and was thrilled that the men giving out the towels borrowed him a life jacket everyday so he felt a bit bigger going into the pools without his armbands! The surf simulator looked great fun but we didnt try this to save our own embarassment! Although the attendant offered to go on it with Dom until he got splashed and changed his mind!
The main pool and small childrens pool were heated and were lovely... there were activities in there for most of the day and they were warm enough to stay in until 4/5 in the afternoon.

Staff
Everybody wants a tip which is understandable considering the wages but drives you a little bit mad... We would prefer to tip the people who desered it ie room cleaner, towel men, animation, waiters... But everybody expects one and when theyre given one they expect more. We were asked on a few occasions and always let them know they would be treated at the end of the holiday. The men who showed us to our room and then collected our luggage at the end waited around until it was uncomfortable which made you feel a little pressurised into tipping.
Bar staff in the sportsbar, lobby bar, A La Carte, and Pool bars were a little hit and miss... They worked very hard day and night but when on holiday you expect to be greeted with a smile and a bit of conversation which wasnt always the case, sometimes making you feel as if you were inconveniencing them... but that was just a few of them there were also others who were happy to help and serve you and you could have a laugh with which made it great!
Staff in the main restaurant were very friendly and attentive... From the moment you stepped in you were greeted, shown to a table and a drinks order was taken, Drinks were topped up, Chefs serving eggs, ice cream, cutting meat etc were all very friendly.
Didnt really have a need for the thomson reps in the hotel so can't comment on them but were easily available if necessary.
The towel men for the first week were fantastic they saved our sun beds for the whole week (wrong we know but who wouldnt do it). And were great for a bit of football banter with my partner which was hilarious and also let dom sit with them, pretend to work and play bat and ball and wrestling and things which all made the holiday that little bit more special.
Overall staff were very friendly and attentive... All of them made a big effort with our son which was most important he was in his element with them and it seems egyptian men love wrestling as much as he does as alot stopped to play with his figures... They also let him practice a few moves which he liked a bit too much but they loved his boistrous personality and let him do as he pleased!

NOW FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT!!
The animation team were the best ive ever seen! Always there to please and keep you happy!
Kids club was next to the main pool and they could come and go as they pleased so if your childs responsible enough to let you know where they are its fantastic... the activites were fantastic night and day... Hes never been one to go to a kids club until this holiday... which was great for keeping him occupied and meeting friends.
Activities around the pool from 10-1 and 3-5 and they encouraged everyone to join in and there was a good range of activites we particulary enjoyed the quiz and the water polo!
The teasm made there way round the pool morning and afternoon to tell you about what was happening through the day and at night.
They started the morning and afternoon with dances around the pool which were fantastic and everyone stopped to watch! There was one guy and we never got his name but he was so fun and energetic when dancing it was great he was tall and this with glasses.
Night time entertainment was great too the outside entertainers were fantastic and the shows the animation team put on were so much fun and they tried to get everyone involved.
The kids mini disco was great again something which Dom wouldnt normally get involved in but because he got so much attention from the staff he wasn't shy as all and all the kids were made a fuss of and referred to by names etc. which makes a huge difference to them.
We never stayed around for the lobby bar and club nights with the reps but heard great reviews fom other guests who did.
In particular Kimo who was an egyptian animation entertainer was fantastic and were missing him already. He was friendly day and night and again made a massive effort with everyone. We were in awe of his energy and confidence. There were so many people adults and kids who he made a special bond with and thats just during our 10 nights. He really made the holiday special and was able to have fun with the kids as well as have banter and entertain us adults with his stories. He was eveyones best friend and really made the holiday. We'd return just to see him and will keep in touch on facebook. We were particulary touched that when we were waiting around for our transfer to the airport he sat with us and then hugged us all and waved us off which was a special touch. The holiday would not have been the same without him.

Checking out/Departure
The check out was average enough but there was a little descrepency with the spa. I had booked a massage and turkish bath (both were fantastic and a reasonable price) which were paid for when i had it but when it came to checking out it was added to the bill... As we were a little flustered my partner got very agitated as the staff were speaking egyptian to each other.. We then had the concierge approach and ask for a tip for collecting the luggage from the room, which would be understandable if we hadnt already tipped him in the room, so by now we were very irate and there was quite a gathering of other guests. The spa manager then came to the reception and the spa bill was cancelled but I would warn any other guests to keep there reciept.
It turned out to be a warning to the other guests though as alot had also booked in with the spa.
It did get quite heated and spoilt the departure a little but it was sorted quickly and the staff were very apologetic afterwards so was easily forgotten.

Transfer and Departure to EMA
Again a great rep on the coach who made an effort with Dom and kept us all entertained. We went to mcdonalds before we got on the bus as we already knew what to expect at the airport (not a lot) and I would recommend anyone to do this if theyre leaving before tea time. Staff at the airport were friendly though and kept us entertained but 2 hours is a long wait and does get boring as its small but boarding and taking off was done in 20 minutes max which was very efficient.

Overall a fantastic holiday.. and the faults ive mentioned were completely outweighed with the good points.
Were considering returning for our honeymoon in September!

Room Tip: Pool Side, Swim up rooms are located on the second floor Getting to the rooms was a jaunt.

Stayed in the hotel for a week and wanted to stay longer the rooms are enormous with loads of storage space and very modern, the bed was massive and nice flat screen tele too they have thought of everything too as they even had an English plug socket available, one thing I would say is there did seem to be a shady side of the hotel rooms that didn't get sunshine going in so was a bit chilly and dark but nothing to really complain about.
The food there was amazing I was abit neverous about going hungry due to being a fussy eater before we left home but found out straight away my fears were unjust as the spread was amazing fresh breads different food stations so you could have things cooked from fresh in front of you and then buffet style spread too something for everyone and beautiful deserts, the food in the main buffet style resteraunt was excellent but then were given a night in the 'a la carte ' American diner , this was a complete waste of time, the food quality was very poor and so we ended up going back to the main resteraunt.
The staff here are very polite and caring I was I'll midweek with a cold and the bar staff found me and insisted that they make me a hot lemon drink till I stopped coughing, you can definitely trust the staff here they take so much pride in there work and work very hard to ensure you have a good time.
The watermark was lovely something for all ages and moods, do not swim in the lazy river it is freezing!grab a rubber ring and float round, however the wave pool was heated and fantastic like stepping into a warm bath could sit in there all day, the best thing there is the flo rider surf simulator what A rush but I would warn the girls to wear a tshirt when you get on this one as you may loose your bikini top to the flo of water.
The only thing I would complain about is getting on the beach was a nightmare every time we thought we were safe we were either chased by men on camels or harassed to come into shops or buy general tat also once you were on the beach it's not clear where your meant to be sat as we kept getting kicked off by other hotel staff even when we were told by our reps that we were allowed to be there
Overall a lovely stay would go back
